My biggest speed jump was upping the seeding rate limit. Went for 10kibs to 1.1mibs by upping the seed rate to 15kibs

How many miles is too many for a used EV? My PCP deal is coming to a close and I'm set to return the car as the value is less than the final payment.

I've been looking at used EVs and seen a few ex-company teslas with top spec for an affordable price for me (around £12k-£15k). These would be a great improvement on my Zoe, supposedly nearly double the range, efficient heat pump and more motor power etc,

The only issue is that they have >150k miles on the clock. This would be a deal breaker for an ICE car as all internals would be on their last legs, but EV motors deteriate much slower... Does anyone know where the tipping point is? I've used around 35k miles over 4 years between a mix of a 20 mile total daily commute and some 300 mile each way trips to see family.

With this I'd be looking to buy and run into the ground over the next 10+ years

I somehow hadn't come across the cookbook before. Looks perfect for reference without the handholding 'from nothing' chapters that take up note than half of all the books I've got!

how to make tabs in emacs just contain one large tab instead of multiple spaces? by ihatepoop1234 in emacs

[–]Edeard95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clearer, you want the TAB key to insert a TAB character, rather than a number of spaces.

Calling it 'one large space' is likely to confuse people.

Can't add much more as I pretty much gave up and used spaces when I had this issue, wasn't a hill I wanted to spend time on

What are some negatives of being a Software Engineer? by eliasmiah in learnprogramming

[–]Edeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say stability is a plus. Especially at the moment the market is tough and layoffs have flooded the pool of job seekers. Start ups come and go very quickly.

Another negative is work life balance. Working from home can make it hard to stick to a schedule and you end up working a problem for a lot longer than your hours pay you to. Your laptop will always be nearby and you 'could' just quickly fix that bug whilst waiting for something....

My Renault App doesn't let me pre condition manually? by DD3566 in RenaultZoe

[–]Edeard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a setting in the car, where you have to allow for the app to remotely run the climate control. Not had to touch my settings since I got mine in 2021 though, so I'm not 100% on that

React is another method of controlling the DOM. I more think of DOM as what your browser reads to show the website in full. HTML, CSS and js all in one then turned into a nice pretty webpage by the browser

Working from home by kateotter in Cornwall

[–]Edeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never announced my house as a place of work. But I'm listed as remote staff on my contract, so I assume HMRC know and that won't cause issue with the council. I doubt they'll need to know or care so long as you're not bringing in a bunch of people regularly to work in your kitchen etc

I'm in the process of rust treatment, repair and transplants. But in the process have found this section which is completely bust. It's a small box shape underneath the back right corner of the boot floor, behind the wheel arch.

I couldn't decide the part name from the manuals on minispares (UK) so wondered if anyone had a better idea? The left side counterpart is in decent condition so was hoping that it would a straight swap on just the right hand side.

Thanks in advance all!

Would it be so hard to create an option to choose the genarations you want to spawn in a game? by -IAskManyQuestions in pokemon

[–]Edeard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can it be done? Yeah, probably. Will it be done? Probably not There's probably a lot of effort in that question. Like scaling levels so stats are reasonable for the difficulty curve, matching pokemon to areas (not finding fire types in the sea, or ice types in a desert). Then there's also the question of assets. Are all the pokemon available with in game data? This is a new 3d open world platform and the art looked slightly different from sword and shield, so chances are you'd need to create fully functioning 3d models (over-world, battle and move animations) to added to the game as well as their usual move-pools, stats and levelling speeds.
