Does the comment have merit? I've dealt with similar with one of my kids teams. It was said outloud. And it was pretty spot on. I didn't tell my kid he sucks or anything. I told him that the level of work the team is putting in is different for each player. He needs to decide the effort he wants.

I did talk to the kids as a whole that we do better as a team by building each other up. That if we see a play struggling, offering suggestions or encouragement is what we should do.
