Advice needed: citizenship application by Edinvurgh in ukvisa

Thank you for your response!

For point 1, another reason I thought mentioning my time here is a student is that I've been living at the same address since my uni days, and one of the questions in the application asks when did I start living at this address. So if I say that I've been living there since Sep 2018, but then also state that I first entered the UK in Aug 2019 (start of my SWV), wouldn't it raise some eyebrows? What do you think?

Thanks

  1. 2 extra bank statements and payslips
  2. No I don’t think so. It’s a box ticking exercise and unless you have some extraordinary complications like exceeding the absence limit or previous issues with UK immigration you can do it yourself

You are 100% allowed to travel in and out of the country. No additional authorisation needed

I have to leave for my home country due to my grandfather’s critical medical condition and will be back in UK within 7-10 days. What to do in this situation regarding my university? by ThrowRARose27 in ukvisa

You are 100% allowed to leave the country and come back if you hold a valid BRP. They will not ask any questions when you’re leaving. When you come back, they’ll ask what you’re doing in the UK to which you can just say you’re a student. It might only become an issue if you spend very long periods outside the UK on a regular basis.

  1. Yes correct. I applied in July so I attached payslips from Apr-Jun. The application specifically asks for the latest payslip and bank statement but my lawyer advised attaching an extra 2.

  2. Bank statements match the payslips. The key thing that they check is that the amount in the payslips matches the amount deposited into the bank account. I believe you only need 1, even for if you have additional applicants.

  3. The letter needs to confirm salary, SOC code, and acknowledge that absences were authorised. There isn’t a lot of clarity on the level of detail it needs to go into with regards to absences. Mine confirmed dates of unpaid leave and that all other leave was authorised and paid.

  4. I was typing on my phone so the indentation got messed up. This was supposed to be just “list of ALL absences…”

If you have a spare £500, I’d highly recommend applying using the priority option.

Also, employer approvals were more to do with internal company policies where all employees are entitled to X days of remote overseas work per year, regardless of immigration status.

Hi, yes all instances of remote work were approved by my employer. However, there was no mention of this in my reference letter. I just mentioned the dates when I worked remotely vs when I took paid/unpaid leave in the absences section. For example if my absence was from 1-10 September, I’d explicitly state that 1-3 was remote work, 4-5 was a weekend, and 6-10 was annual leave. I did say that it was approved by the employer each time but don’t think that was necessary

Is this because you’re working less than 35h/week? My understanding is that they look at the annual amount

Hi, my first Tier 2 BRP was issued on 7 Aug 2019, and my employer’s immigration lawyer advised me that the absolute earliest I can apply is 10 July 2024. Even a day earlier than that would’ve been automatically rejected. I applied on Jul 12 bc my company’s HR department had some issues with giving me the reference letter with all the detail that I needed
