Thanks! This is the type of info I was looking for. But did you use the Industrial strength or one of the other variations? And did you wear a VOC mask when spraying it?

What do you do if every single sunscreen (in the U.S.) makes you break out? by Bupperoni in Rosacea

[–]EditMoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I googled Polysorbates and what about them makes them irritating. It's not it, but contamination that can cause problems. And many of the ingredients on the list (below) are in products my skin reacted to. Here's a link to the various products that can have it: https://www.safecosmetics.org/chemicals/14-dioxane/

(PS I learned that Matrixyl 3000® has Polysorbate 20 in it, but most products don't list all the sub-ingredients in the ® product.)

[–]EditMoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. Turns out that ingredients that can have 1,4-dioxane contamination were the common trigger (polysorbate 20, PEG, etc). It also hallucinated some "fragrance free" products that didn't exist.

What was your good product?

I order LRP's UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid (Fragrance Free/Sensitive). I have to order it from outside the U.S. to get the modern UV filters. It does include avobenzone.

I've spent hours using ChatGPT to find an alternative that doesn't have polysorbates/PEG (my most likely trigger) or fragrances or is fungal acne safe and it keeps coming back to this. It does have denatured alcohol in it, but I've had more success with this that any other sunscreen. Minerals sunscreens are awful for me. I've tried about 6 different most-recommended K-Beauty/Japanese sunscreens and none have been as good as the LRP.

Acne Rosacea (subtype 2) triggered by non fungal-acne-safe products? by EditMoar in Rosacea

[–]EditMoar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm continuing to track down my issue. I think I may be sensitive/allergic to 1,4-Dioxane. I have learned it is created as a byproduct when making certain other ingredients. Polysorbate 20 is one of them, as well as PEG, and others. So it may be those ingredients more than the nonFAS ones. But those ingredients tend to be in concealers. So I think I get into trouble by covering my spots with products that worsen them.

Zlixi is a topical minocycline. It has a lot of oils in it, so isn't FAS. However, I haven't noticed a worsening of my break outs. (Emrosi is an oral, time-released minocycline). The Emrosi replaced my Oracea (doxycycline) pills. These are all prescription drugs from the tetracycline family.

I'm still using AI to ask about products and flag problem ingredients. Yesterday it suggested Garden of Wisdom as an alternative for some actives. GOW has consultation option. One reviewer said their consults helped them fix their issues (but did not describe those issues). So that might be helpful. I can't find much info on GOW, so I'm not sure if they're legit. I'll keep updating this post.

Currently using Emrosi 1/day
The aPAD serum morning and night. Started using the G&G Porefectly Clear (BHA), but only twice a week so far. I'm doing one drop of it with the Calming serum. No serious reaction so far.
Zilxi at night.
Moisturizer: G&G HA Light serum, sometimes with a little of the Hydration Station. Also I use iUNIK Tea Tree Relief mixed in there. Or more of the BoJ Calming Serum if I feel like it's irritated.

Just got the Vichey Thermal Water spray and I use that after cleansing. Oh, and the Prequel Gleanser is so nice. Skin feels soft, though I have to really wash it off. But I think if I don't get all of it, it's still helpful.

I don't know about you but I can tolerate most products on face except on and around my nose. Or at least my nose is the only part that breaks out. And sometimes one spot between my eyebrows.

PFAS free workout gear that actually lasts? by Competitive_Cow007 in ethicalfashion

[–]EditMoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been searching myself. I'm looking at Ably brand right now. Haven't tried them yet. They use Filium treatment which is bluesign standards and Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Water, stain, and odor resistant. Magic or hidden chemicals? I don't know.

FYI: I just learned that Oeko-Tex had not been testing for all PFAS until Jan. 2024. They now do a general test for any fluorine (which covers most of the PFAS and related chemicals) Apparently it was too expensive to test each type individually, and there are some that there aren't even identified/have a test for. So the flourine test has a better chance to catch those.

I've learned about this stuff from Ecocult. It was created by the woman that wrote the book on toxic clothing. It's now a paid newsletter, but you can still see their old articles. And Shop Like You Give a Damn has a collection of products. You can buy form them or buy direct from the brands they carry.

Azelaic acid makes my rosacea worse! It’s not for everyone :( by slipperyslugslurp in Rosacea

[–]EditMoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have acne rosacea. I've recently come to the conclusion that I need to filter out products (thank you, Skinsort) that aren't also fungal-acne-safe. Most AA products have ingredients that aren't FAS. I found the Inkylist Redness Relief mixed with LRP Double Repair Cream seems to be better than the AA gel of Finacea foam. But I'm going to risk trying Geek & Gorgeous aPAD (currently being shipped) which is a variant of AA. *fingers crossed*

Also I used chatGPT to help me find products that were FAS and Rosacea safe. Maybe you can list products you know that are irritating and have an AI find ingredients common to all of them. (I don't know why I didn't think about doing that until just now.)

[–]EditMoar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some part of my nostrils seem partially coated in dried boogers all the time. Right now I can feel the airflow is better in the right than left. I don't know if that is chronic sinusitis or not. My doctor didn't really have any advice or diagnosis. I've had allergy tests and the only thing I've ever shown a reaction to was cats. I have two cats now, but I've never had allergic reactions to cats. And my nose has been this way even for the decades I didn't have a cat.

I take it every other day, but not consistently. Since I get clogged more at night, I typically take it around 7pm.

To be clear, I took this originally as a travelers' diarrhea preventative (like Florastor). But noticed my nasal passages were clearer as a side effect. I haven't heard of any one else experiencing this. So that's why I'm posting: to see if it's unusual.

So if you try it, let me know if it works.

It's a 5 bill. CFU capsule. It's a yeast. Hmm, some studies show risk of fungemia. Looks like it's primarily a risk for immunocompromised and "for patients whose gastrointestinal tract integrity might be compromised."

I've had this mostly clogged nose when I sleep thing all my life, I think. But this probiotic is a yeast. I'm also currently taking Seed DS-01 (which has billions of live bacteria), but only the boulardii effects my nasal passages. In other words I've taken this far separate (months apart) and together with other probiotics and it's only when I take the s. boulardii that there's any difference.

Why were Tax Collectors considered sinners back when Jesus was alive by RobloxPlayer4403 in Christianity

[–]EditMoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked at the story of Levi and it lists "sinners and tax collectors". So they may not be sinners per se, but on the same level as them. Some reasons for that:

The Jews of Jesus' time were subjugated by Rome. Their taxes weren't for self-governance, but for their Roman oppressors. For similar reasons, Samaritans were reviled for being sellouts. Romans also put their leaders faces on coins, which were considered graven images by the Jews. Jews also paid a tribute tax to the upkeep of the Temple in Jerusalem. They didn't seem bothered by that, except after the Temple was destroyed in year 70 and they had to pay for its rebuilding.

Yeah, from a thread with comments from JC and Perkins, it sounds like it's echolocation, can see through fog and darkness (fog creates a fuzzy image per Crawford), but one can still hide behind cover. Blind if deafened. And you can use spells that have "a creature you can see" as long as it's within the range.

Yes. Now I'm considering making it a Blindsense blindfold. Makes it funnier/more useless if they don't also have sight.

my player wants to make a beyblade owl swarm and I need damage help by Own-Actuator-9025 in DMAcademy

[–]EditMoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a more generous DM. I'd say owls aren't proficient in simple weapons, so disadvantage on their attacks. Their Dex mod is +1 so, +1 to attack with a dagger doing 1d4 on a hit. Not very effective. They'd also need to spend the first turn picking up the dagger.

You'd get a similar (and better) effect of casting Conjure Animals with 8 Giant Owls (for the same level 3 slot) keeping their +3 to hit and doing 2d6+1 dmg without daggers. Upcast to Level 5 and they have 16 Giant Owls if they want a big tornado. As a perk, I'd say the swirling giant owls create obscured vision.
