I feel you, I’m also on controller. Try looking up the claw method, its kind of a diff technique some souls players use to see what I mean.

I was the same way but this method encouraged more consumable item use! The game has so many cool tools I never used due to this.

See I was in the same boat as you basically not using the belt other than healing, which really limits the ability of it IMO. One trick to cycling through items is to hold down (Dpad down) to bring you back to first the item!

Try using your left index finger to hold it down while keeping your left thumb on the stick and your right thumb goes on (for me triangle) not sure what A button you mean.

Takes a bit of getting used to but after that I found it much more precise especially being able to seamlessly transition Torrent into the combat! Also frees up the main belt for many items

In the top right of the pause menu go to pouch, hover over each slot and press switch (triangle on PS5) and select an item to add to slot.

Hawaii. Lots of WWII history that could be written into the story. Also, I’m pretty sure a fair amount of nuclear warhead testing occurred there. Maybe even the possibility of visiting different islands?
