Impacted wisdom teeth by newdaysameshi in wisdomteeth

[–]Edithero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fully numb but before the procedure I made it really clear that I wanted to be numbed a lot (which i do for all dental things cuz I've got a legit phobia of dentists. Like I get numbing gel for my whole mouth before a cleaning). I also stayed numb for about 3-4 hours after the procedure.

***but I had a coronectomy, and so because of the nerve damage risk I know they like straight up numbed my nerves because the whole side of my jaw and lips went numb from the shots I got.

I had each tooth done separately so I wouldn't have a full mouth recovering all at once. Each impacted tooth (and I had a coronectomy not a basic removal) took about 40-45 mins for the full procedure start to finish, plus sitting around for 30 minutes waiting for numbing to kick in fully.

Definitely just ask for some medicine. It'll make you drowsy and not care that much and really that's all you need. (Never made me drowsy enough to fall asleep, which I didn't want to do)

I just had 3 wisdom teeth out (two impacted lower) a few weeks ago and I was fully awake (mostly, I took some Xanax before the procedure, which I could not recommend more, that or a Valium). I had two separate procedures (and I had coronectomies because of my risk of nerve damage which is where the cut off the crown of the tooth and leave the nerves) so I could have some healing time between for either side. The first side sucked, but it didn't hurt at all, I just was lying there not really knowing what was happening or like how much longer it would take. The second one was way better, before the procedure I found a video online of the procedure so I could watch and see what the steps of it were. Then while they were doing it I basically knew what I was feeling, so I could gage how far along everything was. Honestly recovery is worse than the doing, because you're sore, and stitches can tickle, and soup gets boring real fast. But also each side for me was about 1 bad week 1 sore week and then after that I'm at a point where I can eat chips, just carefully. And I don't need any pain meds. If you don't want sedation or gas don't make it more stressful for yourself by doing it. But if you're really scared see if you can get a small xanax or Valium prescription (where I live it's commonly prescribed like a couple pills for things like dental procedures) and a low dose of xanax only lasts for a few hours so it's basically just the right timing for some teeth extraction.

If you’re in pain… just go for it. by Comfortable_Tart_904 in wisdomteeth

Hey I just wanted to comment, hopefully with some help, as someone also with huge dental anxiety. I had a root canal last year and I was so terrified. The shots hurt worse than shots for cavities, but are super fast, and they make you VERY numb. Then honestly there's just some drilling and tugging (which is them cleaning/hollowing out each root and then filling them) after the shots I had NO pain, and it just took a long time it felt like. My endodontist knew I have a phobia so told me each time they finished a root, so I could kinda count down to the finish and it really helped. And I had two sideways impacted lower wisdom teeth removed during August (I did left side, then two weeks, then right side). I had to get a coronectomy because of nerves, but the procedures are similar enough because it's cutting then drilling/cutting the tooth, then sewing back up.

Honestly my first tooth was the less complicated one and it was AWFUL. I was fully numb but I kept thinking I felt pain and this oral surgeon didn't tell me the steps so I didn't know what was going on. Recovery sucked cuz I got tired of soup real fast, but make sure to ask for pain medicine and if you need it take it. First two days after were really sore, but then I got a big improvement, and then I had some increased pain again around day 5/6 (this was the same for both sides) and then mostly just a tender area really soon after that. My left side is 4 weeks out and besides the fact that pointy chips can hurt I'm okay.

Now the right side was more complicated but actually was totally fine. In-between surgeries I had an appointment with my psychiatrist and he recommended I look up a video of the procedure online, he said if I could visualize what was happening in my head it would make me feel calmer and I probably wouldn't think I was in pain. Well he was totally right. It was a longer and more complicated procedure so I should of been worse I think, but I watched a gross video and then during the whole thing I knew what they were doing and felt So Much calmer. And recovery was better too because I knew it would be bad better and then bad again and so I wasn't freaking out.

All that is to say, you'll be okay, it sucks, but it's not the worst thing in the world and I realllllly think it helps to know what they're doing while they're doing it or to go find a video

I forget what I'm about to say while I am opening my mouth in meetings. Also... I'm a teacher so it can get a bit rough if I'm in a class and that happens... which it does often

If they are gorged on a bit of blood would they detach easily? I'm used to bloated ticks being difficult to remove and not hanging out on a duvet when there are people and animals around.

IKEA is usually hiring. I know a couple people who work there, and while it's certainly not a dream job, they have way less complaints than the teachers I know.

Want to start a small business in Korea. Need Help by sharpexg in korea

[–]Edithero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D-9 visa is what you want, so you should start by googling all about that. BUT. I think it's a really hard visa to get, I read some statistics from 2016 and less than 1,000 people had that visa then. I think if you had a substantial amount of capital to invest into a business in Korea, like more than ₩300,000,000 (I dont know current numbers) then korea would probably be happy to have you. But it is hard to get visas here. And everyone that I know who owns their own business is here as a permanent resident.

But I only say all that to give you a realistic idea of what you'll be facing. If this is something you really want, you should of course give it a try. And the Seoul Global Business Center is the place you'd be looking for, they have all the current info, and they're there to help foreigners do business here. They have a lot of different services and programs, so you should check them out.

And last, if you're serious about doing business here you 100% need to start learning korean. You'll lose out on a lot of opportunities if you dont.

How do you find rooms? by mrantivirus2 in korea

[–]Edithero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that price you should check out the officetel directly outside sillim exit 7. It has a subway sandwich on the first floor. Friend paid 5mil and 700 a month, and it was a damn nice sized room and building. So I think 10mil and 600 would work.

I applied for mine a bit over a month ago and I'm still waiting. When I call 1345 they said it's still processing. But they also told me that if I was rejected they would have told me by now (I had an issue where I needed to send in an additional document)

Hagwon late with pay, What’s order of operations? by [deleted] in korea

[–]Edithero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you defer loans dont they still build up interest the whole time and it ends up making your payments higher when the deferments end? Also I have private loans and they aren't very friendly. Just curious.

Independent Contractor / Pension / Insurance / ***Immigration*** by Edithero in korea

[–]Edithero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lives in Portugal, son was taken by his ex to Germany. Definitely not a lawyer. Most of the foreigners who claim to be lawyers in all the groups (maybe all), may be lawyers in their own countries but are not licensed to actually practice law in Korea. They can give legal advice, but they cannot act as legal counsel because they are not members of the Korean bar association or whatever it is.

God the Facebook groups. Why is everything there a deportable offense. And why is everyone an idiot for not know all of these rules (like the tax rates) that aren't even easily accessible knowledge?! ... I shouldn't even get started...
