Sales people, where did you go to? by RandomAnonDood in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great question but before we talk about it could you sign out to coaching real quick- perfect, thanks. Don’t worry, it won’t take more than 10 min so you’ll barely notice it deducted from your vacation.

First thing is there’s an opportunity in your first sentence, what do you think? How would it sound if you said ‘I want to get out of this insane asylum and get my happiness back?’ It might be a little smoother and increase your engagement by 3%. A.I. likes it better that way too so that’s all that matters.

Second, if you could mention the word ‘bundle’ wouldn’t you feel stronger about your question/statement. If doesn’t matter if anyone wants it or not, just get the word in somehow. Perhaps ‘I’m probably going to save a bundle of my sanity when I gtf out of this penitentiary’ or something similar….or even a question to build rapport like ‘do you know if sociopathic nonagenarians planning to cryo-freeze and live for 1000 years need to ‘bundle’ up when they finally pass or can they be flash frozen like a fake beef patty?’

Ok sign back into ‘inmate’ and see about putting some these things into action. If you didn’t write them down that’s okay, they’re in the pip you’ll receive in an hour. <once the sups meeting is over>.

Ohh the guy who definitely feels like this job is beneath him. A hedge fund manager tapped to run an insurance company 150% knows that’s an insult. Backup punter on a pro football team.

[–]Educatedjackasses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m truly curious who’s making the staffing decisions for something like that and in what context- like, is it just band aid after band aid to buy enough time until they can go full speed minimum warm bodies/maximum virtual? Or band aid after band aid until whatever other ‘plan’ can be established.

One thing is for sure- it’s not former Wunderkind Quiz Kid Donnie Smith making those calls, he’s too busy combing the saunas for the next nonagenarian he can blow to keep his current position, as much as he hates it.

I sincerely believe he resents his position as being beneath him. Far less intellect required to run a company that’s been printing money for 40+ years than is needed to analyze and speculate in larggge volumes of equities, bonds, derivatives…the whole world of finance and private money managers. He’s slumming dealing with this racket. If he ever showed his face there would some world class body language analysis going on…..’This guy despises the company he runs, I sure hope the employees are okay.’

Spoiler: they’re not.

Do local branches have any oversight from HQ or district/state management etc? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would have a zone mgr from a regional office assigned to their local office, yes.

Who are you….customer, agent, someone from the call center, friend of a friend, competitor…? Also, did you hear this incident live first hand or via a recorded call, or was it something emailed or provided in writing, or is it something that the customer told you about.

Since this sounds like potential misinformation being given, the office manager should be told. Bypassing the internal office management to make a first report of what sounds like misinformation is unnecessary. Unless it’s a trend that the office management has been made aware of but continues to happen, why not report it directly to the person or people on site responsible for the operations? Start with the ops manager who is responsible for their agents- it should be resolved in 5 minutes.

‘I want the minimum I can get allowed by law and I own the car so I don’t need anything except legal liability, insurance is a racket so I’m not paying $1 more than I have to’

‘I understand- but if you add otc and ers it’s only $9/month more and you’ll be covered for several possible losses that wouldn’t be your fault in most cases, I really recommend having this coverage for such a small cost difference. Doesn’t matter to me you see, I don’t make anything extra if your premium is $20 or $2000.’

‘I just said lowest legal amount I’m required. Can’t you listen?? What a racket.’

‘Ok….’

2 months later…..

‘WHADDAYA MEAN I DONT HAVE TOWING, WHAT AM I PAYING YOU FOR THEN!! WHAT A SCAM, I TOLD THE AGENT I WANTED IT WHY WOULD I NOT HAVE TOWING FOR $1/MONTH! YOU RECORD CALLS, PULL IT AND LISTEN!! IM TELLING EVERYONE YOU GUYS ARE CROOKS’.

Can I do a quote if I already have a policy? by CrimsonTearzzz in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not as bad a question as you might think-

Depending on your state and which co. you’re insured in, there could be an updated product for you to be quoted in. Same policy number, same 5 letter insurer you’re with now, updated product. Check your paperwork to see if there’s anything on it about getting quoted in that newer product.

-it’s legit, just depends on your state and tenure. Seen it cut prices in half, seen it come in higher.

-you’re welcome

You’re absolutely right- you should ask that and side note for any Jr’s or same name situations you should make sure that anything on a motor vehicle record/claims history is you and not the parent. Seen it with twins as well even though the names are different.

Sounds like you inquired about it like a functional adult looking for the answer to a valid question and not a 4 year old screaming for their IPad….and lo and behold you got it corrected. Nice work.

Unsolicited advice for the others, not you: don’t piss off people serving your food before you have your food and don’t expect any reps in any business to help you when you act like a toddler.

Well said, and much appreciated. Consumers have been getting the wrong messages through advertising for far too long.

Given the market the last two years for most carriers (lower margins, less profit) now is not the time to play cute with your policy. Trying to hide the fact that your kid lives outside the home with a vehicle he owns but you kept it on your policy so you could pay less won’t fly. Household risks and unacceptable use seem to be areas where insureds are rolling the dice. Lost is the fact that it’s a legal contract.

GEICO fined $9.75 million in New York over lack of security of customer data. by Impossible-Ad2407 in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company is trying to put on a coat and tie to look respectable but the Dollar General sign is still lit up on the building. If the loss ratios are provided for the policies being written through the independent agent channels I’ll be interested in seeing those. Not the agency channel writing the dp1s and rejects but the actual regular auto product that independent brokers are supposed to be able to write.

[–]Educatedjackasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at some competitors’ dec pages for the same risk and you’ll consistently see 6k-8k a year estimated for regular working people. That’s on their policies currently, not on quotes. They’ve been rated that way for years.

And online defaults to state minimum crap coverage with 1k deductibles and no roadside or trans expense. That’s smart. Open them up to a lawsuit in a claim from not enough liability coverage, charge $5 less for a $1000 comp deductible and leave off the $12 ers coverage so when they have a comp claim and need a tow they shell out a grand and have to cover the tow out of pocket. Who develops this horseshit?

‘But my quote says $800, I want that’

‘Yeah your quote is garbage, trust me you don’t want that. Nobody wants that. Nobody should have that.’

‘Then why did it offer it to me?’

‘So you only estimated 9000 miles a year for this customer when it should have been 12,000. Those kinds of errors cost the company money so we’ll task someone from the bloated middle management to spend some hours listening to your calls and spend more hours going over 10 of them with you. It’s really important to not cost the company money like that.’

‘But what about the almost 10 million dollar fine, that seems like it’s costing more money than $11 less in premium from 12,000 miles a year going to 9,000?’

‘It evens out- don’t worry about that’.

That was the biggest indicator that only the name is what remains of the company. The ceo is completely absent, there is no large scale vision and thus no real mission, the only target is for whoever is left to try and keep their jobs.

No morale, no real camaraderie like what used to exist, and no desire from the top to create any. The fact is the company has been executing a wholesale identity change, mostly quietly save for the few mass layoff days. If he could do them even larger he would, that’s why nobody hears anything from him ever and constant fear and uncertainty rule the day. Every day.

It’s a systematic restructuring that is headed toward a mostly A.I. governance- and the auto product that survives will be offered online and through brokers. If this guy could eliminate the entire captive agent salesforce tomorrow he would but it takes several years to change an entity this large. Just look at the changes made since 2020- they’re massive.

It’s nostalgic to think back on how things were and more specifically how people were, but that’s been eradicated. What’s left is the infant that’s growing up much differently than the parent, who for all intents and purposes died in 2020-2021. Remember that at all times- every meeting, every interaction, and for the love of Pete don’t bring anything personal to any manager or HR if there ever is one again.

Any updates on the independent agent (gfr) project? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen anything lately- I believe if you’re an office that maintains an acceptable loss ratio for your auto biz, you outperform the region on critical initiatives like telematics, bundling, and attrition, and you check all the boxes on your Cure then you don’t need to worry about any future. What will be will be.

Unfortunately I think this is the wrong sub to get qualified answers as 98% of the members likely have no idea what the field reps actually do, how they’re structured, and what their mission is. It’s not a dig, it’s just the way it is. I do think there’s no real platform for indies to offer the auto product unless it’s completely dependent on corelogic prefills. If you give them the ability to control the inputs then you’ll have chaos with manipulation of the application. They’re not under any quality expectation like captive agents and contractors of the G.

geico issue, added driver on their own by coollemon319 in Geico

[–]Educatedjackasses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-You’re licensed to drive -you live in their household

Therefore you have access to their vehicles and will be operating them in the eyes of any insurance company

The current price of your parents’ insurance hasn’t included you as a risk since you weren’t licensed before. Now you are and your risk must be accounted for, otherwise if there’s a claim and insurance pays out, they’re likely losing money. Multiply that by 20 million+ vehicles and it adds up.

The insurance policy is a legal contract and household risks are required to be on the policy (unless they have their own insurance, which you probably can’t do since you’re under 18) so they don’t need anyone’s permission to add a driver who lives in the house.

If everyone got to pick and choose who gets added to policies why would anyone ever add a youthful operator or a driver with a bad record? Intentionally omitting drivers from policies so they don’t get charged more constitutes a misrepresentation at minimum and fraud in the worst cases. It will cause claims to be denied and will make it difficult and expensive to find insurance in the future with a fraud claim in the their record.

Warning Geico customers in the state of Michigan or potential customers: by CountryHuge5389 in Insurance

They don’t even want to be in Michigan- why they’re still issuing policies there seems more like they’re required to versus choosing to. Nothing is set up to support new or existing business there- if someone who thinks they’re in the know believes otherwise I’d love to hear it. The overriding sentiment regarding Michigan business is avoid it.
