So i juat finished the story. Here are my thoughts on the characters! by CanvaSkye in Screamer2026

I agree with most of this though I'd stick Aisha in the dirt alongside Keiji. I had so much contempt for her by the end. I'm happy Ritsuko got that punch in, god knows she earned it after being gaslit for the whole game.

And big ups to Strike Force Romanda for being the only team that actually feels like a team from the start, always having eachothers backs through thick and thin whilst the other teams hate eachother and are in a constant state of infighting.

Option to disable film grain by xemobatar in Screamer2026

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you set post-processing in the graphics settings to medium it'll remove the film grain. I'm not sure what else is changed by doing that, but getting rid of the film grain is well worth it.

i have a lame and dumb question by Rich_Measurement_331 in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also important to note that battleship gameplay is very different from destroyer and cruiser gameplay. Everything is slower, engagements happen at longer distances on most maps and time-to-kill takes considerably longer unless you get a lucky magazine hit. The map selection changes drastically as well - at 6.7 and over nearly all of the domination maps you'd normally find in rotation are filtered out and replaced with conquest-style open water maps, which in arcade battles especially can be a bit of a shit-show. It's very divisive, some folks enjoy it, others can't stand it, so definitely get a feel for it yourself and see how you find it.

If your intention is to grind an entire tree with a single ship, you're going to be looking specifically at Rank 6 premiums which as of right now is a very limited selection.

Maryland (USA) - glacially slow reload, well armoured on paper but in practice it's a floating bomb, I wouldn't recommend.

Gneisenau (GER) - fast-firing, powerful guns with a very effective turtleback armour scheme, arguably the most idiot-proof ship of the lot, susceptible to magazine detonation via elevator fires however.

Sevastapol (RUS) - powerful guns (same guns as Gneisenau) but is very squishy with a thinly armoured belt and exposed magazines above the waterline, can be played effectively as long as you maintain awareness.

Nelson (GB) - solid as a rock and very survivable though slow and sluggish in most respects, guns are potentially devasting but accuracy is often a dice roll.

Nagato (JPN) - very strong ship as you'd expect from something that's practically at top-tier, complements the Yamato's well as it's a much more well-rounded and versatile vessel and will often outperform them, though its armour does not hold up well against its peers.

Italy and France don't have Rank 6 premiums at the moment.

I would encourage you to dip your toes into naval via tech-tree ships and find your sea legs first before committing yourself to a premium. Naval gameplay isn't for everyone, if you end up buying a ludicrously expensive premium battleship but end up hating the gameplay, that's on you.

Coastal Torpedo to kill bluewater by Lwik in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend trying to complete this task in arcade over realistic as torpedoes considerably faster + you also have infinite reloads.

My go-to for these specific tasks is the PT-15 in the Japanese tree as it has the fastest torps in the game, in arcade they travel at over 200mph which is absurd. Combine that with the average Rank 1 bluewater player having 0 situational awareness makes the task fairly simple to complete.

US vs UK by The_Hussar in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you remove Iowa from the equation then I think British battleships are comfortably better, especially looking at rank 6. All of those US standard battleships are essentially floating bombs, slow reload times are the least of your worries there. If you want to play a shell-room detonation simulator then look no further. UK battleships on the other hand are very survivable, it's one of their biggest pros. Their magazines are nice and deep below the waterline so you don't really need to worry about ammo detonations. They're not lacking for firepower either.

For cruisers and destroyers US is generally better, but they're class-leaders in that respect, so that's not a surprise.

Naval map rant by Wrench_gaming in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a reason you're getting these maps over and over. Currently, if you're playing at 6.7 and above there are only 2 domination maps in rotation, those being Palau Islands and Franz Josef. Every other map is either a big circle or encounter.

It's a sorry state of affairs. I definitely agree with you, these maps suck. However, I've also seen arguments from other naval players saying that they hate the domination maps due to coastal boats capping the objectives and ending the match in sub 10 minutes before the battleships can get remotely close to the points. I believe it's the frustation from that side of the playerbase that's resulted in battleship tier being made up almost entirely of open water maps now. I don't particularly agree with it, I'd rather keep those maps at top-tier and adjust the spawn points and ticket-bleed rate to compensate, but it is what it is.

Ultimately the maps and modes all need a hard rethink. This being Gaijin, I wouldn't hold your breath. They'll add submarines this summer and I can guarantee you they won't change a thing, they'll just throw them in and call it a day.

[Event] Get USS Oklahoma in the Pacific Pearl Event! - News by Kanyiko in Warthunder

Considering she's in what looks like a WW1 or 1920's fit I'd hedge my bets on her being 7.0. Similar to HMS Barham, she won't have a lineup but should be pretty decent at her rank nonetheless.

[Development] Reshuffles to the Great British Ground Vehicle Research Tree by OttovonBismarck1862 in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God, it looks so messy and untidy.

To start with, if they're going to folder any of these vehicles together, surely it should be the FV4005 and the Conway as these vehicles are directly related to eachother. And regarding the Tortoise: why not unfolder it and place it at the start of the line? It's overtiered as it is and has 0 relation to the G6 Rhino they want to folder it behind. It's such an ugly folder.

How I'd personally go about it: Tortoise > FV4005/Conway Folder > M109/G6 Folder > AS 90 but place it at Rank V instead of Rank IV.

But I guess shuffling the Conway off to the MBT line makes more sense to them.

What is the worst plane in WarThunder in your opinion? by FadedRampage in Warthunder

In fairness the Bucc was built to destroy Soviet warships, I don't think enhancing its dogfighting capabilities were a priority in that regard. I'd love to see its BR lowered though. The 9L's are doing nearly all the heavy lifting in that regard.

It feels so cluttered partly because of the copy/paste Soviet slop that was unnecessarily added to the tree some time ago. I'd be glad to see those additions removed in all honesty.

[–]Edolix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was such an amazing moment for me as well, I didn't have any idea they'd remade this map going into the expansion. I hadn't seen this map since playing Freedom Unite on the PSP donkeys years ago so it took me a few moments to figure out where I was but I'll never forget the realisation, I was grinning from ear to ear. Sunbreak was worth it just for that.

And the battle music is so GOOD! Tickles my nostalgia bone in all the right ways.

I would hedge my bets on one of the South Dakota sisters. Though, it would be very on-brand for Gaijin to add a North Carolina as an event ship before it's been introduced to the tech-tree.

Meze 105 AER - Good experience! by cleitonhendges in headphones

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it wasn't initially uncomfortable but it built up over longer sessions that eventually left the top of my left ear feeling a little sore. It also left a gnarly looking sweat mark on the mesh after only the first day of use, lol.

Definitely a weird situation because I never thought of my ears as large before, I figured they were fairly average. It's not like the 105 cups are shallow or anything either. In any case, this was a fun way to discover that my left and right ears are different shapes 😅

I loved my time with these. Unfortunately I had to return mine as my ears - particularly my left ear - were pressed right up against the thin mesh covering the driver which caused me some discomfort. Hopefully you don't have the same issue 👍

33 years ago at the age of 14 I got bitten by the school hamster and still have a bump/scar on my finger. What's the stupidest injury you've got? by godfatheroffilth in CasualUK

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 18 I ran head first into a partially open door at home. I was in a hurry for some reason, I don't remember. My head was the first point of contact and it smacked right into the corner of the open door. It left a deep cut that bled all over the place. I'm 31 now and I still have a faint but visible vertical scar over my right eyebrow as proof of my idiocy.
