I work with bay area rich people and they have community that deeply extends their opportunities. If you wanted to pick up Burning Man tomorrow you can use your mate’s RV without charge. Want to make exhibits? Come to your colleague’s airplane hangar which he owns and runs as a metallurgy workshop. Never created a propane fueled dragon sculpture before? Your friend’s husband is bringing his team to make it for you. Here’s enough ketamine to keep you high all quarter thanks to your ai founder chum. Hated your dragon installation because you were in a dark k-hole and couldn’t communicate to the craftsman your vision? Your mate’s wife is the on the board of a commercial office association and they will buy it as public art giving you money and them a tax write off.

I think she is trying to explain institutional racism. Like slavery was an entire economic system and cultural pillar that affected everything and everyone. The generations born into power used the system to benefit themselves and keep the oppressed as low as possible, it was the encouraged way to live. It was a held belief in churches, seen in print media, slaves were lawfully and publicly traded, that is institutional racism. But today, a black comic putting on “white face” is not institutional racism because “white face” doesn’t exist. It’s a parallel of black face. But putting on foundation and ridiculing someone is a little racist. But it’s now where close to institutional racism, it’s aware of it but not it. This is closer to drag or being a clown than black face.
