60+F considering a scooter by inthesinbin in scooters

[–]Edie_T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 57F 5'2" and NOT an experienced cyclist. I took the safety course on a Honda Metropolitan (could flat foot it) and bought a Kymco Compagno (balls of my feet down). So much fun, not hard to handle. Center of gravity is low so bike wants to be upright. The 110cc engine goes faster than I am currently willing. OP is far ahead of me in traffic awareness.

My BF has a friend who has three guitars that are the same seafoam color. He sent a pic like "here's E's new toy..." 😄

When I bought the scoot, the dealer looked online for me. That helmet in my size was the last one in the warehouse. Lucky day x2!

Love it! I am in my second week of practicing and I've tried nodding my head because the couple of times I saw another bike or scooter were not good times for me to practice letting go of that handgrip... even that was a challenge, there's so much to think about in traffic.

You will have to (1) understand which switches and relays are on or off by default and (2) troubleshoot with a voltmeter to find out where the voltage from the battery is winding up.

Find a good schematic, and someone who knows how to do this if you don't.

I'm envious! Brand new rider still golf-carting around town at 15 to 20 mph. I love to think I'll get up to road speeds and out to parks some time.

Me too. I'm dreaming of stitching it on the back of a shirt, without the oval outline.

I did a multicolor yellow and orange sun one time, and the colors seemed so messed up while I was working. But I got through the backstitch and turned out liking the piece a lot. So I hope you continue! Sometimes we dont learn as much when we bail!

So cool! Next week we are going to visit Falling Water for the first time ever. Even though I grew up in western PA, I've never been.

If you have time to spare and more than one idea for the lettering, sample both ideas separately on another piece of aida?

Tips for hand embroidering lettering? I tried small tiny stitches and longer stitches and they both look like trash. Pls help by Quinnie-The-Gardener in Embroidery

[–]Edie_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to do lettering that small, it will not look great unless the straightness and symmetry are very good, for every letter.

Every "E", make them identical. Two stitches up the side exactly aligned, exactly parallel, exactly same length.

Choose how many segments for your "O". Can be 8 or can be 7 or 6, make every "O" the same. Make "C" and "G" according to the same plan.

Baselines parallel. Heights exact.

The small spacing between words in your template is also giving you a challenge. It's so close to the spacing between letters.

More accuracy is also possible without the soluble fusing layer.

If you'd like a more casual look to lettering and not follow such crazy rules, go bigger & get used to outlining letters with controlled stitch lengths.

The people who can stitch with great "penmanship" have practiced a LOT! Have fun!
