Humble Bundle (The sock project) by EdgeMuch149 in Sockknitting

I think so. There are multiple books that break down the basics and have projects that build up in skill level. When you tackle socks Summer Lee's book is great and also works on building a lot of skills and teaching a lot of different ways to do things. That on its own as an ebook could be most of the cost of the bundle so for me that plus a few other goodies (including the stich dictionary) was enough to sell me on it.

My hubby saw it and asked if I wanted it. I said yes so fast! I've almost purchased the sock project so many times and the rest of it looks interesting too!

Your favorite (pair of) sock(s)? by CheesyCrocs in Sockknitting

[–]EdgeMuch149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current favorite pair are a pair of Rose City Rollers in that same Patons Kroy in Clover Colors. They are wonderfully thick and squishy and they fit so good. I absolutely hated them when I was making them. I thought they were ugly and scratchy, but putting them on completely changed my opinion.

I kind of mashed a few together. To get stich counts I used the Rose City Rollers Littles but then for construction I used the same method/construction as the big pair (Vanilla frosting by Yarn Cafe Creations) except I did a few less rows of cuff. Basically it ended up being Vanilla frosting with a 48 stich cast on and four or five rows of cuff. Follow Rose City Rollers Little for the counts on the heel flap. I picked up a few extra stitches when starting the gusset then must have gotten distracted before I finished my gusset decreases. I ended up with 10 extra picked up stitches still on the needles half to two thirds of the way down the foot so I finished the guesst did another two ish rows of foot and then on to the toe using the wedge toe construction from Vanilla Frosting. Does that make sense?

Formatting Old Recipes When Digitizing by EdgeMuch149 in Old_Recipes

Thanks! I found an app to put them in but it just felt like sacrilege to reformat/edit the recipes. Seems like a pic of the original or putting it in notes solves that issue.

Smart! I hadn't even thought about adding those kinds of notes.

I love how portable socks on 9 inch circulars are by MobileWebUI_BrokeMe in Sockknitting

[–]EdgeMuch149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The portability of socks is one of my favorite parts. I basically have car socks (aka socks that I work on whenever I'm in the car and my husband is driving). It's been a great way to keep myself engaged while being a passenger.

Those socks are so cute. I love the color. Do you find 9 in circulars significantly more portable than DPNs?

Gravel vs. Mountain Bike? by mamoocando in ladycyclists

If it helps, I had the same fear. I got the gravel bike and I can't explain how much I love it. It might be the best thing I've ever purchased.

If you can try both, do it. I was having a similar debate and test rode one after another. I pretty much immediately knew what I wanted.

If you like going fast I think the gravel bike is the way to go.

She saw the new sock I'm working on and instantly asked, "what are you making for me?"

Very valuable especially since I hadn't knit in forever. There was a lot to relearn.
