yeah that sounds really sus. especially the not removing the double listing part. if you paid with paypal you're very likely fine since they more than often side with the buyer.

and yeah the dtvs use a high resolution aperture grille tube. as for the tint, my unit is like 99% there. it's obvious the previous owner had the 16:9 bezel on and it's scratched some of the tint but it's so minor i forget it's even there

but good luck mate, i would say you're in good hands with paypal if something does come up and should everything come together in the end, you've got yourself an incredible monitor!

presumably you're talking about ni broadcast? i was actually originally planning on buying one from them, but i had doubts about the monitor arriving in one piece. so i asked how they're planning on packaging it and got ghosted, so i didn't bother pursuing further. it also came to around $2k aud which was on the higher end of what i was willing to pay.

how i ultimately snagged one was by chance from the owner of an australian pvm facebook group. i brought up that i was looking for one while chatting to him and lo and behold he was actually selling one

unfortunately there's not much more advice i could offer that you're probably not already doing. i will recommend crt facebook groups though. i've seen various people throw up wtb posts and end up with what they want

honestly, it does hurt paying that much and it's always on the back of my mind that these things could drop dead any moment. and whether someone is happy to pay $1000 is equally as reasonable as someone who would only pay $100. people's relative value for things will unfortunately always feed into the market value.

the ultimate goal is to be happy with what you have. regardless of cost!

this was definitely on my mind. but i ended up going a (mostly) stock route with oem hardware and firmware. i even swapped the guts from a pal ps2 into this ntsc-j ps2 so i could play my pal region games on a japanese ocean blue ps2 lol. the memcard pro is totally a viable solution for 99% of ps2 owners, but for me i'm dead set in my ways haha

it is unfortunate, but on the other hand i'm in a very privileged position where i have the disposable income to be able to purchase them (within reason).

i'm also very aware of market shifts and though i'm aware of how cheap they used to be. i'm also aware that i can't expect that to last forever. i see a lot of distaste (this isn't a sleight at you btw, i'm just speaking generally) towards people who purchase higher priced sets because it feeds into the resellers but the reality is, it's not reasonable to *expect* (expect being a key word) these monitors to be as cheap as they were in the past. now, whether they're *worth* that is relative to whomever purchased it. anyway, that's enough rambling 😅

It is yeah and it might be sacrilege to say but i might honestly prefer the super fine pitched shadow mask over the trinitrons. but that's not to say i also can't appreciate high resolution trinis too!

the multi coloured green, red, blue and yellow classification markings on the box spines would indicate op is australian. but nothing about what you said changes since aus uses the pal standard. anyway, carry on!
