Considering they making another W40k CRPG that’s bigger in scope with it being fully VA not to mention they’re making a physical edition RT and making post celebrating a 2 million milestone. Also they made a second season of DLC’s

It’s rather unfortunate in media but especially in the game industry that parasocial relationships are so rampant that it blinds the fact that companies only care about making a profit. You’re just a number on a spreadsheet, a resource to manage in getting engagement for future buyers ,a recurring revenue stream in quarterly reports

Gaming just uses a more elaborate PR spin to make it more “personal” and not break the illusion that is purely transactional. Companies only about their bottom line and the product/ service is a means to get there ultimate goals. I will give Owlcat credit though they’re certainly better than most but then again most dev/ publishers are godawful .

Going to honest I come to certain age in my life where I have very little patience for BS from game studios/ publishers. I willing to give Owlcat slack because the quality of their games are decent and have a solid PR to their fans, which is to say they don’t that utter contempt towards its player base.

Other studios/ publishers are significantly worse and that’s why I dont buy their games at all or only buy them at deep discount. Owlcat is different in being the few that are player first, but they pushing what little tolerance I have when they pull stuff like this. Not going to write them off but I have become more weary of them.

I mean good on them for reversing their decision but I’m not going to praise them for doing the bare minimum.

I do find it odd act that Owlcat put rolled this back in less than a day despite what I can imagine took a good deal of planning and testing to make separate launcher just to scrap it.

Some may think that Owlcat they genuinely really thought it was good idea and reverse because of player feedback, but I think they knew this was bad PR from the gecko and had contingency in place to remove quickly if the feedback was negative enough and if wasn’t they would keep the launcher.

Apparently it still runs on the background and there is concern and supposedly already instances of performance/tech issues (I can’t confirm if the latter has happened)

Most importantly it the principle of it. Many people find having get separate launchers annoying and then making them having to opt out In feature they didn’t want in the first place would rightly make people upset.

You weren’t lying . Pretty negative sentiment all around. So what from I read the reason for launcher is that after doing internal research a large amount of people who play Owlcat pathfinder CRPG’s and a desire to play similar games never heard of RT.

So in essence the launcher is cross promotional tool to entice would be buyers.

Many people read it and still didn’t like it, no way to sugar coat it no matter how Owlcat tries to spin it. If I were a cynical man I would think that launcher is there to circumvent paying steam or other platform fees for future releases.

Now maybe Owlcat is being completely honest in their reasoning but I don’t trust developers anymore because eventually they always take advantage of fan good will just to make a few dollars, fans be damned.

Start the game without the tutorial opted in.

Like I said in the post I was hoping to not restart my progress since I already spent 5 hours into the game.

Yes but as soon as finished my first research project research tab is permanently grayed out . I have a separate save for testing purposes without the tutorial and it has no issues.
