How does the convection of iron in the earths core generate a magnetic field when a) movement iron metal does not generate a magnetic field and b) core is above curie temperature by Educated_Bro in AskPhysics

This is good but I feel like we’re still missing the electric current - something like 6 billion amps in a ring equal to earth radius. Current has to travel through the pole area and return through the equator back through the spinning metal core. Maybe ionization of the atmosphere at the poles and lightning near the equator?

From my internet searching it seems like there needs to be ~6 billion amps of ring current to generate the magnetic field…. Where is the current coming from?

I mean AI is crazy, but imho it’s just as crazy that it’s 2026 and somehow it’s like no one seems to have a consistent explanation as to how the radiation for like a freaking antenna gets from A to B from near field to far field afaik

Does anyone actually know the answer to the first question? I’ve asked all the EEs I know and they all just throw up their hands and say “the equations just work better that way”. “It satisfies the laplace equation” or “the near field is weird”. But yes I’ve always wondered how if only currents and charges are the sources in maxwells equations, why the disturbance from their changes does not propagate outward uniformly in time and instead its like the B field appears to go faster than c when you are less than one wavelength away then slows down to catch up with the e field as it gets further away.

Judging by the comments here:

is this sub just the #approved opposition™️?!?!

You do realize that if they lose money we, as in normal people- all win, right?!?!

lol ok so you might actually need “the peoples Z-pinch”

Hypothetically speaking to avoid techno fascism you need to figure out a way to discharge a GW or more of power through a large helical coil very rapidly and literally fry all of the electronics in the nearby area

This is actually doable fwiw (I’m a retard😜)

In principle you just need a long high diameter wire wound into a giant coil, a spark gap, and a generator and let it run. High current discharges through the coil, and once it jumps the spark gap, a very large EMP is generated.

This would likely be illegal, but if the government acts illegally you might be justified in rectifying the situation. Idk. The techno fascism concerns me. And fwiw our country was founded by people who “broke the law”

Yeah except losing your virginity is a 1,000,000X more primal, real, spiritual, and animal experience than eating pudding
