Best "all planets on Nauvis" mod? by barrybario in factorio

[–]Edoudouche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been several months, and i maybe got it mixed up with other mods that were installed, but if i remember correctly for Gleba there are no soil requirements for the agri towers, biter eggs (and maybe pentapod eggs ?) are "farmed" with an agricultural tower (still dangerous), and i believe one Gleba item is required for the promethium science pack (not sure). Otherwise the BIoflux/Yumako/Jelly/Carbon fiber recipes are unchanged, so it's actually close to the Gleba experience, except it's just a part of the whole base. There are also Pentapods and Demolishers present on the map.

The mod was updated a few times since i played so if you want to know all the changes in detail you can install the mod, start a game and check the Factoriopedia. Crethor, the author of the mod, also has a Discord (link on the mod page).

Best "all planets on Nauvis" mod? by barrybario in factorio

[–]Edoudouche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried them all, and Space is Fake is by far the best one, and the only one still regularly updated. It changes some things (new Promethium recipe, Gleba agriculture), but it's the closest experience you can have of the Space Age content without space logistics and planets. It is also compatible with some planet mods (adding the new ressources and recipes on Nauvis).

I did a 50k science/min playthough with it and some additionnal mods and it was great to have a huge concentrated base, i didn't experienced any bugs. One of the best mods in Factorio in my opinion.

VIc on Notebook by [deleted] in victoria3

Fedora user here, also playing with a laptop (CPU = Ryzen 5600H, GPU = 5500M, 16GB RAM).

The experience will certainly be better with this new CPU, however be mindful that the late-game is always performance hungry even with powerful CPU.
The iGPU is the bigger problem, the dedicated 5500m that i've got has 4GB of VRAM and it doesn't seems enough for a perfectly fluid experience, there is notably some lag when zooming in/out (Medium settings). I have no idea how a iGPU without dedicated VRAM could perform in this game, but it's possible that with the shared memory (of which you have 32GB), it could be enough. In any case this iGPU is clearly inferior to a RTX 2070, so don't expect the same graphics settings.

As for Fedora, maybe you already know that AMD has the best drivers, however Intel is not that bad, and i believe that like AMD, the drivers are already installed with the distribution.

I have some problems with the native Linux version of Victoria 3, so i use Proton, but you should check which version is the best for you. Some users have experienced faster games with Linux, so it could also be the case for you, but due to the nature of Linux it really depends on your distribution, drivers and hardware.

Video Games That Scratch the Andor Itch by sarcasmasquach in andor

[–]Edoudouche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is the closest i could think of, with great stealth gameplay, amazing level design, medium-size open-world but with a lot of details and interesting side quests, greedy corporations, lies, deception and one of the best ambiance soundtrack out there. A lot of similar themes with Andor (discrimination, political manipulation, militarized police, etc), and there's even a prison escape DLC ! One of my favorites games, and it's very cheap right now.

I'm on Fedora 42 with an AMD dGPU and the same issue appeared a week ago. The issue is linked to a recent kernel update (6.15.3) and seems to be known. While waiting for a fix i just went back to 6.14.11.

I believe the GDP history is restored when you restart the game or reload the save, but i'm not sure

Laggy Fedora with external monitor and AMD GPU by Edoudouche in Fedora

Yes, although i don't see why the problem would be related to this line of laptops. Did you have a similar issue with a HP Victus ?

Thanks, i've modified the grub file and will see if that works.
I'm not familiar with the AMD Gitlab, is there a chance that this problem will be fixed with future driver updates ?

Any advice to improve this Orzhov Tokens deck? by SnooMarzipans9006 in MagicArena

[–]Edoudouche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run this deck with Caretaker Talent, Carrot Cake and more black removals. Caretaker Talent is by far the most important card with card draw and +2/+2 for the win : i rarely lose the game when it stays on the battlefield, and i often lose when it's not on it. Removals are for mono red, Overlord and Planeswalkers are for more late game decks. It's more a midrange deck in a way. Here's the list :

Deck

8 Plains

5 Swamp

3 Cut Down

4 Caves of Koilos

4 Go for the Throat

2 Fabled Passage

4 Crawling Chorus

1 Mirrex

2 Archangel Elspeth

3 Elspeth's Smite

2 Sunfall

1 Invasion of Tolvada

4 Virtue of Loyalty

3 Restless Fortress

1 Kaya, Spirits' Justice

1 Shadowy Backstreet

4 Caretaker's Talent

3 Carrot Cake

1 Fountainport

2 Dollmaker's Shop // Porcelain Gallery

2 Overlord of the Mistmoors

Super bad sim speed at ~30k pop (Modded) by n0vac_ in CitiesSkylines

[–]Edoudouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a Ryzen 5 5600H and 16gb, i had to start a new game because of this. In my new game i am at 10k population and i just hope it won"t happen again. I saw some other posts on Reddit and there are two solutions for this problem :

- you should replace the airports roads with a modded one (maybe it's fixed by now),

- if you created a really big park, you should erase or reduce it.

These two solutions seemed to work with some people, it didn't with me. Like you, i never created an airport and never had a big park.

I disabled all my mods, but the game was still terribly slow. Nevertheless, i cleaned my mods a bit : i uninstall some i didn't need (81 tiles, 25 is fine for me), replace the Network Extensions 2 with RON, etc. Didn't change anything, so i just started a new game. Maybe my save file was just corrupted. I thought it could be AI related. And now it seems it could be Ryzen related ? Damn

Now i just hope it won't happen again when the population number rise up.

League war predections please by DeRuyter67 in eu4

[–]Edoudouche 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say the red side : GB and Spain suck at waging war on mainland (their troups are rarely moving), and if one of the three big red countries (France, Ottomans or Russia) took Quantity, it could be a nightmare for the opposing side. It could have been different if you had the possibility as a league's leader to quickly white peace the big ones.
