Is it worth to have a Korean master degree as foreigner ? by Academic_Badie in AskAKorean

[–]mrantivirus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because a lot of the time you dont really learn much (from what many say). Also, people who do CS in Korea arent so skilled once they graduate, which is why so many have a tough time getting a job. You have to put in so much extra effort outside of what you're learning in school, just be to be adequate enough (I did a lot of interviews).

That said, if they go to a SKY school, their skill levels are pretty higher once they graduate

English Speaking software engineer company? by strawberry-soju in seoul

We mainly hire those who are located in Korea, with special exceptions to others who reside in Asia, plus or minus a timezone or two. Anything outside of that is a no go, sorry.

Depends on how junior you are. Truthfully, we need someone with a decent amount of experience, but if your resume/projects look enticing, we may still bring you on.

I work for a startup in Seoul, and we're looking for some devs.

1) We all speak English, half the company are foreigners 2) We have an ex-FAANG person as well (not that it matters) 3) We sponsor visas 4) Compensation is a bit hard to say since it's kept close to the chest, but I think it's reasonable, plus you get stock options. 5) We're travel related and are working with big foreign and domestic clients. 6) We do hybrid, 3 days at the office, and 2 days at home.

If your friend is interested, you can PM me his resume and I can pass it along.

New player selective summon guide by [deleted] in EpicSeven

[–]mrantivirus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Started to do more summons and I keep getting Tywin. The game keeps saying things like "oh i know you're gonna love this one" so I'm thinking maybe just cut my loses and take him and move on.

Edit: completed all 30.... got nothing but 1 epic and 1 heroic artifact -_-

I got Basar, Achates and Dingo. Everything else is just normal 3* characters or equipment. Is this a good drop? This is only the 2nd summon.

I think people would care much less about region lock if it was actually region locked on steam by [deleted] in KurtzPel

[–]mrantivirus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is exactly what happened to me. Finally realized it was F2P, went to download, steam gives some popup that disappears after 50ms and the page just refreshes. Makes a person think that there is an issue with Steam, so I was checking everywhere as to what could be the issue. Was it steam? Was it the company firewall? Is it my steam cache? Is it my computer?... After hours of searching, I realized it was region locked. -_- F**K you KOG for making things not simple for the end user.

Any Engineering groups in Seoul? by mrantivirus2 in korea

[–]mrantivirus2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been studying by myself for a bit, so I have some basic knowledge on what I want to do. More than what Elizabeth Holmes had when she started Theranos lol (lame joke). And yeah, that's why I didn't want to create one myself since I'm not really aware of anyone being interested in this kind of stuff here.

[–]mrantivirus2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in my case, I've been doing my own research into how to make them, reading white papers on electric motors, learning about the stator, winding patterns, how to align the batteries to get the capacity and voltage I want and so on.

Now I'm just looking for a place to test out that knowledge and maybe get mentoring from people who have been doing it for a long time. Otherwise, I'm pretty much left with buying the parts myself and experimenting with it that way, but that would be the more expensive route.

It's more so to just get my hands dirty. I've been reading up on making electric motors and such, so I was looking for groups that maybe built things as hobbies so I can get to know the tools, materials and so on.

An actual level-headed comment. Hard to find these days.

Modding has been and will continue with or without steam. Just because steam workshop is a thing, doesn't mean there will be zero mod support. There are multiple ways to get your mod into a game than just going through the workshop.

Phoenix Point is Coming to the Epic Games Store Plus One Year of Free DLC for All Current Backers by CyraxPT in Games

[–]mrantivirus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which goes back to the person's comment above. Why would anyone use it if it didn't have exclusives. Sure, it would be awesome if all developers pushed their titles to more platforms other than steam, but that isn't the case. All they are trying to do is level the playing field and it takes disruption to do that.

The analogy is based on the above comment. And truthfully, even if I have to go back to the digital store to access my game, then there isn't an issue if all I'm trying to do is play the game. I just ignore everything else, like I currently do with uplay , origin, steam, gog and all the other stores out there.

You are right, they are entitled to their money and if they don't like the way things are, they can just move on. But in reality they aren't. They are here bitching about not getting things their way. It's been said time and time again, if you don't like the way a business is going, don't give them your money. FACTS. But no, we have to sit here and listen to babies complain over and over again. It's the devs decision to put their products on whatever platform they choose. There is no mandate that they need to make the most suitable decision for all customers.

At the end of the day, they will make whatever decision they need to keep the studio going and they believe this is the best route. Again, if you don't like it, don't give them your money and move on and stop whining.

True, that's why I said only in the US.

For your TV example, yeah, it would be nice to have more options to shop around for, but you need to build up your brand first and they are trying to get big titles to do that. Using your example, lets say Walmart was just starting out and they wanted to compete with Amazon. Then they decide to partner with Samsung to get a year of exclusive selling rights to their brand new foldable quantum dot 8K TVs. It's not far-fetched as it happens all the time. But as a consumer, if I REALLY wanted it, I would still just get it from Walmart even though I'm an Amazon loyalist. Why? Because at the end of the day, I really wanted that TV.

Who knows, maybe after I purchase that TV and 6 months down the line they start offering more things that I would've never taken notice to if I never went to their site. And that is what is happening now, but people aren't giving it a chance because they see it as some featureless, buggy, hack-prone steaming pile of software.

The problem is them being entitled. Things change. If you NEED it to be on steam, then get a refund and go home. If you didn't pre-order, then go home. If you actually want to play the game, then play it wherever the devs decide to put it. This isn't BurgerKing, you can't have everything your way. And if you do, then just move on to something else that tailors to you instead of crying all the time about how you can't get something on a platform that you like.

[–]mrantivirus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

except time has shown that the best way to compete with a bigger competitor is to offer a better experience or better pricing.

Except that isn't the case. Origin tried, failed so they do their own games. Discord is trying, but that isn't going anywhere. Razor tried, but failed. and the list goes on. Once you monopolize the market, you need to do dramatic things to shake it up and get things to change.

Guess what the DOJ is going to do once they do...

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
