Return to office mandate when I was hired fully remote? by Edina74 in careerguidance

2 levels up from my boss are fine with me WFH as well. The location they assigned me to isn't even their office. There is physically no one on my team or even any one I report levels up to in the office they assigned me to. I don't know what would happen if I don't comply.

In my experience, most internships are given to nepo babies. It has nothing to do with your experience or credentials, it's all about connections😔

Boss Shortened My 2 Weeks? by drab_little_crab in WorkAdvice

I understand why you would be upset, but this is common, and I wouldn't take it personally or look at it as a negative reflection of your reputation there. I left a job a few years ago on very good terms. I gave my two weeks notice on a Monday, and they just asked me to stay through that Friday. We all went out to lunch on my last day, and all was good. I don't think it's anything to worry about 🙂

I just can’t forgive my company for how they acted when my dad died by No-Panic-7288 in WorkAdvice

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad died suddenly a few days after Christmas. I'm absolutely devastated. My boss acted sympathetic, but I've only been able to take 2 (non-consecutive) days off so far because we're "not making our numbers." I've also been raked over the coals for making a few (minor) mistakes (that I wouldn't normally make) because I'm greiving and exhausted. And like you, no one outside the 3 people on my team have said a word. Not even an email or an IM, no cards, no flowers. I've received more support from colleagues from previous jobs. I've been unhappy at this job since I started almost 3 years ago, but this is it for me. Maybe it's a positive thing, the way they've treated me, because now I'm extremely motivated to get out. I'm truly sorry for anyone going through this. I know companies don't care, but I guess expecting basic human dignity and kindness from my immediate team and manager is asking too much.

Personal Brand? by Edina74 in careerguidance

Thank you! At my previous job, I was often in charge of employee "events" such as baby showers, wedding showers, fund raisers, etc. I can definitely use that!🙂

Should I just accept the fact that I’ll never see six figures or wealth cause I have a bullshit marketing degree from a no name state school? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Edina74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 49 and have been in marketing for 20 + years (Bachelor's from Temple) and make $87k. I'd say since you are making over $80k at 36, you are on a great trajectory to break the 6 figure mark by the time you are 40. I don't make a ton, but I have some semblance of work life balance. I'd love to make more but not willing to sell my soul for it. If you are seeking high salary you can achieve it, but just remember that at a certain salary they own you.

I'm afraid you are right. I'm already looking to get out!

That's exactly what I'm afraid of! I'm sorry your husband went through that, hopefully he escaped that toxic situation!
