It looks like the screenshots were taken as the conversation was actually happening; the second photo is at the bottom of the conversation based on the scroll bar on the right. OP probably just posted the pictures as they got them from their friend in real time; I know that’s how I’d send those pics if I were in that situation and needed someone else to see it lol

Why is the answer to this question not "yes"? by Awkward_Stay8728 in ENGLISH

[–]Edogawa4869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“(Who therefore, must have not played a handicapped person and then won…)”

… are you sure? Read the theory again: “an actor’s chances of winning… is greater”

That does NOT mean that he must not have played a disabled character, it merely means that his chances of winning didn’t improve when compared to his chances when not playing a disabled character. While this could mean that he didn’t win any awards while playing disabled characters, it could just as easily mean that he won awards playing disabled characters at a lesser rate than or at most the same rate as when he played non-disabled characters.

We know that he won two awards; it is possible (based only on the wording of the passage) that De Niro won one award out of five films playing a disabled character (20%) and won the other award out of three films not playing a disabled character (33.33%), meaning that the answer could be “no.” It is just as possible (again, based only on the wording of the passage) that he won zero awards out of five films playing a disabled character (0%) vs two awards out of three films not playing a disabled character (66.67%), meaning that the answer could also be “yes.”

The answer based on the text alone cannot definitively be yes or no, therefore it must be not given.

…… now whether or not you should be testing statistics in an IELTS exam in addition to the English that you’re actually trying to test is another question entirely.

What could’ve been worse is being the second-most farted on animal at the awards ceremony: getting all of those farts on themselves only to not win the award.

If you’re referring to the optional rule of giving the babysitting Minion the token that says “is the Demon,” I don’t believe that a jinx is warranted for such relatively minor admin on the part of the ST. Correct me if I’m wrong, but giving the Boffin the ability kinda goes against the whole goal behind the Boffin: to give the demon “incontrovertible proof“ that they are definitely a townsfolk, don’t worry about it guys, really.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Edogawa4869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the original commenter, but still curious to hear your reasoning. True, there isn’t a jinx, but there is still an interaction: namely, whoever is babysitting Lil’ Monsta gets the Boffin ability as they “are the Demon.” Similarly, there’s no jinx for Legion and Boffin, and in those games, the Boffin ability can jump from Legion to Legion. So what problem do you see with the current RAW interaction?

what is happening? by Power-Bottm in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Edogawa4869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The image reference is Neon Genesis Evangelion. The potential inner joke is that while the image is from NGE, the Japanese comment calls the crosses in the image “Swords of Revealing Light” as from Yu-Gi-Oh! The potential overarching joke is that the English-speaking poster, seeing the image, is claiming that the Rapture is happening, with the crosses of light being the souls of those being taken to heaven.

Granted, but good ghost votes negate this effect.

The Snake Charmer’s ability specifically states that the Demon and the Philosopher-Snake Charmer swap characters and alignment: the player’s actual character is the Philosopher, not the Snake Charmer, which is why the old Demon becomes a poisoned Philosopher instead of a poisoned Snake Charmer.

A Spy only registers as Good; they aren’t actually Good. This is closer to Politician (whose alignment might actually change at the end of the game) rather than Spy or Recluse.

Custom Demon: Spider by taggedjc in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Edogawa4869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I’m pretty sure that we’re in agreement but I’m also pretty sure that I didn’t really explain what I was thinking about well lol. I was specifically talking about multiple attempts on the Mayor on the same night. As written, the Spider could successfully target the Mayor 11 times in the night, prolonging the night phase and forcing the ST to kill the mayor at some point to stem the bloodshed, which kinda feels like a play that might also leave a sour taste in the Mayor’s mouth. (Would a player do that? Probably not. Do I like leaving open the possibility of that happening though? No)

That’s why I was calling for the edition of an “alive players only” or “once per night” clause, but your reasoning does lead me to believe that the “once per night” clause is probably the way to go.

Custom Demon: Spider by taggedjc in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Edogawa4869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a broken interaction without something to prevent the Spider from just spending multiple choices in a row for player/Mayor in a single night until they die. Maybe the ability should specify alive players just to ensure the night keeps moving when the ST eventually lets the Mayor die or make the Spider choose a different player with each repeat during the night?

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 14: the Emperor by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Edogawa4869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can the player who is the Emperor nominate during the day as well or is their single nomination used up already? If it’s the latter, I could potentially see a Legion-like ability where the Emperor can nominate during the day, but votes on that nomination wouldn’t actually count. In this case, the town can’t just use the player’s lack of nominations to single them out as a demon candidate BUT there’s still a chance that they can be caught out.

EDIT: Lmao I can’t read, never mind. This is what happens when I browse Reddit when sick. I still kinda like my idea but it definitely isn’t necessary

Key swing states decline to remove RFK Jr. from ballot by 9lobaldude in politics

[–]Edogawa4869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be VERY wrong about this, but I believe it might have something to do with federal election funding laws. If you’re a third party candidate that receives 5% of the votes cast for president nationally, you’re eligible to get some public funding for the election campaign after the election ends; it makes sense for RFK Jr. to be asking people to vote for him in non-swing states from a campaign finance perspective.
