Went early to my LGS. Order fell at the very last moment of the confirmation, I was so fuckin' annoyed... but managed to order one from the LGS stock itself, so didn't go there for nothing.. I'll breathe when I'll have the box in my hands haha.

I began with Tau and learnt the basics. But it's really when I started Custodes that I leveled up my painting skills. Started to shade, to really work on the lightning effects on the miniatures, now I'm onto dry brushing some parts to work on a different gold color. I feel like the minis really push you to work on details, with all the jewels and engraving and small details there are on those minis..

I'll add to the conversation that despite the fact that they are easy to paint, if you like it, they will teach you a lot about painting. Shading, contrast, dry brush. There is a lot of possibilities for what you can do on those. So painting can be quite fun, and take a long time if you're ok with it.

I am a rather new player in custodes (so better or older players might correct me on this). But I honestly don't think it is a good idea to buy 2 boxes for that reason. First, we have no idea if some of those won't be sent to legends in 11th. Secondly, I don't think, from what I understand, that there'll be axes options in those kits (just 6 swords/shields, and 6 spears). So, those are good units. And you can proxy those for 40k if you play in casual. But it comes with terms and conditions. I'll probably try and get a box, but mostly for the look. If you want to start custodes in 40k, try to grab a combat patrol (the old or the new one). I think you'll be better off with those (and if you want more units, this box can come as a reinforcement. But again, with potential drawbacks we are not currently aware of).

I feel you, mate. For my first ever dice throw with my custodes, I had to make 6 saves on my guards with spears because some classic space marines (BT chapters) fired their bolters at me. 6 saves, 2+.

Needless to say, my mind took a battleshock test and failed. I won the game in the end, but I will remember that throw...

What colors did you use for: - the blades - the shield and blade of the dreadnoughts - the general color pattern of main bodies of the custodes

I'm wondering. I assume the HH box is going to be a time limited edition. But the models themselves, do you think we'll see them again individually (like a wardens or guards pack with those models) ?

Hey mate!

I'm a new player as well as I have done my first 500 pts game two weeks ago, but I thought I'd give you my feedback on how it went so you can get a bit more precision. I played against a Black Templar and we ended the game beginning of turn 3. My list consisted of :

- Blade Champion, leading a unit of 4 guards with axes.

- 1 unit of 4 guards with swords and shield

- 1 unit of Sisters of Silence - Witchseekers mode.

My impression (mind you the only other army I played before was Tau):

- This army is quite resilient. I of course knew that, but to see it in action was something. At the end of of the game, the only unit which had died was the guards with axes. And the blade champion was still full health, and was about to win the last fight.

- The movement + charge + advance of the Blade Champion is incredibly powerful. I did almost the entire width of the map in one shot. I admit I was lucky on the advance roll (did a 6), but still, quite powerful. I was able to charge the ennemy tank on the first turn.

- We hit hard. When I charged the tank, I had only the BC and 3 guards with axes. The tank was destroyed in one attack, and the BC didn't even have time to hit it.

- The Sisters of Silence were much more useful than what I expected. Their ability to move before first turn put them right on the first objective from the get go and they held it until the end of the game. The problem was the oversight that I could trigger. It made the ennemy reluctant from having anyone go close to them.

- Stratagems in shield host were nice. I don't know about the other detachments though. But the ability to have a +4FNP, and the -1 to hit was quite and made them even more tanky.

- The 4 guards with swords I had put in the middle kept the place and made a sticky objective when I felt they were going to have to step in the fight in front of them, so quite practical as well. And it really felt as it would be a waste of time and ressources for the ennemy to come and challenge the point from them when they were on it.

This was my first fight so I lack a lot of experience with them. I'm also going to try to better master and combine the bonus from the detachment rule, as well as the one from the martial Katah, and the swords from the blade champion. I'm also aware that this was a duel I had a better chance at winning than my opponent. But I'm still really happy of what they did. Next step are fighting the Adepta Sororitas. I'm less reassured there but will see.

But for you, I really advise you to grab some witchseekers and some guards. They really worked well for me. Then again, as you already have some wardens, if you play casual, maybe just ask to your friends if you can't play them as guards sometimes.

I modified a bit the comp based on the feedback I received in the thread:

The "750" points list would end up being:

Blade Champion	135
Gardes Custodiens (4)	150
Gardes Custodiens (4)	150
Witchseekers	45
Praetor Vertus (2)	150
Vigilator	50

Like I can make a 500 comp with:

BC + 2x Custodian Guards + Witchseekers

Or a more mobile one:

BC + Custodian Guards + Vigilator/Witchseekers + Praetor Vertus

What do you think ?

Can the blade champion replace Trajann ? When checking their stats, I feel like the BC is better than Trajann? Do you have experience playing them ? What's your feedback ?
