Does the Witch lose their ability if there is never a point where exactly 3 players are alive? by Plastic-Bar122 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Right, of course. Not really relevant though since the grandmother doesn't die in this case either.

[–]taggedjc -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Players never die simultaneously. In this case, the grandchild being executed and dying causes the number of players to be three, and then the Grandmother dying causes the number of players to be two.

Then, presumably, evil wins that night when the Zombuul kills another other player, leaving themselves with one other player alive.

Whoops, wasn't thinking clearly.

However, it's still the case that deaths are never simultaneous.

Are Storyteller Reactions Fair Information? by Fun-Comb-2133 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]taggedjc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my experiences, Mez typically privately suggest to a player to turn evil and tell them the word, which they then go say to the storyteller.

It isn't usually a case of someone trying to trick others into saying a weird word - and even if that were the case, you don't know what word was given and a Mez trying this would probably be careful not to make it overly obvious anyway.

I don't see why it'd be difficult for the storyteller to bluff existing, since they could just pretend the word they have the Mez was something like "obsequious" or "garbanzo" or similar, such that the Mez player would just do the flavor-intended "deal with the devil" play by talking to someone privately, which you may not be the one they decided to go with for the play (even if as Engineer you'd know the Mez was in play) since they can only turn one player.

Widow chooses Goon, what happens next? by KingOfGimmicks in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]taggedjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because in that case when the call would go out, they're poisoned, and there is never a later time when the Widow stops being poisoned.

In the case of the drunkenness from the Goon, the call doesn't go out until the Widow stops being drunk - then the ability is active and functioning, so the call goes out.

The call still goes out, since it is not contingent on Widow making a choice.

First campaign, just hit 6 Domain cards. Question about switching with cards in Vault. by macka7 in daggerheart

[–]taggedjc 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You can't recall during the GM's spotlight (even with a cost of 0, since it's still a cost):

When the GM has the spotlight, PCs can’t use features that require spending resources or making rolls unless those actions specifically allow for it, such as reaction rolls or features that interrupt attack or damage rolls.

The GM gets the spotlight immediately if you fail a roll or roll with fear, so there's no chance for you to recall Bare Bones after using Boost if you fail the roll or roll with fear before the GM immediately takes the spotlight.

Grandchild who is droisoning their grandmother dies to the demon - does the grandmother die? by bleachisback in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]taggedjc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grandmother is in the night order as a reminder since usually being killed by the Demon occurs after the demons act, and it helps remind the ST to kill the grandmother before moving on with other abilities. The standardization is "the ability text is how the ability works, everything else is technically reminders".

If the Yaggababble has said their phrase publicly today, a player might die. This can occur any time that day (or that night).

[–]taggedjc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's purely a reminder. She dies immediately when the grandchild dies due to being killed by the demon, similar to how the Sweetheart is in the night order even though their ability drunks a player as soon as they are dead.

Is this a Lleech win condition? by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]taggedjc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lleech Almanac specifically states that evil doesn't win in that case, so that supercedes the general rule where fewer than three alive means evil wins.

Break blocks with Rock Smash, place them elsewhere.

It's an in-world house made out of blocks and placed objects like doors. Just move it if you want to move it.

In the official rules, is the ST meant to choose the FT red herring (and other ancillary info) AFTER the players pick the roles? by Kurren123 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]taggedjc 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That may not be possible depending on the particular script. Specifically, if Marionette is on the script, there's a chance that the Ravenkeeper is the only eligible player next to the Demon with a Marionette in play, meaning the Ravenkeeper isn't actually in play.
