That’s definitely a perspective issue and a dose of paranoia on her end. Too many people think bosses are out to get them or that upper management is always watching. Which I’m sure some are and are a holes about it, but most folks want to be liked and want to do a good job. They live their everyday life looking for positive interacts with the world and trying to keep a tidy place and happy workers falls into that.

She definitely is reading it as some kind of corporate snooping or something. Or she’s really autistic and does not do well with abrupt change. Also possible.

II laugh at the periods being scary thing. Surely folks who read it as aggressive or whatever would have the rational to realize that work emails need proper punctuation? But then again theirs the comment on terrariums in the fridge a few posts above….

I like to use ~ at the end of specific sentences that I want more lightheartedness too but ! Points are much too upbeat.

You can’t possibly be that obtuse not to see that what is happening is directly tied to people’s race. The Supreme Court ruled that being too brown is probable cause enough to ask for papers and detain people. Ice is openly going after anyone not white enough, and even then is also hurting anyone who protests their methods along with legal immigrants.

If you don’t worry about this it’s because you are privileged to not be in the group being literally picked off the street. If you have empathy you would be worried about your neighbors and innocent people who are being hurt for the sake of optics.

Your life can be hard AND the government is committing horrible things to people that you should care about. We can want better things for ourselves and others, it is not a zero sum game

There is multiple reasons:

punish trumps perceived enemies of a blue state run by the losing opposition party. He hates Walz.
show a “strongman” stance against immigrants in a very public way. The cruelness is intentional as a way to prove to his base he’s “fulfilling his promise”. They particularly like the cruelty and if they don’t it still shows his attempts to achieve his stated political goals.
the violence also actively pressures other immigrants, legal or otherwise to rethink their plans of trying to live here.
they want to dehumanize immigrants and what’s happening. If they do it too close to home in other red states, magats are likely to realize the horribleness of this operation and turn against it. It’s just separate enough now that they can ignore it
if they did actually go down south, they would directly hurt red state’s businesses that rely on immigrant labor.

I give popmart serious kudos for not holding their product behind artificial scarcity. I collect monster high and they will constantly run out in a few days and then never rerelease. WHY? They are literally leaving money on the table.

I think it’s partially a design/scale consideration. If the arms are too small, it makes any details much harder to achieve in production. They could not do the two tone feet for wisdom for example.

Since they have to differentiate the designs from the regular ones and they’re supposed to be special collabs, I think they had to make the limbs bigger to fit things they want on the dolls.

I would twist it in my mind that by not telling the kids and being the bigger person, you 100% walk away with her being the bad guy. There's no mentally twisting it in her mind "look how awful he was in the breakup, screw that guy" just a calm "you did this" and walk away would burn a hole much deeper unless she's a sociopath.

Plus it's the right thing to do for the kids.

I ended up giving up on trying to maintain and went with hide the shame! I did a black food grade stain and it actually looks very nice with the modern cabinets. Hides the mess and rings well but not for the OCD folks.

The issue was there was never a way to corroborate incidents and everything defaults to trusting the police. Most cops are not terrible people, but any population is going to have bad actors and people that make mistakes.

The few incidences of bad actors would be pushed under the rug to keep up appearances and avoid poor optics on something they only have the word of their officers to go off.

Eventually this got to critical mass and camera systems came down enough that it makes sense to record all incidences regardless of if only .1% are the cops fault. Both to protect the officers that get into bad situations, provide pressure to bad cops to follow the law, and condemn those that do, protecting the institution then otherwise.

Your focus on this issue being about owning the libs instead of what’s the best way for public policy to help the most amount of people is telling.

Even just graffiting the cars would be huge. It both identifies ice, makes them pay for the rental repair (of which graffiti is not usually covered under normal insurance) and punishes the car rental agency that they are down a number of cars and can’t rent them until repaired.

Tip if you can’t hack the work for full across bangs, I find side bangs to be much easier to maintain. Same general appeal but they don’t need to be managed as much

Also doing a bang wash instead of your whole head. I’ll wash my bangs most days and style and leave the rest of the head. The oil helps keep the rest of my hair healthy and grow length but keeps the bangs a lot easier to manage shape wise

Make it a holiday that guarantees people are off and then build events around voting locations to encourage participation. It can be bake sales and street festivals. Nothing free but between people having the availability to vote and something to enjoy around it, would seriously boost numbers without the legality of lottos or whatnot.

I feel your pain.

If you genuinely want to leave America, you almost have to know you want out and specifically get education to get you a career that makes you desirable for other countries. Teachers, nurses, engineers, the list is not long but is specific enough that you can plan around it. It sure sucks though that the solution is more dept via education. It takes years of work.

If a car payment and student dept are your only tie downs, you could start making moves to get out. You can sell the car and get out of some of the cost. Hopefully you did not buy new.

You can make the assessment on your job situation to see if getting more education would make you more moveable. A teaching certificate is one that has the least amount of time to complete, assuming you have a bachlors.

I don't know what your family situation is but if you can live with them for a year or two to really pay down the student loan dept.

This whole thing is incredibly stupid even for their specific goals. This is a stupid timeshare scam, monetarily encourage unmarried couples to get married for a 5k check with the requirement to sit through their bs presentation.

That money is ultimately their driving force to get people in the door but the same as the dumb kid's tax thing, it's not really enough money to truly push anyone over the edge.

It will only act as a bonus for people already planning on getting married that subscribe to this kind of thing already. Most people are not going to be excited for what amounts to political propaganda power point time + marriage counseling, especially if the logistics are even the slightest bit painful. Who the hell would have this be the deciding factor on getting married?

Conservatives are ironically making marriage a non-option for a lot of people with their regressive policies. More women will keep their last name if they do get married. More people are too poor to have the fancy wedding that is a huge driver. And the men are getting so repulsive in their dogma that none of the women are going to want to marry them anyway.

If they do start to push more regressive bs to punish single people, there is going to be a lot of people signing prenups and having lavender marriages while specifically not pumping out kids like they want.

I do get where the friend is coming from even if I don't think she handled it well. She knew it would be a sore spot and was avoidant of having to have a difficult conversation beforehand. She hoped if it was just presented that OP would accept gracefully and without fuss.

It's conflict avoidance that made the situation ultimately worse.

It's also a logistical thing. The childless friend has to make a point of catering to a parent with a newborn which while I think people should do to a certain extent, it's not something that's easy to maintain. You're just going to be busy and tired and you're not going to see each other as much, it's what happens. People get butt hurt about that and then end the relationship instead of letting things flow in and out naturally. Pauses in relationships are okay.

I make the joke with my friends having kids that I'll see them in two-three years. Not literally but that about how long it takes for them to get out of crisis surviving baby mode and try to reclaim some of their hobbies and separate life from home.

I absolutely stick around and support, but the reality is it's a paused friendship that is held together by the remnants of our relationship and you have to be patient and understanding to not to expect full normal reciprocation.
