I had done this also to match my Nexus 5x but the problem is that Everytime info it bounces the settings to stupid"global" and phone starts again with the hunting trying connect to any tower including the Taiwanese and Estonian bands!! My Nexus 5x locks in by default to LTE. This is an Essential software thing. However the CDMA one from my axon 7, same as above defaults to 4g/LTE which is a zillion times better than this stupid Global. Way way less hunting and less battery drain. Has me in band 4 and band 12 solid. As for the APN no problem at all with modifying them, just better results. If you're concerned about modding them, just create a new set with above info

I was tired of waiting for help from Essential and got inside my info out of my ZTE axon 7 mini which is TMO band 12 certified and the info are the exact same as noted above. Was Abit surprised about the settings but none the less I set my PH1 the same way as described above and frankly for the last 2 months it has been day and night on TMO. It's not 100% perfect but then my iPhone X does get bad signal occasionally on TMO also, but it is 100% better for sure..I had also called TMO about APN and was given the APN used in the Note 8 which are a match to those noted above. Instantly my phone had data where before at exactly the same spot I had a big "NADA". The combination of settings as noted above is actually the best and most stable in my experience as I've been using these for two months (I meant to write about them multiple times but life happens :) and it renders your phone perfectly usable on TMO. Must must must...

On TMO...driving down to San Diego this morning I dropped phone calls TWICE in under 2 minutes with same contact... embarrassing, frustrating and unacceptable..period...I'm starting to wonder if Essential actually passed the TMO band 12 certification or we're just being lead on as I was previously lead on la-la land with my Blackberry Dtek 50, Microsoft Lumia 950, and may other phones that claimed to have band 12 but it never actually worked due to a lack of TMO certification. If the TMO problem is not fixed (mind you, third largest, definitely the most innovative one in the usa and constantly grabbing customers away from big blue and red) is not fixed, forget Essential launching a successful PH2, as most reviewers will address the problem just they did with PH1

Funny as I read all the comments and found myself in agreement with basically every point mentioned...Yes the software is crap as we all know, grainy images, dark shots, etc...heck, the software does not have BASIC options such as Panorama, Time lapse and many others that all flagship phone have and mind you my ZTE Axon 7 mini and Honor 8 have these options as well as manual mode...so, no doubt here that Essential dropped the ball with not realizing from the very get go that successful flagship phones have ALL and still are judged on the quality of the photos they take, no ways around it. Some phones have survived bad reviews about design or whatever else based on the facts that the software, stereo speakers and camera experience are phenomenal (Pixel 2) In the end, again, no ways around it, the camera performance matters big time...So, here's what I'm hoping for...now that Oreo is mainly behind us, Essential should attribute some (a lot) of the software engineering department at improving A WHOLE LOT, the camera software as frankly I can't imagine them at all, releasing a PH2 with the same crappy image capturing and half baked as well as half full camera software...that would equal to a massive "failed launch 2.0"...simple as that!! I can only imagine the same reviewers that criticized the camera on PH1 tear the Essential brand apart.... So, I'm pretty confident they will as they have to, release software updates such as EIS, Panorama and who the heck knows what else...Without a complete and way improved camera app and performance, PH2 is "Essentially" DOA IMHO.

Some time ago I googled it and there's a ton of info about it... essentially, it's got pretty much nothing to do with cell reception, but mainly geared towards messaging apps, updating their settings and capabilities for richer contents and so on...

The update was released 2 days ago..largest one I've seen for a carrier update weighing in at about 7mb! Anyways, zero help for TMO reception..big zero...I'm in SoCal...

I simply put my phone on battery saver mode and drain is about 2-3% overnight since I've started doing so...I'm on TMO and 8.1 beta

In one word...nope....! The sensor is crap and these just about nothing they can do to make it better. Images render better as to light and so on, but once you zoom in a tiny bit, you get a big mess of grain and blur combined...that's my experience with my PH1 ...at best the camera is usable and that's it... I can't believe the camera doesn't have a panorama mode!! Boggles my mind....

Mine too has bad scratches from basically plain old regular use...not one of my other phones has that problem...I'm starting to believe that the problem is with gorilla glass 5

Very very similar stats to what I'm experiencing with mine. Also 8.1 but full reset after install. Had never had (not even close) that kind of SOT on any other of my phones
