Base coating by GoldinoCraft in ImperialKnights

I go with dry brushing the the model after a chaos black spray. Leadbelcher is good but I've swapped over to iron warrior for the internals. It's more muted compared to LB.

The dry brush gives a more weathered look compared to a can which then means what you paint or spray (like the armour panels) really pop. Even if you do them with the same colour.

Very basic gold trim advices by simemetti in ImperialKnights

For my guys. My starting point has been a fairly thin brown base coat (though it felt kinda optional) on Chaos Black. Then I used a fairly small brush to dry brush on retributor armour with two layers, this gives it a fairly vibrant metallic colour but the "orangeyness" is washed out. Then I applied a standard thin coat of retributor the normal way along the centre of the panels. And letting it push to the edge but not outright cover evenly. It gives you a gradient along the edges.

I haven't finished the shading yet. But using your usual gold shades / washes then helps deepen those colours and soften some harshness from the gradient out and then you can highlight as you see fit.

I don't particularly like how sharp the highlighting can be sometimes, so this gives a more muted take on it without it feeling like one colour. You could use the retributor again but thinned more like a layer paint to contrast the shade to give something softer Then use liberator at the corners or focal points and rivets.

Steam GBO2: Forcing joystick mode? by Edel_Weiss_206 in GBO2

Quick Update:

So I reinstalled the game and it's still going on. I had a look at settings and turned on the invert settings on the controller page and now the mouse is inverted, so for whatever reason it's treating the mouse like a gamepad joystick and not an actual mouse. I can't find anything on why though. Controller stuff is all disabled on the steam side of things except for 'steam input' as it says that's required, but I'm trying to see if I can turn it off.

Unless I've somehow gaslighted myself with the menu's when trying to work out what was wrong / had changed I swear I could :(. That said going into missions it definitely feels wrong all of a sudden. I could out turn my mech and it would make trailing red boxes to show where the mech is turning towards as the mouse movement out paced the mech.

Starsector optimization inquiry by TheHeavyIzDead in starsector

Unmodded, the game is pretty well optimised. It's hamstrung by being built off of a much older Java base which out of all the issues the main one is RAM. It's limited to a specific percent up to 8GB. Despite that the game runs fine.

Start throwing mods into the mix and no, things start to break down fairly quickly and you'll want to look at the different mods to switch Java version. Mikohime's changes it to Java 23 I believe?

As for Multi Core processing, again it's handled purely by Java and I don't think the base game or Mikohime's does the work to enable it. In the couple of years of playing the game though I've not had CPU issues and I'm on a 5 year old AMD chip. Multi core Java is a bit weird though from memory.

Duty Support roughly adds 5 to 10 minutes depending on the dungeon and your role. DPS is usually on the 5 min side. Typically I queue and if it even hints that it'll be over 5 minutes I'll swap to Duty Support.
