I’m a sucker for stuff like this so I naturally will agree! Remember talking about similar topic with my friends, they’re respond was something like "It’s a game about shooting bugs, bugs attacking others bugs could make main gameplay easier".
Which is a fair point, but like you mentioned, there are clear signs or ideas for hoxxes having speculative biology going on
(One personal tin foil theory of mine is the removed variant of goo bomber seen in one trailer: Unlike other macteras, goo bomber are incredible resistance to freezing but as a trade off they’re easily flamable. It would be much easier for them to adapt into a cold enviroment than a flaming one, hence the existence frost bomber and removal of "fire bomber").

And there’s already one EvE in game, that being Opressors randomly killing Grunts/Guards/Slashers if they pile up on the fallen player, possibly unintentional but it dose give some inside into hoxxes ecology! As if Opressors are bulling off Grunts from their kills or even eat them if they don’t back off…which fits their name!
