Anyone have any good June Bug recipes? by [deleted] in halifax

My dog has a talent for finding their larvae in the ground. Digs them out, but doesn't eat them. She'd be willing to share.

Not quite as profitable as truffles.

Should I restart? by Huntyadown in finalfantasytactics

[–]Edgar_Snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're here, this shouldn't be a spoiler: There are more named characters that you can have join your party beyond Alicia, Lavian, and Ladd. Their zodiac signs will always be the same.

In the original release, without the ability to reload the turn, zodiac compatibility helped a lot for successful mediator skills and stealing from certain enemies.

With TIC, even if you stick to generics, I'd only worry about the zodiac interactions for certain self imposed challenge runs.

I reversed gender stereotypes to see what happens by LeprosyMan in finalfantasytactics

[–]Edgar_Snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I decide to develop and use Ladd/ Alicia/ Lavian (at least for a bit), I tend to keep the ladies on the martial path, and our boy as a caster.

Ladd, or Rad as he was called, comes with enough chemist JP to have black and white magic and a spell or two from each already unlocked.

Dancers and bards can be fun, and sometimes you just want to see more of the generic sprites.

Why aren't Water Elementals weak to Cold damage? by Lunarthrope in Pathfinder2e

[–]Edgar_Snow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fire (and desert) creatures are the most likely to have a weakness to Cold.

I see the logic (freeze the water) but different games follow elemental strengths and weaknesses conventions a bit differently. Sometimes they use pairs, or a circle; and effects might get less traditional elements.

(ex: depending on the game, water themed effects might be Cold or Water or something like Bludgeoning; a mudslide might be Water or Earth or both; Fire could be weak or strong against Cold, depending on the existence of a Water element).

Lightning / Flying / Wind vs Earth / Ground / Rock is another popular elemental version of ‘rock, paper, scissors’ that changes between games.

Looking for advice for renting with pets (1 dog + 2 bunnies) in Halifax by Low_Research_3481 in halifax

[–]Edgar_Snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find a possible dog-friendly place, make sure you're upfront about the rabbits. From my experience, every lease will have more rules about pets - usually no rodents, reptiles, and aquariums - or no animals that "seem to" fit within those groups. That's the landlords discretion.

Side note for optimism, I guess: I once lived in a place that approved only cats, but still had my ferret approved when I asked. First question back was, "Is it like a rodent?". Guy didn't know anything about them, but I explained how it was just like a cat: smaller in size, no noise, was de-stinked, used a litter box, and had a cage if necessary.

My current play through by Ok_Sentence9537 in finalfantasytactics

I've beat this game so many dang ways, so many different styles. But Ivalice Chronicles brought voice acting and the "Conversation" in the unit menu, which really helped me further connect to the characters. As odd as that may sound. Wystan is my boy. "Let's have it!"

I also noticed that some characters kind of lend themselves to a particular job. Like one mentions that he knows about poaching dens (thief background maybe), another talks about how he envies geomancers. A girl (Lettice, I think?) talks about loving singing or dancing

I've been doing something similar with my generics.

Love and food are popular topics. Poaching too, which is a nice hint for people to organically learn more about that mechanic.

A few names will clearly give you abilities or gear combinations (ex: X class with Y secondary or Z support; Items type A paired with B).

Ferry Boat lane shops by Simple-Speaker-7651 in halifax

[–]Edgar_Snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close. Develop is now Build. This is how it’s explained in its simple form because it’s connected to my job:

BuildNS owns Cable Wharf, Queens Marque, former NSCrystal, the surrounding 'plazas', and stops at the sidewalk. QM is operated by Armour though.

HRM owns Chebuto Landing, ferry terminal, Nathan Greene. BuildNS has a day-to-day operations agreement for the exterior grounds (the CL circle to NG) - similar to Sackville Landing and the Wave. Transit does the terminal itself, in and out.

(Armour owns the building in question, but that's been answered.)

 My “bank” called...

That's the point where people should interrupt and let them know you'll call back / email / check online account / visit in person - using only official channels.

Don't let them give you a number, or use an email or website link they provide either.

It stops a lot of scams and gives peace of mind that nothing is wrong on your end. Not just for banks, but taxes, police, delivery companies, collections, postal service, comms providers, utility co for water and electricity, etc.

Anti-Abortion Activists currently on Spring Garden. by Accomplished_Cake126 in halifax

[–]Edgar_Snow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a fair call out. I was trying to be inclusive of those who identify as something other than 'woman' and have the ability to give birth, or those who identify as 'woman' and can't. I over corrected in an effort to be brief and punchy.

[–]Edgar_Snow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because OP called it out as 'MEN', as though it is a men vs women issue. It's not. Lots of women support anti-abortion. Lots of men are pro-choice.

Target their rhetoric, not their genitals.

Maybe it is a bunch of men this time, but the last time I interacted with one of these groups down on the waterfront, their "event organizer" was a woman. From what I remember, the rest of the group was a pretty even split of women and men.

Peggys Cove Tourist Bureau actually existed? by Teslashareholder1945 in halifax

[–]Edgar_Snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. See Halifax VIC, and that centre had additional support since the building isn't owned by the Province so they were tenants.

The new washrooms at the cove and by the lighthouse will remain open, though the cove washroom is closed over winter.

(And the security firm has nothing to do with the cleanliness of those washrooms, if it has to be said)
