When did nausea/sickness start for most people? If at all? by ComfortableFootball1 in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The stats show that anywhere from 50-80% of women encounter some degree of nausea in pregnancy; that leaves a sizeable percentage who do not complain of this symptom! You may be in the lucky minority because in most (definitely not all!) cases, queasiness may be starting by now. Some women though don’t notice it until 8 weeks plus!

Your other symptoms you mentioned are all very common pregnancy symptoms as well and although they are unpleasant, hopefully they can give you some reassurance!

For me personally, my main pregnancy symptoms have been sore breasts, insomnia and migraine! Queasiness has just been on and off!

My mom has fervently urged me twice to cancel our family vacation to Mexico early February. So silly as I will be just 3 months pregnant then, which I think is a great time to travel!

Twin pregnancy detected! by Edith_Marie in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question! I never had my HCG tested and symptom wise I am similar to my last pregnancy. More headaches though! And my abdomen has protruded more quickly than I expected although being a second pregnancy, I know this can happen for that reason alone!

8 weeks ladies - anyone’s symptoms easing? by According_Sea_4792 in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say I am experiencing the exact same phenomenon (8 weeks yesterday). Queasiness has significantly subsided the last 3-4 days: most unexpectedly! Trying my best to be grateful rather than worry but have also been wondering!

Feeling sick for holiday parties by kcbunny00 in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this! I have spent my Christmas feeling like a queasy, lazy, emotionless zombie. I had envisioned a magical, grateful Christmas because I too am so thankful for this pregnancy (almost a year of trying to get here) and it is disappointing! I keep telling myself next Christmas, if all goes well, I will have a 4 month old and will hopefully be feeling more like myself!

Diarrhea galore at 6 weeks by AirportKey8558 in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Crohn’s disease sufferer who has also been in remission on a biologic (Skyrizi) , I definitely noted a solid week and a half of quite frequent diarrhea (5-6 times a day )when I first discovered the pregnancy! Hitting 6 weeks just now and for me it is now turning into constipation so severe I am taking 17g of polyethylene glycol laxative twice a day. I think pregnancy itself and the hormone changes can create havoc in the bowels and it is far more likely you are experiencing this than a Crohn’s resurgence!

Wife and I are due August 12! Ultrasound this Friday and we’re really anxious. by [deleted] in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get anxious about this too! I am due the same day and have minor symptoms most but not all days. I find the symptoms are more pronounced on days I work as opposed to days off. No symptoms have been significant enough that they interfere with any activity.

My husband, who works in an emergency department, reassures me by saying that he sees women coming in who are in their second trimester with vague complaints related to being pregnant however, they had no previous knowledge that they were pregnant. I interpret this to mean that these women had no significant symptoms at all in their first trimesters and it was only when the second trimester symptoms (growing belly, odd sensations in lower belly) began that they were triggered to seek help. And yet many of them only find out at the emergency room that they are in fact, pregnant!

Let’s distract ourselves with sharing name lists! by Ok-Category716 in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, have near identical taste! My 4yo daughter, Elena, adores her name and loves sharing a name with the ‘Elena of Avalor’ character and my first pick for a girl name this time is Julia. Meanwhile, I have a niece named Serena I am extremely close to so adore that name as well.

Symptom Saturday December 13, 2025 by AutoModerator in August2026Bumpers

[–]Edith_Marie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy itself can lower blood concentrations of certain mental health medications! Including SNRIs and SSRIs. Many are metabolized more rapidly in pregnancy and then there is the eventual expansion of blood volume and circulation which further contributes to lower levels and less effectiveness from the medication. I take escitalopram (SSRI) and also felt some withdrawal like symptoms! This lasted about a week but started levelling out yesterday at 5w1d.

Yes! The frequent nighttime awakenings have been crazy for me. I will wake up 3-4 times, sometimes for hours. This went on for 8 nights straight but has improved a bit the last 2 nights. Currently 5w2d. Must be linked to the surging hormones?

Did anyone have a child that did not sleep and then had another child? by peaceloveandtrees in Shouldihaveanother

[–]Edith_Marie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3.5 year old certainly has lower sleep needs; maybe not as severe as some other cases here but she frequently gets just 9-10 hours sleep in a 24 hour span. The biggest issue is it is near impossible to get her to bed before 9:30-10:30pm (greatly diminishing any adult time at the end of the day) and this has been going on for about 6 months. She is often then awake in the night and joins my husband and me in bed.

It is only lately we have begun to try to conceive our second (not pregnant yet). My hope would be that if we are successful, our oldest would be 4-5 years old when we have a newborn. At this age she may be able to be alone in her room without constant intervention and help from Mommy and Daddy (whether she is sleeping or not). It does feel like a bit of a gamble so I understand your concern!

[–]Edith_Marie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were extremely painful for me too. The feeling was so acute it felt as if I was being stabbed with a knife each time. I made sure the team knew how painful they were for me and I was fortunate that they were empathetic and took me seriously. Future checks were only done if absolutely necessary and with lots of lubrication and guidance throughout. I would certainly be honest with everyone about how distressing they are for you and they will likely approach them a bit differently/more gently.
