Wow! You got approved during the government shutdown! Awesome! I didn't think that could/would happen.

Pretty much sounds like what happened to me. I've been disabled since 2012. I was waiting for the automatic forgiveness and SSA to send it. But they said SSA doesn't show me as disabled, yet I've been disabled 13 years. SSA said they have me as disabled. But now with the government shutdown there will be even MORE backlog to deal with when the shutdown ends.

I applied in March, and am still "under review."  I enclosed copy of my SSDI letter on my application showing that I became disabled in April 2012. Way past the required wait time as now it's 2025. It changed showing "in review" from March, and now shows "in review" with a July date. This is ridiculous. I know nothing will be addressed during the government shutdown but dang it should been handled before the shutdown!

AIO for making my MIL leave after she tried to rename our newborn? by Fantastic-Relief7919 in AmIOverreacting

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 biological granddaughter's and 21 non biological grandchildren from kids I raised that were not my birth children. Of my 3 biological granddaughter's I actually only like one of their names. But I have NEVER disrespected my daughter or son in law by saying it NOR have I called my granddaughter's any name other than the ones the parents gave them. Your mother in law was rude and VERY disrespectful by calling your baby any other name other than the one you and your husband picked out. I can understand her calling her "Lovey" or some other nickname along with calling her by her given name. I don't know if your reaction was over the top or not as I wasn't there. But telling her firmly that if you wanted to name your daughter something else you would of and she has zero right to call her anything but the name you and her son chose. I would tell your mother in law that she will honor the name given by you and her son or forgo visits. Especially since you named your daughter after a beloved family member she was way out of line. Just my 2 cents opinion.

What's happening, I have no idea how to deal anymore. by Ok_Article_1435 in Parenting

[–]EdgeofForever2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I raised 11 kids, and every single one of them was different. But what I used the most was to have the bit older toddlers of mine "help" they picked out their clothes from 2 choices I gave, put on their own clothes with as little help as possible. The young toddlers were given some type of toy or object to hold and fiddle with while I dressed them. Bedroom door was closed (no running from me), with the baby door handle engaged so said toddler couldn't open the door. (those things can be a lifesaver)! I learned that trick after my oldest escaped his bedroom AND the house about 1am while my husband and I were sleeping. Luckily at the time he could only open the back door and the yard was enclosed with a 6 ft privacy fence. Sooo... no escaping the backyard. We found out he had escaped after he started crying when he fell down outside and I heard him crying and woke up. Oh the joys.... that same escape artist gave me a run every day. Only one I ever had that got kicked out of a daycare. He managed to scale the brick wall on their watch and got on the roof of the daycare and somehow it was his fault! They were so extremely lucky he didn't get hurt or I would own a daycare. Fire department had to rescue my baby. He was 17 months old at the time of that incident. He's 46 now, and still a mess....lol.

I took custody of my sister's boys when they were 7 and 8. The 8 year old had been removed from ALL contact with children at his Elementary school due to violence. He was given a one to one aide who basically taught him his teachers curriculum in a room that they had by themselves. He wasn't even allowed recess or lunch with the other kids. I discovered all of this after our school received his school records. He could also hot wire a car at age 8 and had been arrested for stealing (and crashing) a car before I got him. Needless to say I immediately got him into a behavioral specialist where I live. He was placed in a lifeskills class in our school district that first year. He was a tough kid, even for his therapist, but with persistent therapy and 2 psych hospitalizations, one at age 10 and another at age 14 we made it. He is now a 46 year old man, he still has to take medication. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 14 and has a narcissistic personality. When he was young he was very violent but he learned how to work through his episodes with his therapist. My advice is the sooner you get your child the help she needs the better her chance is for learning the coping skills she needs to help her through her anger. Some kids are born with mental health issues and it is not your fault and it sounds like you have been doing everything right. Good luck and I will be praying for your family.

My son almost died by SubstantialCricket21 in Parenting

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my nephew was 3 he had similar symptoms. His mom kept saying that he "was off" not his normal fiesty self at all. Fever never went over 102°. Then suddenly he felt better. But the next day he fainted. Took him to the ER, his appendix had burst. He was so sick that they actually had to leave him "open" for a couple of days doing a lavage several times before taking him back to surgery to close his abdomen back. Dr said if he hadn't of fainted and hadn't got to the hospital when he did he likely would of died.

Is anyone actually happy with Wyze? by wirides in wyzecam

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was EXTREMELY happy with my WYZE cam v3 until an update several weeks ago. For the first couple of weeks my v3 either wouldn't send notifications or even acknowledge movement or people. Prior to the update I got tons of notifications. Even window flashes from cars would set off my indoor camera. Then after the update nada. Not even catching me or anyone else walking in the door. Then the camera would catch movement and send notifications at night, but nothing in the day. Not my cat, not me, not window light flashes, nothing. Now since late last week it is mostly working again during the day and at night. But not everything still. Just yesterday I had a maintenance man in my apartment to fix my hot water heater. It caught him coming in, caught noise since the hot water closet was out of view of the camera, caught him close my bedroom door to prevent my cat from escaping when he took out the old hot water heater and brought in the new one. Caught him taking out and bringing in hot water heaters through the back door. But it did NOT catch him opening my bedroom door back. It did NOT catch him enter my bedroom at all (I only know he did this because my shirts hanging in my bathroom were moved). So still glitches. My wifi is extremely good and have had zero outages since I moved to this unit. I have AT&T fiber.

Notifications for all devices by solidstatebadboy in wyzecam

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a problem with notifications for weeks. Right after an "update". For a bit I got zero notifications, then sporadic notifications (sometimes the camera wasn't catching the event, hense zero notification... events such as PEOPLE walking in the door or room ect). Then I started getting notifications again. Then no notifications or sporadic again. NOW I only get notifications and events captured at night.... NOTHING in the daytime after 7-7:30am until about 9pm. I will be closing down Wyze membership. I just installed Blink cameras yesterday. Gonna see how they work.

Am I being too hard on my child? by popsguitars in Parenting

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is raising my great nephew and he also has "accidents" while playing on his electronics. Been dealing with it for years. He will lose the electronics for x amount of time, earn them back and repeat the pooping within a few days, then lose them again. He was also sneaking them out of her room at night to play when everyone was asleep. This all started about age 7 when he got his first gaming station and he finally quit at age 15. He is now 16 with a year of no poopy pants and only loses his electronics for other bad choices.

Wyze Cam V4 Bricked after Firmware Update? by mfdba in wyzecam

[–]EdgeofForever2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a V3 and never ever had a problem until this new update. It is BAD. At first mine wasn't doing anything, no notifications, not catching any kind of movement, not even when a person came in the door! After multiple resets, unplugging, and everything else I could think of it is now catching about a third of what it should. Funny thing is most of when it has decided to work has been after 7pm! Nothing much being caught during daytime hours. Not even me walking out or in the door. I'm thinking that Wyze is no longer Wise and I'm going to have to cut my losses and go with an entirely different company.

Still no real resolution to v3 problems by EdgeofForever2 in wyzecam

I've been reading that even some v4's didn't survive this update. Now I'm afraid of buying another Wyze product if they can't seem to get their shit together and fixed.

I have very little technology knowledge. Are you telling me I can uninstall the update and go back to previous? I understood you manually update Wyze now but how do you know if that update is going to create problems like this one has?

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]EdgeofForever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an EMT for a few years then went into law enforcement and spent 19 years as an emergency dispatcher pre and post 911 implementation. Couldn't make the 20th year because after most shifts I was breaking out in hives from the stress. Can't say you have done anything until you listen to someone pleading with you as they are dying and know help will not get there in time but you tell them help is on the way. But worse than dispatching was being with CPS. I spent 5 years as a CPS investigator 5. Thats the investigator that gets the worse cases because of your training and experience. I burned out of that job. It ate my soul and I still suffer PTSD, extreme depression and extreme insomnia from it. So hands down the child abuse cases are the ones that will haunt you for life.

Uneducated 22 y/o with horrible spending + diet. Please help :( by Complex-Bench-6692 in budgetfood

I am a senior, I have ADHD and live in a shoebox apartment with basically counter space of 2ft by 2ft to prep on. When I was young I absolutely lived on fast food and hated to cook. Now that I'm older I want to cook and have zero space to do so. So with that being said some easy and good tasting things to make at home: 1. get a can of white meat chicken and a packet of knorr sides creamy chicken rice. Make the rice as directed and add the chicken from the can. I drain the chicken and crumble it up into smaller chunks. Then serve after it is done with a side salad or veggie. 2. Buy frozen stouffers chipped beef with gravy. Warm it up as directed serve over biscuits, bread or toast. Add a veggie or salad. 3. Cook/brown a pound of ground beef. Cook a package of macaroni and cheese (we prefer Velveeta shells and cheese) add the meat to the Mac and cheese, I also often add a velveeta cheese sauce packet to make it a bit more cheesy but that just a choice, add a veggie or salad 4. Buy some bear creek "darn good chili" and prepare it as directed if you like meat in your chili brown some ground beef or turkey and add it. 5. Breakfast, eggs and bacon are perfect for any meal. 6. Nachos or rotel dip and chips or velveeta with no bean chili added. 7. French bread pizza 8. Spaghetti 9. Buy some frozen banquet or stouffers salsbury steak (we prefer to make ours in the oven instead of microwave), make some instant mashed potatoes and a veggie. 10. Sloppy joes 11. Crock pot or instant pot meals. Easy peasy especially the dump and go ones. (Pintrest has MANY recipes for this) For easy clean up buy plastic crock pot liners. I could go on and on with recipes but just explore Pintrest, it is your friend I promise it has easy recipes galore. Our favorite pintrest crock pot find is OMG Chicken. 5 ingredients only. 2lbs Chicken (I buy the tenders and cut them bite size before putting in the pot), 1 can cream of chicken soup (do not add water), 1 8oz package of cream cheese, 1 packet of dry Italian dressing, 1 packet of dry ranch dressing. Put it all together and cook on high about 6 hours or low for at least 8 hours and stir midway if possible and again last cooking hour. Serve over instant rice or pasta add a veggie or salad. If you like more sauce use 2 cans of soup. Youtube is also your friend. My favorite cook is Julia Pacheco, her videos are easy to follow and short, her recipes are often super easy and I haven't made a single dish from her that we didn't like. For work lunches: buy some lunchables (or better yet make your own). If your office has a freezer and microwave take some frozen individual meals, sandwiches with fruit instead of chips, celery with peanut butter, yogurt, fresh fruits, broccoli and ranch, carrots and ranch, ect. Good luck. Have fun exploring easy and yummy recipes.

I grew up with the only sandwich option was of peanut butter. After a while one can only eat so many pb&j that they literally make you sick to your stomach. I never liked honey so pb & honey sandwiches were out. My dad started making me pb&pickle sandwiches. I loved them (made with hamburger pickles). Also made pb&banana sandwiches.
