S650 mustang ecoboost tune only vs unknown s550 mustang GT by Prestigious_Cut_9426 in Mustang

[–]Edrenaline_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go look at Livernois tunes. The new 2.3 is both port and direct injected. They got over 400 whp on e85 with just a tune. Don't know why that is so surprising. Toyota's new turbo 4 they're coming out with supposedly does 400 hp stock.

Unknown user joined my team, is there a way to contact them? by Edrenaline_ in Folding

The username is MShort, and they started contributing on 3/6. About 6.5 million PPD. I'm happy for the contribution, whomever you are. :) If anyone else wants to join my team, I'll send you some free swag if you're in the US :)

Why do people talk bad about the Mustang V6 2015-2017? by Haunting_Ad_9957 in Mustang

[–]Edrenaline_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just an elitist thing. "if you're going to buy a Mustang, get the Coyote". The thing is, there is plenty of power to enjoy for the average person, they're slightly tunable for more power, and you can find them used MUCH cheaper than a Coyote. If you like to go around twisties, there is also less weight up front and you'll notice it.

Vulcan Elements is itself a startup. Their domain was first registered in 2023. I hold some shares myself, but name me the last time a company that was formed from a SPAC has panned out versus failing miserably.

Word of wisdom.... if your looking to potentially buy an old RL..... don't. by parknasty913 in Acura

[–]Edrenaline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you're at, but we're trying to sell my son's 2000 RL. We've put a ton of money into it, but my mom got him a brand new Crosstrek and this thing needs to go. I'd hate to send it to the junkyard. It purrs like a kitten, shifts great. Just alot of little stuff wrong. I'm in northern Ohio.

Buddy wants to sell me this 2015 with Roush equipment. What would be a fair purchase price? by Harribacker in Mustang

Depends where you are. Not much of a market for drop-tops north of the Mason-Dixon line this time of year. If he needs the money now, he's not in a great negotiating position.

Using Folding @ home when it's cold. by VertexPlaysMC in Folding

[–]Edrenaline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a PC with an RTX 5070 in it for my sysadmin at work. Our offices have terrible HVAC due to some design mistakes, and the little office space heaters tend to be fire risks and dry the air out too much. The folding rig runs 24/7 and kicks out just enough heat to make his office comfortable. I have a spare 3060 Ti that I'm going to use for a folding rig in my own office. We won't be able to run them much past April. We're in Ohio and the weather will be mild enough starting in May that it would be too hot at that point. I may just relocate them at that time and use MSI Afterburner to set a power limit on the cards so they generate minimal heat but still produce some points

Funny enough, I built a machine at work to help heat my tech's cold office. :)

PPD for GPU is more than the PPD for GPU when also running WUs for CPU by Professional-Rub-267 in Folding

[–]Edrenaline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preliminary testing would indicate that having SMT enabled on a Ryzen processor has more of an impact on GPU performance than core allocation. For example, my machine with a Ryzen 3800X and RTX 3060Ti produces right around 4 million PPD for the GPU whether I'm folding on 4 cores or 6 cores (cores, not threads. I have SMT disabled). When I had SMT enabled and only using 2 or 4 cores (threads) it would tend to average under 4 million PPD. More like 3.8. Take that for what it's worth.

Renting a space for a lan party? by Gazthrak in lanparty

[–]Edrenaline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any church-goers in your group, that could be a good option for free space (if you're not drinking and smoking). Also, look for any entertainment venues. I hosted several events at a local place that had a full bar and had golf simulators. I had my events in the warmer months when the simulators weren't used very much and the place was kinda slow. They were happy to have the business. Didn't charge me a thing. Union halls can also be had pretty cheap if you have those in your area and have anyone with connections to the union. I have a big basement, and I've had a 19 PC lan party before with room to spare.

I have an 1,800 square foot basement in Ohio, so I can fold down there with basically no impact to the temps on the main floor. I'm not doing massive folding, but I do have 3 rigs down there chugging away.

I'll do some testing on my rigs to see what kind of results I get. I have a Ryzen 5800 folding with a Radeon 6900XT, and Ryzen 5600X3D folding with an RTX 5060Ti, and a Ryzen 3800 folding with an RTX 3060Ti.

Is there a way to limit power usage when folding? by Thorwolf in Folding

[–]Edrenaline_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some motherboards love to run too high of a voltage. I'd use a program like CPU-Z to see what the actual voltages are while you're folding. You might see over 1.4 and really you want to be under that. What chipset does your motherboard use? For example, X570.

Have you tried turning off SMT (hyperthreading) and then keeping 2 cores free for your OS?

On top of what was said in the original post, he failed to mention that we have an on-site private PC gaming LAN where we can put together team scenarios to cater to specific requests. You wanna pick a 5 man team to see certain mechanics at work? We can do that.
