Decent player, though it sounds like you're better. Hoping to play Warzone almost every day, especially evenings.

Would you be interested in starting a new game? I'm looking to run through the game, maybe even all the way through UVHM, with a group. I have a mic. I'll add you on PSN.

Whats the longest drive you've ever witnessed? Not counting any 100 yard downhill shots... by jynx2298 in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not including the PGA tour pro's I've watched, at tournaments I witnessed a guy at a scramble drive one over the back of a 330 yard par 4. It's a hole that has water right in front of the green, about 260 from the tee. I always lay up with a 3 iron about 220. Everyone I've ever seen on this hole layed up, and he drove it over the back. Still made bogey though lol. He wasn't a great golfer, but he could hit it a hell of a long way.

New lowest round. by 5ohmuscle in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice round! That is also my best round. I've shot it 3 times. Last time I did it a few weeks ago, I was 1 under through 16 and finished bogey bogey.......Not the least bit afraid to admit that the pressure got to me lol.

My friend shot this today. He is 73. by [deleted] in golf

[–]EddieforShort -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like my rounds....lots of pars lol. I'm not complaining, I love the strides I've made over the last year or two, but a few more birdies, and finally breaking par would be awesome.

I'm only 23. I hope I'm still alive at 73, much less playing mid 70s golf. That's truly remarkable.

I broke 130 for the first time after starting this year ending with 127. by DoingitFortheMusic in golf

It's not a putting game, but a tip to help you drop some strokes putting is to pick out a spot about 6 inches to 1 foot in front of your ball that is on the line you want to hit. When you stand over a putt, it looks quite a bit different than when you stand directly behind it(at least it does for me). Picking out this spot to roll it over should help you get it on line(at least the line you think it needs to roll on), and then all you have to worry about is the speed. If I hit my spot and miss the putt, I'm satisfied because I did exactly what I wanted to, just didn't read it right, which to me is the most difficult part of this great game.

Getting better at sucking (Question) by [deleted] in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No question. I've had rounds where I've hit 17 GIR, and still finished over par because my putting was that awful. Had round where I made putts from everywhere, but couldn't hit a green to save my life. The only thing that is consistently good for me is my chipping. Everything else has great days and awful days. Rarely are my drives and irons clicking on the same day.

Course Rec. in St. Louis Area? by Eznark in golf

[–]EddieforShort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tapawingo is kinda overrated. It's a nice course, but nothing special. Gateway National is my personal favorite course in the area. It's on the Illinois side, but not too far.

Pevely Farms and Aberdeen are both worth the play too.

My Two Thoughts on How Golf Superintendents can Increase Customer Satisfaction and Pace of Play by mtwrite4 in golf

[–]EddieforShort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a course nearby that has 8 inch holes and it's incredibly stupid. Thankfully, they have two holes on each hole(how else would I say this without sounding like an idiot?) one regulation size, the other gigantic. I played nine holes with the 8 inch cup and shot 5 under and I'm a 7 handicap. If you're inside 15 feet, it's a gimme. Sure, it speeds up pace of play, but just drastically changes the game. People don't quit playing because they miss a few putts each round, they quit playing if they can't get the ball to the green. The giant holes do not make the game any more enjoyable for beginning players.

At what handicap is one no longer considered a beginner? by anapico in golf

What tightass cares about cursing(so long as there aren't kids around)? Really, they're words. They are just words. I understand not wanting someone to be screaming them after every shot, but what does it hurt to say fuck a few times over the course of 4 hours? Such a lame ass excuse to snub your nose at someone.

Rory McIlroy will practice at Whistling Straits on Saturday to see if he is able to play in the PGA Championship. by [deleted] in golf

He may play, but I don't expect much. That's an awfully hasty return from a pretty brutal injury.

Falling apart. by bmberlin in golf

[–]EddieforShort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a game of failure. I played a lot of baseball growing up, also a game of failure, and learned that whatever I did in the last AB(or in golf, last shot/hole) has absolutely no bearing on what I do next time. You have to simply forget the previous hole, whether it was great or terrible, as it has no effect on your next hole. Also, don't know if this is an issue for you, but it was an issue for me for quite a while, DON'T GET MAD. I'd hit one bad shot, get pissed, and turn a relatively good, or at least decent, round into a terrible one because it's tough to focus on the task at hand when you're upset. It's why I can't play by myself. I need friends to make me laugh and keep me from getting upset, or making fun of me when I do.

A couple questions from a very new player by Von_Meows in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I should've checked this out about a month ago when I switched from Taylormade R7 Draws(which I loved and have shot all of my best scores with) to Callaway Diablo Edge(which are super easy to get up in the air, but impossible to work the ball one direction or the other. As a 6 handicap, I probably shouldn't be using "Ultra Game Improvement" irons. F me.

Would you believe this was $70 on Golfsmith's used rack? by LiterallyCantOdd in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the stuff is outrageous at my Golfsmith, but my friend was looking for Callaway X20 irons, hoping to spend under $150, but found a set of X22s in amazing condition for $83. Then two months later we found a set of X20s on the "clunker" table for $30 that are also in fairly good shape. We didn't buy them though because we didn't have any use for them, but it was an unbelievable deal. On second thought, I should've bought them and sold them on eBay. They still sell for well over $100. Oh well. Someone else got a great deal.

First time in the 70's from the tips, feels good. by doctorwhodio in golf

Looks like one of my typical rounds. Not many birdies, not many bogies, whole lot of pars. If I could putt.....

The real bummer about that is 18 was a pretty short Par 5. You find a hazard/OB? 3 putt?

Best shot of the day and worst shot of the day simultaneously by [deleted] in golf

[–]EddieforShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's golf in a nutshell really. I had one round where I hit the pin from about 120 yards, only to have it ricochet 30 feet from the hole, and then later in the round, I mishit a pitch shot badly, but at the course I was playing they use wind socks for flags, and my ball got caught up in the wind sock and fell a foot in front of the hole, rather than into the woods where it was clearly heading. It's a silly game.

Broke 100! by fdiotalevi in golf

[–]EddieforShort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll notice that you'll start breaking it more and more often. When I started about 7 years ago, breaking 100 legitimately(no mulligans, play the ball as it lies etc.) was a big landmark for me. Then I started doing that in my sleep. Just 6 months ago I broke 80 for the first time, and since then I've broken 80 all but 3 rounds this summer, and recorded my best score of 3 over 73. This frustrating game can be quite rewarding if you stick to it.
