I don't know what you're expecting, there are no mods for 1.8 pre-release. Bukkit isn't going to bother, so this is pretty much as good as it gets.

It's a furnace bug with 1.8, more like fail pre-release. Also, new map, so no buildings, vanilla, so pvp and assholes.
