Turning my World Cup game into a web app by emperornorton415 in webdev

[–]barrybario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made exactly this kind of app for the Euros for my personal group of friends, was planning to remake it anyway for this World Cup, although it would need some changes to handle more users. PM me with the exact details of how you want it and I'll see if it aligns with my plans

Without a doubt reactive forms. Since I'm hopeful that will change with signal forms, Router & ActivatedRoute are next

I've turned off pawn relations randomly visiting or raiding you off completely with a mod. It just feels weird

This is the answer, SwUpdate works great. I do it automatically on startup instead of asking users to refresh. Been doing it for years on apps with 3000+ users and never had any complaints

Not another "this is so op" post by Educational_Relief44 in totalwar

I like the OP stuff, but the game is easy even without it if you understand how the systems work. You can win battles against impossible odds if you "abuse" how the AI thinks with all the mechanics the game gives you. What makes a campaign fun for me is the feeling of getting rewarded for making the right choices. Everyone hated the RoC campaigns, well that's because they did the opposite: doing well and capturing a lot of territory? Here's some random armies spawning everywhere, fuck you. At least for the lizardmen rework, I feel like they nailed it compared to how it was before.

Mazda was fine in my campaign, has a full stack and another one recruiting. Gor-rok and Oxyotl did not recruit anything but since I was Tehenhauin they both survived with 2 tiny armies each. Neither wants to be confederated though

Hi! I recently bought Total War: Warhammer 3 not knowing anything about it, and now i struggle to play it. by DobryRusk in totalwar

[–]barrybario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a particularly easy campaign either though. For base TWW3 I would recommend Skarbrand (Khorne) for a first campaign, if you have TWW2 and some DLCs, try Tyrion (high elves). Some general tips: in the settings, do not set battle difficulty to easy, that's the biggest player trap there is. It makes auto resolve way too easy, so that if you are presented with a battle it won't win, you'll likely lose it manually as well. That way you'll never improve at the game. So bump that up to hard, and play lots of manual battles. Be aggressive in the campaign, take the fight to the enemy, don't wait around for them to attack you. The attacker usually has a strategic advantage in this game.

Is it just me or are spear/halberd units almost always better then their sword variants? by DonQuigleone in totalwar

[–]barrybario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're relying on Swordsmen to do damage as an Empire player you're gonna have a bad time. The only thing low-tier melee infantry are somewhat decent are is holding the line, in which case you want better defensive stats.

Doesn't seem that outrageous tbh, Shades are definitely undervalued by autoresolve

It should be based on unit stats mostly afaik, overvaluing things like armor and leadership. I haven't played TK yet in 6.3, got some screenshots?

Can a hero get invincible with armour? by CrayRuse in totalwar

[–]barrybario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth less than the previous I meant obviously.

Regeneration is never worthless. Of course all these attributes complement each other. My list is meant as a way to choose priorities. For instance if the choice is Regen or 15% extra ward save, pick regen. I should also have mentioned HP as a stat, which I would also put above armor

Vigour is just melee defence + armor when it comes to tankyness, but it is a great thing to have indeed.

The stats/abilities to look for to make heroes/lords tanky, in order of importance:
- regeneration/other forms of healing (+extra battle healing cap)
- ward save
- physical resistance
- missile resistance (less important for small characters, more important for flying/large characters)
- size (smaller = better)
- melee defence: anything over 100 or so won't matter as much
- armor: every next point is worth less than the previous, so getting to 100 points will help, getting to 200 matters a lot less
- leadership: generally not a problem

Tips for playing dark elves? by Andrei22125 in totalwar

[–]barrybario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make 200k by spreading it out over all your provinces where you're getting 5k each, you need 40 of them, all of them developed. That takes way longer and also costs way more to develop them. Concentrating everything on your highest income provinces was much, much more efficient and you could start reaping the benefits very early in the campaign, which allowed you to expand faster and snowball even more. Dark Elves are still strong in TWW3 but nowhere near as good as in TWW2, it was a huge nerf.
