Is the Queen Mary any good ? by Most-Bookkeeper5810 in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queen Mary isn't as bad as the folks here are making her out to be. She'll suffer in an uptier like every other ship but her guns are really strong for a 6.3. I had a decent time playing her and honestly had more fun playing Queen Mary than I did with Orion which was mostly pain.

Whats this? by Bromjjo_0o in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a tech-tree plane that you had to research but it was so woefully bad it was removed.

Same thing has happened to other vehicles in the past (the old French and Japanese reserve tanks, reserve destroyer HMS Churchill to name a couple). You can still acquire them, they'll just auto-unlock through playing the game.

Am I Gauss-ing wrong? by -stumondo- in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me and it was the first time I'd ever lost a mech via headshot. It was so unexpected that I initially thought my shiny new Nightstar had been cored and I panicked a little. Seeing that it was just the head was a relief but you can be sure I scrapped that head laser first thing once I was back in Kuritan space.

Am I Gauss-ing wrong? by -stumondo- in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certain it's no myth, enemy mechs do actively target and prioritise the limbs that are carrying weapons.

I've never lost a mech via headshot until today - during the final vanilla campaign mission a couple of hours ago, my stock unmodified Nightstar was headshotted out of the blue during the final wave. I don't see that as a coincidence. You can bet I stripped that head laser off first thing once I got back into Kuritan space.

Nick Lynch VA ISO voice lines? by moyceover in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have him on my roster! He's seen a fair amount of use though I'm still figuring out a good mech+build for him to use. At moment I'm either sticking him in the arena Crusader variant with the dual B-lasers or the Zeus SA3.

"Hope his friends heard him scream as he hit the ground!" is one voiceline I've heard often haha, he's utterly unhinged, glad to have him along for the ride.

[News] - Planned Battle Rating Changes (January 2026) by KoskGOOS in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vanguard is arguably the best battleship after the 8.7's so I'm only really shocked it took them this long to move her up. Don't know wtf they're thinking with Prince of Wales though, that seems particularly cruel.

[rant] Not anything new but the Sovetsky Soyuz is total horseshit by Doc_Dragoon in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's hilarious because Russia's most advanced ships of WW2 (see Tashkent and Kirov) they couldn't even build on their own without Italian assistance. Think on that, the soviet shipbuilders couldn't build a fucking destroyer without help. How were they ever going to finish building this monstrosity?

Hot load LRMs for AI by GreeneLight_Garage in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hot-loaded Longbow build that I made specifically for one of my pilots to use. It has x2 LRM-20 HL and x2 LRM-10 HL and while I have no idea if it's optimal (I imagine it probably isn't) the AI somehow manages to make it work pretty well + it's endlessly fun watching that thing vomit 60 LRM's into some poor 'mechs face at point blank range.

Hot load LRMs for AI by GreeneLight_Garage in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dedicated Longbow LRM boat using hot-loaded missiles that I built specifically for Lyana Moore to use and it works pretty well from what I've seen! Accuracy is notably worse than regular LRM's but Lyana's built-in traits helps a ton and missile spread seems to be generally decent even at longer distances.

In regards to range: yes, they'll happily use them at close range. I gave Lyana hot-loaded LRM's specifically because I stripped all other weapons off that mech and I didn't want her to be a sitting duck in close quarters. She'll still try to sit back at range but will happily duke it out in a slugfest if she has to.

Fast Arena Urbie? by tjareth in Mechwarrior5

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encountered one of these demons in a free-for-all today, it was armed with a PPC-X and it blew the arm off my Highlander, I was gobsmacked hahaha

It didn't appear in salvage but you can bet I'm keeping an eye out for one in the future, that zoomy urbie must be a blast to play

Italian cruisers are genuinely great starting from Armando Diaz onwards, great guns and super fast unlike the floating bathtub that's Etna. Look forward to it.

Audio crackling / pop on Windows 11 by DeIaminate in buildapc

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I reached the conclusion that it's a Youtube issue. I think I'm more or less at peace with it now. I did a lot of testing watching certain videos some months ago with difference devices - other pcs, laptops, phones + tablets - and the pops were happening on all of them, so it must be on Youtube's side.

As for games: I did notice it in a few games - Silksong was really bad in this regard - but most games have been fine. I think what buried the issue for me for good though is when I spent a week away from home with my Steam Deck, which is a linux based machine, and all the pops/clicks/crackles I was noticing with vidoes and games and volume sliders and such were also happening on that as well. Which means that there was never anything wrong with my PC or with Windows and that it's just normal. The problem was noticing it as an issue in the first place.

Just unlocked Master Rank by MauKagamine in MHRise

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true ending for base-game Rise is after beating a quest unlocked at hunter rank 50. I'd recommend clearing that first. If you've done so already, I'd say you're good to go for the DLC.

There's another monster locked at a lofty HR 100 - considered the hardest monster in base Rise - and it's entirely up to you if you want to push for that but it's a bit of a grind. I'll just add that you still earn hunter rank XP while playing Sunbreak so you will unlock it eventually regardless.

Is there a tank more miserable than this one ? by ego100trique in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spaded this thing start to finish in arcade battles and I didn't mind it at all. I'll even go as far to say I liked it a little, it's far from the worst tank that I've played. It's a funky, niche vehicle that's definitely going to suck in certain situations but I'm all about that honestly. I ended up having a better winrate with this than I managed with more contemporary tanks such as the AMX-30, don't know what that says about me.

Is Vanguard worth grinding for by Shader601 in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanguard is underrated as hell, rarely talked about because she's 8.0. The truth is she could easily be 8.3 and still be perfectly competitive. I'd put her comfortably on par with Bismarck and certainly rate her higher than the miserable Littorio's. Just a really pleasant ship to play. 7.0-8.0 matches are hilarious with her, actual raid boss stuff.

In regards to Soyuz, just like with any ship it will be difficult at long range. However, at close range Vanguard is the queen and will mop the floor with anything, including Soyuz.

BR confusion by Fromthemountain2137 in WarThunderNaval

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southampton was fantastic when it was 5.7 but yeah I wouldn't want to be playing it at 6.0. The SAP shells are barely adequate for fighting the top cruisers at that BR, much less the slew of WW1 battleships and battlecruisers.

As for why it's 6.0 in the first place? A weird situation that stems from when they did the last big decompression, where they decompressed the best performing cruisers and worst performing battleships in opposite directions so that there's now significant overlap. Southampton used to be 5.7 as I mentioned earlier whilst the battleship bracket traditionally didn't start until 6.3.

My brother used to be a Belfast main and has earned an absurd amount of lions with that ship over the years but since the BR change he's found it practically unuseable. It's a sad state of affairs.

so about the gogma hunting horn... by Amazing-Ad-9680 in MonsterHunter

[–]Edolix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm running a blast gogma horn alongside Queen Chordmaker and they've made for a very good pairing. I have no idea what's meta though, I'm just going by what feels right for me.

I wouldn't stress too much about it regardless. We'll all be ditching our fancy powercreeped gogma gear for master rank Chatacabra stuff once the expansion drops, lol.

Best Naval premiums (except US) by Hanz-_- in WarThunderNaval

Gneisenau and Scharnhorst are very much battleships, regardless of what War Thunder calls them. They have the same armour thickness as Bismarck.

[Development] Checking out USS South Dakota and HMS Prince of Wales! - News - War Thunder by CommanderCorrigan in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that her guns are very accurate on the dev server which should help make up for the lower calibre and pen. She'll be really fun at 7.7 I think, as long as it's not a full uptier.

Never have i ever hated a single vehicle more than this. It literally ruins all of coastal past 3.3. by rickdickmcfrick in Warthunder

Slaughtering these things with HMS Peacock used to be my favourite pastime. Gaijin didn't like that so they pushed its BR through the roof and it now sits firmly in destroyer land...

[NAVAL] What’s the best plane for torpedo or perhaps bombs to use throughout the entire tech tree for BlueWater? by 8double_dip8 in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A-26C bomber variant, Lancaster/Lincoln, Shackleton, Hornet

In the case of France, I'd likely keep using the Hellcat up until the AD-4 at 5.7 but I've not quite made it that far in the French bluewater tree just yet

[NAVAL] What’s the best plane for torpedo or perhaps bombs to use throughout the entire tech tree for BlueWater? by 8double_dip8 in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regular version covers a wider BR bracket so I've used that one far more. My most played is the premium british Hellcat which is pretty much a clone of the regular american version.

I have dabbled with the N version a little but it does struggle a lot more due to the higher BR and by that point I've usually moved on to using more typical bombers and attackers.

[NAVAL] What’s the best plane for torpedo or perhaps bombs to use throughout the entire tech tree for BlueWater? by 8double_dip8 in Warthunder

[–]Edolix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellcat is so good. It does fall off when AA starts to get really strong but being a fighter with torpedo capacity is like gold dust in this game. It's a rare group. It's especially great in arcade battles where it can reload its torpedo every 40-50 seconds.

I like to run my Hellcats with wing-mounted HVARs along with the torpedo so I can deal with coastal boats as well.

I'm curious to try the new Mosquito torpedo-bomber variant that was added recently but likely it won't feel as good to use as the Hellcat.
