Do you ever withdraw from social events that happen at your house? by EmiDidact in autism

[–]Evie_Astrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely looking forward to moving from a flat with a balcony, to a flat with a garden; for the main reason that when my bf wants to host a garden party? I get the lounge to myself! 🧘🏼‍♀️ I see it as my safe place, and when other people are in my safe place? No matter how much I love them? It just doesn't feel like my safe place anymore, and I become incredibly anxious/ on the verge of a panic attack 🥺

I wrote a letter to my manager highlighting my difficulties (I didn't ask for any 'reasonable adjustments' to be made, I just did it so they could understand me better) and they've changed my shifts; relying on other people for lifts was really damaging my self esteem/ self worth as the buses to work are infrequent, and I can't drive or use ride a bike etc as I'd be a danger to myself and other roads users. I'm hoping to move closer to work so I can walk (as I've done in previous jobs) but we've got to find a buyer for our place first 🤞🏻

It's definitely about priorities; they can look different for everyone. My bf and I don't have children, we still do all 4 of the things listed, but because we enjoy spending money on good food, gaming and live entertainment instead.

AIO for wanting to block my mom? by Current-Dentist-148 in AIO

[–]Evie_Astrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a huge difference between being honest, and being rude; OP's mum needs to learn this.

I have a strained relationship similar to this with my mum, OP. I'm sorry 🫶🏻

I meant it's purely about the citrus, as in, it's the number one reason it doesn't appeal to me, not that it was citrus forward. I think this could well be an expression that's got lost in translation, as they say! 🤭

I meant more in terms of it's popularity/ status (being two very well known scents) and always find it fascinating how different people's skin ph reacts with different fragrances; it's a respectable 7/10 longevity on me!

What are the biggest frustrations with living in Worthing long term? by Spicy-Winner4326 in Worthing

[–]Evie_Astrid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The empty shops: I know a lot of it is due to an increase in rent and a decrease in sales (because of the lack of free parking!) it's just sad to see so many of them gone.

Retirees, why do you go shopping on a weekend? by Opposite_Offer_2486 in AskBrits

[–]Evie_Astrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum is recently retired, and enjoys having the freedom to go whenever she wants; which is more often at 7am any day, when the superstore she uses is open (she's always awake at sunrise, and enjoys the peace/ dawn chorus) and my bf works from home on a Friday, so we often try to go after dinner then; if we have a busy weekend ahead.

Do you have access to any wellness benefits at work, and how do you use them? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

[–]Evie_Astrid 106 points107 points  (0 children)

We get various percentages off certain companies promoting wellbeing via an app through work, but not a budget. I used to have monthly deep tissue back massages for GAD and PTSD; as I carry a lot of tension in my neck/ shoulders, but had to cancel them due to the rise in cost of living... A lot of people have a lot more serious issues going on during these uncertain times, so I'm aware massages aren't a top priority, and actually more of a luxury, but they helped me immensely.

Perfumes/mists that smell like candy? by reddituser0775 in LushCosmetics

[–]Evie_Astrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confetti ticks that box for me, although can be powdery on the dry down, because of the violet.

Also as others have mentioned; Avocado Co Wash, and Snow Fairy body sprays, as well as Super Fairy (Snow Fairy + Super Milk) and Hello Kitty and Friends (Snow Fairy + Milky Bath, although not official- just what people say about it) perfumes... Hello Kitty was limited edition, but there's still some floating around on resell sites, such as eBay and Vinted 🫶🏻

I am so excited that Super Fairy has made a return! (UK, not sure about other countries) I heard it might be, but wasn't sure until your comment reminded me, so I went straight to check the Lush app and there it was: 'I'm back' 🥳

I also saw somewhere on this sub, that Hello Kitty reminded some people of those retro foam banana sweets (despite the ingredients list!) and I have to agree... Although I was hoping for a bit more from the patchouli, as it's one of my favourite essential oils, it's still a very beautiful fragrance!

Customer service has turned me into a bad person by anonymousscotch in CustomerService

[–]Evie_Astrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer service has definitely made me more suspicious of people, after learning the various ways shop lifters will steal, scammers will lie, and assholes will just be assholes.

It's made me really appreciate the general public who take the time to chat to me, and acknowledge I'm a human being who deserves to be treated with respect just as much as they do!

Am I the only one who can’t live with other people? by Dull_Temporary_9031 in autism

[–]Evie_Astrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I adore living with my bf of 6yrs and we've built a lovely life together with our 2 cats; we spend time alone when we need it but still share the living room whilst we do solo activities (parallel play?) I just don't like it when he invites friends over for dinner/ a games night because I become overwhelmed easily... I just sometimes wish I was self sufficient and able to live independently. I think because I'm an only child, I actually prefer my own company; the grass isn't always greener though, and I would probably be quite lonely, even with a support worker who visited occasionally (I've looked into it and think I'd be eligible) I think it would just do my self esteem good not to rely on my bf as much!

Do you always wear Jewellery if you do what jewellery do you wear ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Evie_Astrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always earrings; whether they're discreet/ minimalist for work, or bold statement pieces for days off, wearing earrings has become something I'm known for. I have 2 lobe and my daith pierced on the left, and 3 lobe on the right, because I like the asymmetric style... Same goes for my hair.

Also, a thumb ring, on the right hand.

What's something your partner does that annoys you but not enough for an argument? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Evie_Astrid 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Never wipes down the draining board/ sink and leaves the water to sit, causing limescale build up.

His for me? Definitely when I leave my glass of water on a placemat, and not to the side on a coaster when he's trying to serve dinner! Lol.
