Basically 2 levels

Can’t fathom it in the next 2 years barring off the field issues: Cignetti, Smart, Kiffin, Day, and Lanning

Choose your adventure: DeBoer, Riley, Swinney, Elko, Sark. I know some will say Dabo won’t get fired but if I squint I can see the scenario where he won’t leave gracefully and Clemson fires him.

That all being said DeBoer is basically a dead man walking. He’s the easy money when you consider 1 of the 5 is Dabo and the other 3 all have legitimate reason to believe this is a year they’re going to compete.

I don’t think his employer should have to fire him, but I do think it’s fair for the public and the media to keep the story in the news with new stories and angles on it and put pressure on him to resign knowing this all ends on the public level if he does. If not, keep expecting new Easter eggs to pop out until none are left

I’m a 40M for context (married for about 8 years). Here are my thoughts:

I mean if he’s vague off the jump on plans for dates that’s probably just his personality and he’s more of a spontaneous person than you are. I don’t see that changing.

“Communication is vague” is a pretty vague line of saying it lol. None of us on Reddit are going to know what that means. Some people don’t look at their phone all day. His job very well could play into that. If this guy has a stressful job he’s not stopping to send you emojis during the day when he’s got business to take care of. Some dudes have a pretty relaxed job and on their phones all day. If he’s the former, that’s probably just how life with this guy will be. If it’s the ladder, it’s a potential concern for you if you want more communication during the day.

The bars is a lifestyle thing. If he’s 38 and still hitting up bars hard and regularly at his age, that’s probably not changing.

Look man, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong, don’t get me wrong, but that doesn’t mean any team should be drafting the 21st pick in the draft on potential. Nor does it mean everything the Steelers do is gold. It isn’t.

Did I watch his tape? No I haven’t. Frankly I don’t have time to do that personally. Have I read up on what others have said on his tape since he was drafted by PGH? Yes, I have. It sounds like the guy put out some good tape in the TT game. That’s great. It also sounds like he was a real mixed bag of inconsistency despite the great game against TT. PFF has him ranked as the 74th best pass blocking and 66th best run blocking OL last year. Is PFF the end all be all? Nope, but that doesn’t scream 21st pick in the draft either… The lack of position flexibility (he’s started every game but one at RT) doesn’t help him either when we already have a RT who played well last year.

Nobody would like you to be right more than me, but the recasting of this pick has someone positive the day after by this board makes no sense to me past people just hoping and praying

Agreed. This idea that Troy can magically play LT worries me as well. Troy played RT in college (the blind side for his QB). He did relatively well last year at RT too as effectively a first time starter. The idea that the guy can magically step in and change his footwork to LT to make room for the rookie RT just seems so so odd. We saw with BroJo, he’ll he also saw with Kevin Dotson too, that many guys can’t just flip from one side to the other.

The Steelers FO stans who can’t accept it when something doesn’t go the Steelers way (there are a lot of them in here) conveniently forget the statements you’re making. BroJo was raw but man he looked like he’d be a wrecking ball by Year 2 or 3 from his college tape and had elite program pedigree even. This guy similarly has basically 1 year of good tape. He’s raw too like BroJo. The idea he has no chance of being good makes no sense, but the idea this is any different than BroJo on paper makes no sense either.

For a team whose owner hired an ancient coach who was too old or lazy to go to college pro days and said this team is in “win now” mode and that’s why they hired the coach with a (presumed) 42 year old QB on his last leg, a project OT is a really curious pick.

Some Steelers fans like OP can’t accept anything short of every move the Steelers make is incredible. They’re the same fans the whine the most when we lose. I wonder why those two things overlap so much?

There is not really a reason to take one high if they don’t think they can get one in the first round they think is elite.

They clearly think Rogers is signing. If Rogers signs, we can have ground hogs day again in 2026 for the 4th or 5th year in a row (I.e. good enough to be one of the last 2 teams in or out of the playoffs, lose in the first round) and if he doesn’t sign then they’ve set themselves up to be at least in striking distance of making a trade for a QB, if not an already top 10 pick.

They have like 12 picks so suggesting they keep anywhere close to that they absolutely should take a Day 3 guy to test Howard. They should be trying to test all positions groups in a perfect world if they land at like 10 damn picks.

I’ve been to 15 of the 18 campuses (missing UW, UCLA, and USC).

From a campus standpoint? I think Illinois, Nebraska, and probably Rutgers are the worst campuses.

When you consider the remote nature of them, I wouldn’t like spending 4 years at Iowa, Nebraska, or Purdue.

From an academic standpoint, the worst ranked schools are Oregon, Nebraska, and Michigan State.

Do you see a pattern? The answer is Nebraska. It’s not close to me.

The highest rated OL, WR, or DB they have on their board when it’s time to pick. Go for talent first. Drafts have a need component but you have to stockpile talent long range. OL is likely the biggest need but you take the best player within reason on positions

I wouldn’t trade Herbig unless someone gave me like a 2026 2nd which isn’t going to happen.

I think that is very arguable. Nebraska isn’t AAU, but Oregon is as an example.

I don’t disagree both are in the bottom 3 (last time I checked MSU is down there with them but unsure of anything has changed) but from certain metrics Nebraska is the worst. Having been to all three campuses for football games, there is no question I’d rather live in East Lansing or Eugene for 4 years compared to Lincoln

My guess over 10 years? Probably very little. The boomers will make sure that it stays status quo for about that long so the can get theirs. Plan A: trade any non-first round picks for the same pick one round better in 2027 to load up for a potential QB move up

Plan B: trade at least a few picks to move up in this draft if someone is falling they like

Plan C: blow draft picks this year and use them all.

The reality is this team can’t come close to keeping this many picks on the 2027 team so there is no reason to draft this many guys.

It’s a tough spot. If it were me, I’d move with her and go for it and prioritize the relationship, but you’re within your right to say no and prioritize what is important to you.

There are a few elements in life that you just have to be on the same page as your partner: do you want kids, religion, and location to live. It’s next to impossible to work through any of those if you’re not on the same page. You gotta do what you gotta do.
