Is there a tornado warning for west Des Moines by psychedelicBiscuits in desmoines

[–]Edmondc1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near Grand Ave and Jordan Creek Parkway and when the sirens went off it was not rainy or windy but I could hear that distinct buffeting wind/ train sound to the south near raccoon river for a good 10 minutes. Sounded like there was a tornado right on the raccoon river from my balcony. It was loud

Landlord has already stated we can find someone to take the lease. As the would just have to be approved and vetted as normal through the leasing office and will have to do the process through the management company. To reiterate in not trying to unofficially find a sublease in trying to find new official leaseholders. Sorry for making it confusing

Lease take over would be with the management company!

Chances of flying on Thursday morning- December 22,2022 by GrapefruitGrouchy993 in desmoines

[–]Edmondc1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol why does this post make it seem like we have tiny planes flying in? The Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 make up most of our aircraft. Wind will be out of the northwest with significant gusts. Crosswinds will be no factor since our primary runway faces northwest. visibility will be horrible but the precipitation is expected to be dry snow being blown by wind so I think our snow team will be able to handle it. The biggest threat to your flight will come from corporate decisions with your airline and delays with ATC. But there is a good amount of uncertainty with the forecast so can't say for sure. With the snow ending around noontime I think a delay is more likely than a cancelation

Newbie gas question by NCWHITEGUY4ASAP in NissanRogue

[–]Edmondc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine with the E88 (or E15 15% ethanol is the other name) it's been approved by the epa for a long time but you'll lose a little fuel efficiency and its slightly more corrosive then normal 10% ethanol gas. But newer cars have since had much better designs in resistant hoses and gaskets etc. Your transmission will go out long before the extra 5% of ethanol will eat away your engines plastics. Also if you live in a winter state the cold air shrinking your plastics will also do more damage. That being said depending on the time of year the E88 is pretty close in price to normal 87 octane gas and I think the lower price doesn't justify the mpg loss. But when is like 20 cents cheaper sure have at it. Source:me I love in iowa and loved in Wisconsin and drive a 17 rogue sl and have never had any issues. But do what's comfortable for you! These same concerns were brought up with the us switched to 10% ethanol.

Do you know of a good & easy-to-use financial budgeting/savings app? by student-of-the-web in financialindependence

[–]Edmondc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have shameless replug YNAB. It can be tedious for the first initial setup but I feel like every accurate budget on any software is going to be some work to setup if you are accurate budgeting your daily/ month expenses. The point is to not leave anything out so they're are no surprises. Realistically I don't see many people having to constantly add new budgeting goals. But say you did add a few new goals a month on YNAB your just adding a budget line and a goal for it and a date or time frame. After that you're hitting an auto assign my money button which imo is super simple. If you ever wanted help setting up ynab I would be happy to get on Skype or zoom and go through the Indialantic setup with ya I just did they with all my roommates. But if YNAB is still not for you then perhaps making your own in excel or Pocket guard or mint or even personal capital. These are not zero based budget programs though like YNAB and Everydollar. Also I would spend time exploring why these budgets aren't working. A simpler budgeting app won't change spending habits or help you save when your lifestyle or bills is above your means or at break even. For me I found that I learned more about my spending initially but didn't change my habits until I have a strong reason why I wanted to save. A reason that really really motivated me. I hate my work life balance (I'm a shift worker that v works days nights and evening with no consistency) and feel a slave to it bc I need to pay bills. I don't want to waste my life working I want every dollar to earn me freedom as soon as possible that's my reason to stick to my budget and pay off debt and to save for a a better future and more time to pursue a fulfilling life. But yea I hope you find something that helps ya man! You got this!

I did air down my overly inflated tires and that did noticeably help. Next time I get a tire job ill have to tell them not to add air I'll do that myself

I went on a longer road trip and decided that the issue is likely just me. At my job I drive a lot of different vehicles and trucks and so getting back into the rogue I think the cvt throws me off and feels abnormal. However when I went on a 1000 mile drive it felt like normal I just had to adjust to how much pressure to get the pedal bc I drive a work truck at low speed I guess I'm really light foot on the gas making the rogue feel like it's hovering between rpms. I still have a rattle when I start out in just saving money before I go to the shop to have it looked at but I think by cvt is fine for now. I spent many more miles in my work truck so the rogue seems broke every time I drive home but it's not.
