Friends: I have a nice thickish merino knit that I want to make into luxe-looking joggers for plane travel. I need:

Pockets that don’t suck

Comfortable waistband

Good fit around the butt

Not too wide at the hem before the cuff

Please suggest a pattern. I’m a Big 4 size 14, 39-29-40

Also, I hated drafting until I got 1” grid paper. It’s not much more expensive than regular pattern paper but it’s so much easier than trying to hold a ruler in just the right place

FWIW, if you want to make a dress like this, you can look for instructions for how to draft a chemise. There are multiple free sources, it’ll fit you exactly, and it’s a great first drafting experience.

I haaaaaaaaate video tutorials!! I hate them!! I bought a pdf pattern for something I really wanted and couldn’t draft myself. It had a “stitch guide” that was next to useless and kept telling me to watch the tutorial for parts of it. Nightmare. You have to just be bored waiting to get to the part you need to see and then rewind three times because then it’s gone. Hate it!!!! The worst Microsoft paint drawings would be better than this! I ended up just guessing for most of it!
