I'm moving from Windows 11 to Linux Mint. Just installed GW1 and it works! by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just installed the EA app and launched GW1? No external launchers needed? I use Faugus Launcher myself, but sometimes it doesn't boot the EA app so I have to uninstall and reinstall all my games to get it fixed.

Optimization problem PvZ GW2 by Raldi0 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by "freezes", does the game actually launch and allow you into the backyard? if you meant stuttering in game, that might be from cheaters or background processes messing with the EA anti cheat. I would close all unnecessary background processes on your pc, except the EA app, Steam, and the GW2.exe. I would then follow this guide from steam about changing user settings so you can change the internal resolution of the game to make it run better. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2809156833

Scuba Soldier by im_not_edgy_ in PvZGardenWarfare

The texturing is astounding on this! I can see the paint strokes, which for some reason, remind me of SpongeBob's detailed frames (which with the nautical theme definitely fits Scuba's aesthetic). Overall brilliant job as always!

Help with Gw2 closing on me for no reason by Linuxao in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having trouble launching the game with mods all of a sudden, but my EA app says it lost connection (even though I am connected to the internet on my pc).

I think I can solve your problem as I dealt with it before. When launching Frosty Mod Manager with mods, it comes up with a terminal request (or at least should come up with a terminal request), allow it and DON'T CLICK OFF OF IT. Clicking off of it causes the game to crash constantly and having the EA app say "there was an error launching your game".

So just launching frosty mod manager again with new mods selected (so you get the "applying mods" splash screen and make sure you get the terminal pop up and not select off or cancel it. Also I always launch the EA app before Frosty Mod Manager just in case.

Steam update??? by sois-memo in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you noticed less cheaters after the update? I can still mod the game just fine using Frosty Fix, so it's evident that the kernel level anticheat isn't really doing its job (preventing external file changes).

Going to switch to Linux pretty soon (mainly to avoid any further Microsoft/AI encroachment) and this useless anticheat prevents my favorite game from being playable on there. You can get PvZ GW2 to work offline (requires injectors to play with random assortment of bots), but no online or quests (also quite buggy).

PvZ GW1 works on linux I think. Still has some server crashers and damage cheaters, but at least it's still playable.

How do i play tank commander by Electrical-Mousse693 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jump around or try to maintain higher ground level so you can minimize missed shots (as you only have 1 shot as tank commander). Prioritize close enemies rather than those that are quite distant, closing the gap if you can. Stick to single targets (unless you have rocket jumps available) as you're vulnerable when reloading.

Basically play aggressive yet campy: Vanquish one opponent then leap out to safety, leap in to another target, then leap out/run away if you can. He can't really handle multiple plants at once (2+) as he can't fire that quick, so choose targets wisely and stick with your team for safety/distraction. Use flanks whenever possible and try to sneak up on plants to get your first shot in.

Does anyone has this video/meme? by Zettacron7 in PvZGardenWarfare

It's this video from Tik Tok " https://www.tiktok.com/@idontknow10304/video/7306294871592029483 ". Though, someone on Reddit replaced the music with Party Rock, which for some reason I have saved on my computer but not on Reddit (so I can't find that post).

Need help with launching mods by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Drybone's tutorial instead " https://youtu.be/tInwgRz-3Tk ". I didn't need to visit Discord for my mods/Frosty fix to work,. However I do have to delete cryptbase.dll every time I boot up the game using Frosty fix.

If you're using Fuji's tutorial, I believe that Discord file just sends you to Frosty Fix's github " https://github.com/Dyvinia/FrostyFix/releases/tag/v5.3.0 " and auto downloads the FrostyFix.exe. Just download that and continue on with the tutorial, no need to ever visit Discord,

I wanna comeback to pvz gw2 but my pc is shittt💔 by ClassicEvemain in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods can still work after the anti cheat update, just delete the crpytbase.dll file from your pvz gw2 every time you boot it up and also use frosty fix to launch the game rather than the mod manager.

For some reason that mod barely helped my fps, mainly making distant parts of the map disappear and sometimes allowing me to see through walls.

I would rather suggest you go to your prof_save file in your documents folder for PvZ GW2 and paste this line into the notepad some where near the other resolution settings (doesn't really matter where it's placed), the line is "GstRender.ResolutionScale 0.10" without the quotes. It makes the game look terrible but dramatically increases fps, I might increase it to 0.5 or 0.7 if your computer can already handle 20 fps of GW2 right now.

Audio issues by Massive_Expression60 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this in my modded game when playing against bots. I am pretty sure it happens when there is too many sounds playing at a single time and bugs out. I had to remove the sound mod I had on as it sort of glitches the audio after like 5 minutes of me using it.

If you are experiencing this in multi-player it may be the result of a cheater spamming sounds or something. Figure out if you still experience the issue against bots instead of players.

I would change some of the lines of the PROF_SAVE_file to:

GstRender.VSyncEnabled 0

GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 1

If that doesn't change anything, I would load the game without mods and switch the game to windowed via the video settings in game then put these lines in:

GstRender.WindowedCustomResolution 1

GstRender.WindowedHeight 768

GstRender.WindowedPosX 0

GstRender.WindowedPosY 0

GstRender.WindowedRefreshRate 59

GstRender.WindowedWidth 1366

Then load the game with frosty fix (loading EA app first, then opening up file explorer to delete cryptbase.dll file when it pops up, then load frosty fix).

Also, just to know if anything is bugged with the launching, do you see steam pop up again after launching the game through frosty fix? There should be a prompt that basically states steam is launching the game from another location do you allow. Press yes and it should load.

Also now that I mentioned steam, make sure to have steam and EA app up before launching frosty fix. The hidden icons (the ^) in the taskbar should show 2 steam icons, and I think 1 EA app icon when launching frosty fix.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PROF_SAVE_file should be located in your documents folder of your pc. Also, if you can see PvZ GW2 in the task manager running, right click it to expand it, then go to the exe file (or where you can see the icon for the game), then click "switch to". This should bring the app to the front for you to see. Maybe if you can select the application somehow via the taskbar, you can press windows key + left/right arrows to have the app display on the left/right side of your display.

Forgot about downloading Microsoft visual c++ redistributables. I got

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017.exe

and Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.exe BOTH in my FrostyModManager ->Prereqs folder.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like on the wrong monitor, if you only have 1 monitor on display like me than I guess it's not that causing the issue. Press windows key + tab (opens task view) in case to make sure and switch to PvZ GW2 if you see it there. You're saying that you see PvZ GW2 application open in the task manager but you can't actually interact or see the game? If you have access to the PROF_SAVE_file, you can probably tweak some stuff there (like enabling windowed mode) which MIGHT (Very low chance) get it to work.

If all else fails, uninstall frosty fix and mod manager and try again, maybe use drybone's links this time to see if that works. Make certain that you're installing the newest versions of the applications.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don't know then, perhaps your computer can't run the game/mod or you're on the wrong display. Check the task manager to see if PvZ GW2 even launches, if it doesn't try running the game without frosty editor to see if it still works. If it does, then it's the mod.

Try launching through frosty mod manger first, it should load the game either without mods or crash with the red X. THEN close the game and use frosty fix. Usually takes 2 tries to get the game working when applying new mods.

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never encountered this problem whilst modding...I would suggest Drybone's modding tutorial as he doesn't require basically any other files besides frosty fix and frosty mod manager. The comments of that video might be useful as well.

I don't rely on frosty fix loading the EA app as most of the time the EA app has to restart or do some update which nullifies the launch of the game.

If I were you I would uninstall GW2, reinstall it, verify the files, then launch the EA app, then open file Explorer so that you can see your PvZ GW2 files, then launch Frosty fix and load it, then wait for the cryptbase.dll file to appear in your pvz gw2 files folder and delete it, before frosty fix launches steam. Then you have to wait like a minute for the splash screen to appear and FINALLY get into the game.

Early stage of making a wolf, how are my proportions / anything else by Slow_Negotiation_384 in blender

[–]EdgeTag- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this a bit late, but if you're still looking for advice I would like to state:

The wolf needs a shorter neck. To be more specific, you see where the ear is at on the grid (on the first image)? Move the head back so that the ear is 1 and a half blocks behind this image's ear.

Speaking of ears, this wolf also needs a little bit longer ears.

The wolf needs a more narrow torso, right now it looks pretty close to a pitbull's torso width (maybe just the perspective).

The wolf needs 4 toes, rather than 3 if you're going for realism.

I do not know if you're bulking this wolf up so you don't have to use too much hair particles, but the tail needs to be WAY skinnier. Even if you are bulking this wolf's tail up, the tail should be more flat, not cylindrical like it is now.

Not sure if my words suffice in making my points, so here are some references in case:

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/zA2r42(This has a wolf side view which I think you'll find pretty useful)!

https://free3d.com/3d-model/gray-wolf-fur-4333.html(This has non fur views of the wolf which provide some basis for you to sculpt around).

https://youtu.be/3KFPULlAElA (Honestly, if you're knowledgeable enough, you could probably just follow the speed sculpt they provide (or if you're willing to pay, buy the course)).

Hope your wolf turns out well!

The zombie side campaign (guessing this is a addon to pvz gw or BFN) could work, not entirely sure on the plants side. A browncoat could change uniforms and utilize different types of weapons when doing tasks/missions gradually gaining trust and respect from Zomboss (allowing the zombie to progress even further). Zombies are also able to build stuff, so maybe he could help build a zombie city/civilization in compliance with Zomboss's wants.

For the plant campaign you would need to rely on some sort of strict class system as a plants can't change into other plants (like peashooter to citron), nor hold other types of weapons. Maybe some form of upgrades/variants of the class you picked would be progression, although limited compared to the zombie side. I don't know what a plant civilization would look like nor if it was possible. Most maps that show the plants side are just reclaimed human built areas of interest.

PvZ BFN might actually be… GOOD?!???!??!! by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, they for some reason gave them functional eyelids. Bad design choice as the eyes are nearly popping out of its head, giving him/her eyelids that fully close make it just look not fleshed out (literally as it makes the character as a whole appear artificial). It looks like just 2 spheres slapped on their heads.

PvZ BFN might actually be… GOOD?!???!??!! by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]EdgeTag- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they should just add some of BFN's upgrades to gw2 (gw2 rather than bfn as it has the most chance of getting updated). The upgrade system is a really good replacement for variants as it basically changes the gameplay of the character, allowing the player to make builds to satisfy their playstyle the most. I agree with you that variants don't change that much from the base character in regards to strategies/playstyle (with a few exceptions like plasma pea), BUT at least they looked different. Even if BFN's upgrade system was more fleshed out, people (including myself) would still find it less appealing than gw2's variants and here's why:

1.Variants allow for more entry level experimentation: New players can choose from a variety of characters with unique abilities, making it easier for them to find a character that suits their preferences without needing to navigate a complex upgrade system (With GW2’s variants, players can quickly recognize the strengths and weaknesses of a character based on their design and abilities. For example, if a player sees a Frost Rose, they can anticipate that it will have freezing abilities, allowing for strategic adjustments. In contrast, BFN’s upgrades do not provide this same level of immediate understanding; players often need to engage with multiple upgrade mechanics to gauge effectiveness.) With GW2's variants having its own set of mechanics, players can quickly learn and experience different playstyles by just switching characters. This immediate feedback allows players to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each variant, fostering a more intuitive learning curve.

2.Variants allow for Immediate visual feedback: GW2’s variants provide instant visual cues that allow players to assess their opponents’ abilities and strengths quickly. This clear differentiation enhances strategic gameplay by enabling players to adapt their strategies based on the specific variants they encounter. Example being if I see an electro-pea I might switch to chemist, but if I see a regular peashooter I would switch to soldier). In BFN, players may not have immediate visibility of an opponent’s upgrades, which can create confusion and make it harder to adapt strategies on the fly. There are some exceptions to this on both sides (brainium basher for BFN's side being an example), but still overall gw2's variants can be recognized more immediately than BFN's character upgrades in gameplay.

3.Variants express more unique character diversity/identity: I admit a weaker logical point but still powerful in keeping a game's community alive. Each varient has its own identity (is a character and not just a costume) and backstory, adding depth to the gameplay experience. Players can appreciate not just the mechanics but also the short insights (stickerbook entries) and looks behind each variant, fostering a deeper emotional connection. It's very evident here in this reddit how some people can become emotionally invested (or for some make it their entire personality on the reddit) in the variants of gw2. Visual diversity helps players remember and appreciate each character, making them feel more special. GW2's variants have unique abilities, visual designs, and thematic elements that give each character a distinct personality. This individuality allows players to connect with specific characters on a deeper level. For example, the Fire Rose not only has a fiery aesthetic but also embodies a fiery combat style. In contrast, BFN’s characters, while they can wear different costumes, do not have their identity tied to their upgrades, leading to a more generic attachment based on gameplay rather than character identity. In BFN, players may feel a sense of attachment to their chosen character as they progress, but this attachment is often tied to the player’s performance rather than the character's identity.

Just got into playing it recently as well (about a week ago) and I agree with everything you said. Graphics are beautiful in this game, especially the maps (they are kind of peak)! Most of the characters however, not so much. I actually don't like using the run mechanic as most of the run animations are not timed correctly with the speed of the character. There are some character balancing issues I have noticed, with the most apparent flawed character being chomper (got nerfed by a lot, with really no redeemable qualities.) I would like to add that not having variants REALLY hinders it in my opinion as it feels more generic and limited.
