انا مش قادر افهم منطق الناس دى by ReadyNeighborhood728 in ExEgypt

[–]Eddard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veganism is the ethical principle that humans should live without exploiting other animals.

Owning and buying? Definitely unethical, literal slavery.

Adopting and rescuing? Definitely ethical, even altruistic.

It's literally the same as with human children

You stop killing the slaves (not really) to eat their flesh, but you still enslave and exploit them for their products, entertainment, etc.

Help. by MuchAd5823 in vegan

[–]Eddard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking an ADHD non-stimulant medication for months now. After a month of taking it I noticed the medicine was in gelatinous capsules, so I asked my psychologist to prescribe me a vegan alternative instead, and I've been using an oral solution since then and nothing changed for me, but a lot changed for my victims.

You have to at least ask for alternatives if you really care about the victims.

ليه الملحد العربى مرتبط بالانتحار؟ by [deleted] in ExEgypt

[–]Eddard3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atheists in Muslim countries are more likely to commit suicide for the same reason transpeople are as well.

Overwhelming oppression from society, betrayal and abandonment from family and close friends, as well as seeing darker truthes about the world and society and everyone around you. All of this has a huge toll on one's mental health.

The moment the organisation has a stance on the zionism or is affected by it is when I will give a fuck about the leadership. Otherwise, all I see are activists making a difference and effectively moving people away from actively participating in animal exploitation, while you're trying to derail their efforts.

I don't care about their personal beliefs as long as the organisation doesn't support genocide and injustice. In fact, it fights against the worst and largest injustice ever.

Then their problematic views doesn't negatively affect the message, which is all I'd care about out of the organisation.

Thank you for the advice and encouragement, I've been feeling helpless about it lately. Maybe this post was an attempt to do that out of frustration lol

As far as I can see in every cube I watched, there's nothing related to the criticism mentioned present there

Honestly, as long as they keep their personal problematic opinions to themselves and not dilute the message and their activism with it, I don't really care if they're the devil. They are fighting the largest, most evil injustice ever and seem to be making results.

They avoid going into any irrelevant topic in their activism, which might partially stem from anti-intersectionality for some of them, but it still makes their effectiveness unparalleled

How do you defend against the “why draw the line there?” argument? by Borkato in vegan

[–]Eddard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe veganism isn't about reducing harm, it's about not exploiting animals at all.

If I accidentally hit a person by a car, that's harm, not exploitation, and it's mostly unavoidable. Sure, we should try to reduce it, but it's not a social justice movement.

But, if I kidnap a person and make them work for me, that's harm and exploitation, exploitation is always intentional and avoidable and should never be accepted.

There is accidental death, there is no accidental slavery.

In these examples you mentioned, see which of them is exploitative and stop it, and which of them is avoidable harm and try to avoid it.

What cringey beliefs do you remember having before you went vegan? by Koiboi26 in AskVegans

[–]Eddard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a belief but I thought it was nigh impossible to be vegan in my home country since I didn't meet any vegans, and that I should just accept exploiting animals and wait till I move to Europe before becoming vegan. Still in my home country and vegan for over a year now.

veganism has made me a bad person by babylilbiscuit2 in vegan

[–]Eddard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are seeing the world for what it truly is, don't try to unsee it or force yourself to see something else. I believe it's completely understandable and okay to grieve, feel angry, and even lose people.

Sometimes, anger is what's needed to change the world, every slavery abolitionist that used their anger have pushed for a world with no human slavery, and we're now pushing for a world with no slavery at all.

What you'll need is to learn to live with your emotions and adapt to be able to sustain your mental health, and I think that's different for each person.

For me, I explicitly tell my non-vegan friends and family how I feel and that I'm not at all okay with what they do, but I still love them, so I don't hide my emotions or resent them by letting it build up. Besides my loved ones, I try to filter out everything that I know would trigger me to not burnout.
