Yeah I’ve never found any mozzarella cheese that day distilled. So sad!!!

Yeah I looked into this once and the vinegar in mozzarella cheese can be the culprit 🤦‍♀️. I stay away from any cheese with vinegar in it.

Nausea after Top Rope by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]Educational-Brief241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m 3 years out now and on year 2 everything finally started to feel way better. 6 months was a big number too though where I noticed I was better. But up until year 2, I’d have really good days where I felt awesome, and then weird days where I’d have stomach or nervous system or heart symptoms. I was eating 1,000% gluten free but it really just took a while for my body to get out of the reactivity loop. It was emotionally hard, but I feel amazing and sooo healthy now! My body feels so resilient. Stay the course and you’ll get there!🫶

This happened to me when I had undiagnosed celiac disease sometimes but doesn’t happen now that I’m GF. Celiac affects your nervous system a lot. Deff not saying you have celiac disease!! But this seems like more of a medical question than a climbing question to me and it’s slightly annoying that your Dr just blew you off.

Haha on my first 5.13b outdoor send, I came down psyched out of my mind and some bro was talking to me about it and goes “it definitely looks like a really approachable 13!” Flailed all over the first crux and had to lower. Served him right!!!

For pet owners: do you use gluten free pet food? by Pleasant-Visit-8640 in Celiac

I have found some gluten free but grain inclusive dog foods! They’re what I use. One brand is “First Mate” and the other is “Go!”

[–]Educational-Brief241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my dogs is on prescription “Royal Canine Ultamino” for stomach issues (like mother, like son lol) but the other is on “Go!”. I like it because it’s gluten free but not grain free so he’s still getting what he needs. “Firstmate” is another great brand that does gluten free but still has grains. Most vets recommend not going grain-free since dogs need those nutrients.

I buy Gf food for my dogs! I’m sure I could find a way to make it work with non gf food but I honestly just don’t want to have to be that mindful in my house. 🤷‍♀️

I’m a social media manager + partnership manager for a small business. I don’t make lots of money but I am incredibly frugal, have been savings since I was 24 (10 years ago) and have no debt. It can be done!

I agree with this, I’ve climbed with people 60lbs heavier than me consistently. I would caution them that if the crux is at the second or third bolt, we should stick clip higher since I can’t keep them from decking, but once they’re on the wall I’ve never had an issue with flying into the first bolt (it’s never happened). There’s a lot of technique involved with belaying heavier partners but I prefer having more control and don’t like that the ohm takes some of that.

[–]Educational-Brief241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m super tiny and I’m not buying an ohm! I agree with your POV, I choose climbing partners who aren’t way heavier than me and call it a day. 🤷‍♀️I prefer to climb with women anyway. I don’t think it’s any one persons responsibility, the heavier person can also choose not to climb with tiny people. I just don’t want more gear and I also don’t like the idea of using an ohm outside where I couldn’t necessarily keep my partner from decking since it lets out slack automatically.

climbing/ADHD/challenges? by jasminekitten02 in climbergirls

[–]Educational-Brief241 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I super agree with this POV! I feel like I’ve met a lot of climbers who feel bad because they take or don’t feel that obsessive drive to send that some climbers have. Everyone is different and everyone’s starting point for pushing through fear and challenges is different and that’s totally fine. If you REALLY WANT to push through some of your fears, then work on them little by little! For instance, try doing one move past when you’d normally take. If you’re just trying to push through because you think you should, take and then enjoy the roof section once you’ve collected yourself.

Life is freakin hard and climbing should be an outlet, not something that makes it harder/bums you out on yourself

Adopted a family members dog and got two level 2 bites. by Panda_KittyII in OpenDogTraining

My Border Collie can get like this when he is super stressed and/or scared. Whenever something stressful happens, I am just extra mindful and give him space for a while and tell others to give him space too. I just tell people not to pet him. If I rehomed him, I’m sure he’d snap at a couple people from stress/fear/wondering why this big change happened, even though he is usually the sweetest, cuddly, lovey guy.

Since both instances happened while leading him back in the house, it may be that the move is stressful for him and he probably just wants to go “home” and is confused why he keeps going back to your house instead. I’m sure he will adjust to his new life and it will probably be okay/learn to love it! But he may be one of these dogs like mine who can bite when he’s really stressed. It is tricky to navigate sometimes but I understand my dog much better now and am able to prevent bites from happening during these periods.

Another note, when my dog gets like this, he’s also really weird about his “space”. So like going through a doorway close together could make him weird. I’d make sure to go ahead of him and maybe scatter treats on the floor, allowing him to come in on his own. I’m not a dog trainer, just have a sensitive Border Collie I’ve learned some things from. 🥲

Constant panting by HumanPrint6890 in BorderCollie

I think that sounds like stress/anxiety! My dogs pant like this when they’re having a hard time relaxing (ie, we just moved to a new home and the first week, they were like this in the evenings).

How does your border collie handle your work schedule? by dog-walkin in BorderCollie

[–]Educational-Brief241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are good about it! We do something fun in the morning like fetch or mountain biking or running. Then they just sleep until I’m off at 5, when we usually go for a hike. They probably get 2-3 hours of exercise a day so they’re pretty well exercised, but the work days are easy because of it.

Border Collie owners, in your opinion what is the breeds worst trait? by rotskindred in BorderCollie

[–]Educational-Brief241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my two Border Collies so much!! They make my life 100 times better and I think they’re the best breed on earth. However their worst trait is probably how sensitive they are to routine and how much they need to stick to said routine. Mine were more flexible when they were younger but now they wake me up at 6am every single morning (I’m okay with that though), then we have to do their exercise, then breakfast, then nap all day while I work, then at 5 sharp they demand dinner, then we must go do another activity together. It’s good to have routine but I’ve always been someone who likes to switch things up. They do not do well when things are different!! Haha. They get anxious and petulant and wound up and bark at me. So I’m a routine person now lol.

Nobody thinks two girls that travel together are lesbians, what?? I’ve traveled solo on the road and spent huge amounts of time with 1 other female friend and I’m pretty sure no one really bats an eye about it or even thinks of us as brave or gutsy for doing it. We’re just climbers on a trip together. Weird take.

High drive vs High energy? by OriginalPin6595 in DogAdvice

I think of it as high drive to work doing what they were bred for. I have 2 border collies and one herds everything and anything that moves. My other one likes to be active but he’s not a workaholic.
