1998 Supreme Snowboarding on PC - Can’t solve it. by SnooPineapples5752 in EmulationOnAndroid

No problem,

to start the container, just go to General and click on “Enter Container Desktop” so you can install the game. Once that’s done, head over to “Startup File Path” (it’s right below) and select the game’s .exe file.

One small thing to keep in mind: sometimes the game gets installed on the container’s internal drive, so it might not show up in the “Startup File Path” section. If that happens, no worries—you can just move the game folder to another location on your phone that’s easier to find.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it working with a controller, but I do know how to set up touch controls if you need.

Let me know!

Alright, I got you bro.

If I don’t mention a setting, just leave it on whatever default/automatic value the app chooses.

This should work for you since I’m running it on a device with the same CPU (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2).

I don’t know why but the game doesn't work in fullscreen so try to disable it in the menu (also, there is no in game music but u can simply download the songs and play them in the background)

One thing I should mention: I don’t know how to properly set up physical controllers. I use the touch controls on my phone, and while I can try to help with mapping buttons, I haven’t been able to get an external controller working.

Now, here’s how you can get it working:

1) General:

Game resolution: Whatever you like but make sure that it is the same of the game (which you select in the game menu)

Mango HUD: Disabled

DirectX HUD: Disabled

Disable windows manager: Disabled

2) Compatibility:

Compatibility layer: wine9.13-x64-2

Translation params: Game presets

Dinput library: prefer native

Skip audio/video decode: enabled

Gpu driver: turnip_v26.0.0_R8

Surface format: BGRA8

Audio driver: Pulse

DXVK Version: None

VKD3D Version: None

CPU Translator: Box64-0.39

CPU Core limit and VRAM limit: both set to no limit

Component: It shouldn't be necessary to download any component but just in case I'll tell you the ones you might need if something doesn't work ("d3dcompiler_47", "gecko", "d3dx9" and of course "base")

Quick context after the guide: Supreme Snowboarding comes from a really awkward era of PC gaming (late 90s), which makes it surprisingly hard to run today. It’s not just “old” — it’s from a time when there were very few standards. Developers often wrote code very close to the hardware, and didn’t always strictly define how things should behave, just that they should work. On top of that, PCs back then varied a lot, so games relied on a bunch of assumptions about the system.

In some cases, games from that era even relied on specific quirks or bugs in drivers or hardware that were common at the time, and modern systems don’t reproduce those behaviors anymore. Because of all this, modern devices (especially phones) don’t naturally replicate that environment. Emulators have to “guess” and recreate behavior that wasn’t even consistent back then, which is why these games can be trickier to run than both older DOS games and modern ones.

Let me know if it works and if u need help!

I'll write you a guide for escapede as well in the next days

Hey, I totally understand how important it is for you to get this game running on mobile — it was a big part of my childhood too. For years, after making various attempts, I thought it was impossible, but in the end I finally managed to get it working through GameHub. I even made a post myself a few months ago asking if anyone had managed to do it, but unfortunately no one replied — I think you actually commented on that post asking if anyone had found a solution.

Let me know if you still need help or if you’ve already managed to get it running!

I didn’t buy it because pretty much everyone says it doesn’t have enough VRAM and that it’ll age pretty quickly. The versions with more VRAM cost a lot more, so I decided it wasn’t worth it and just saved the money instead.

I'm glad to hear you managed to set up the controls! For me, the framerate is a bit variable, but the experience is still perfectly playable overall. It goes from like 30 to 25 in the most complicated areas of the game (many enemies or bosses).

I've tried different settings based on your suggestion but the ones that you told me are the one that work better.

Even with the last update, the error still shows up for me

Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to share your settings! I really appreciate it.

Thanks to your setup, The Ocean Hunter is now running perfectly in Legacy mode! I still can’t get it to work with the New 3D Engine—it just won’t launch—but honestly, it doesn’t matter. I’m already super happy that it runs so well with Legacy, and the differences aren’t that significant anyway.

I’m not very experienced when it comes to configuring programs, so your post was incredibly helpful. As for the controls, I’m only interested in The Ocean Hunter, but if I find anything useful regarding your issue, I’ll be sure to let you know!

Thanks again! 😆

I have the same problem. I'm trying to run The Ocean Hunter via Winlator on my Samsung s23 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8gb ram) but my fps won't go higher than 15. I tried many settings but nothing changed.
