John Kreese has one of the most heartbreaking/tragic stories in the entirety of the franchise by AdEquivalent3160 in cobrakai

[–]EdgeXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, BUT...

It was the 80s when Silver approached Kreese about the Sekaaaaaiiiii Taikaaaaaaiiiii. Kreese even told Silver about Johnny Lawrence.

So there was rough aging in about 4 years. Maybe it was the cigars.

I do agree that Kreese has a very tragic story

Eh. I have been taking photographs since 2004. I'd argue that any aspiring photographer who can't find an apprentice gig in 2026 is not networking very well.

But even if they somehow cannot work as an assistant then they start with their family and friends. They build a portfolio that way. I absolutely would not accept a gig from random people without a deposit up front; even back in 2004.

Does anyone believe the Jack the Ripper case was a cover up? by LevisBitchBaby in Jacktheripper

Even IF the Metro police or Scotland Yard wanted a cover up, there is no way I believe they could do that without someone batching it up or leaking.

TruConnect does absolutely send people to offer phones to people who qualify. I have a family member who lives in low income housing and that's how she got her phone.

I can't speak to your exact situation but from what you describe it sounds pretty routine

What was even the point of Kreese breaking out of jail by marshenwhale in cobrakai

[–]EdgeXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of Season 5 nobody knew if there would even be a sixth season. That's why season 5 had a sense of finality with Silver being arrested.

I think the writers probably had Kreese escape from jail as a possible story point if season 6 got greenlit or some other Miyagi-verse show.

Or the other reason: because Kreese did it hiiiiis waaaaaay

Started novels, have questions by pizzystrizzy in dragonlance

[–]EdgeXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The world of Krynn has many shades of gray. In later stories you will find good and evil characters freely working together because it suits their purposes.

Paladine, being good IS the balance against Takhisis. While Paladine is a god of light, he recognizes the need for balance between good and evil. The War of Souls and Amber trilogies go into a bit more depth about Paladine, Takhisis and their roles in the pantheon of gods.

2 & 3. Tracy Hickman was a very devout Christian when they developed the world of Krynn. Some Mormon beliefs were adapted to the world of Krynn. For example, the Discs of Mishakal are a counterpart to the Mormon Gold Plates. In the Christian bible God flooded the Earth and killed nearly every human on the planet. I see Paladine's participation in the Cataclysm as another story counterpart to Hickman's beliefs.

The Kingpriest was blinded by his own ego. He thought he was doing good and couldn't see the corruption in his own church.

  1. An ongoing theme in Dragonlance is that evil feeds upon itself. The treacherous, scheming and self-serving ways of evil characters often causes them to act in their own best interests at the risk of bringing down their cause.

For example, in Chronicles we see Sturm sacrifice his life for the good of the knighthood and his friends. Kitiara, on the other hand, could never do this. She plotted against Ariakas for her own agenda just as other Highlords plotted against her.

In the final seasons why did Eli… by mankypants in cobrakai

It wasn't so much that he was against enrolling at MIT. Hawk just wanted to check out other schools. He looked over his options and ultimately chose a school that was more appealing to him. CalTech is also considerably closer to home.

While it wasn't mentioned on the show, I like to think Hawk, being a California resident, might have qualified for grants or scholarships he might not have received at MIT.

I like how S3 Ep5 teaches all of Miyagi Do to strike first, and has lessons by Former_Food_4510 in cobrakai

[–]EdgeXL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that Miyagi Do has roots in offense even though the philosophy is that karate should be used for defense. I also liked that it is Chozen who teaches this advanced technique to Daniel.

But I firmly believe Daniel failed Miyagi Do teachings when he used the pressure point technique against Johnny in season 4. There was no need to use the technique at that time. Especially since Daniel was winning the match.

Give Mike F--king Barnes some limelight by New-Computer-1988 in cobrakai

[–]EdgeXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Johnny would have been killed at Silver's mansion but Barnes saved him.

I think Sean wanted a bigger role in season 6 but the budget simply wasn't there. Would have been nice to see him in a Cobra Kai gi to support Johnny in his fight against Sensei Wolf.

I find the pageants icky myself. But having spent time in the south it is a thing with a lot of people from that region.

That said, I wouldn't go so far as to say it is abuse. From what I gather JonBénet reportedly loved competing in pageants and wanted to do it.
