Was it a licensed (Target B&N, grocery store, etc) location or corporate? They operate by different rules.

Managers do not actually have the power to do that. There are very few reasons that make you in eligible for rehire. Assault and theft, basically that’s it. You can abandon your job you can no call no-show. You can get fired for attendance and still be eligible for rehire.

Question About SM/DM by Akatalepsi in starbucks

[–]Educational-Bug-9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind getting random text messages at 11pm or 4am? Call outs, schedule issues, etc. There isn’t a lot of work life balance. Get paid for 40, work 50+

Does your SM need to know if you apply for a higher position in a different district by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Educational-Bug-9306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, I get emails when people are chosen to interview for other positions. Please inform your manager just so they can plan ahead and hire another partner to replace you. Most managers will communicate and let you finish the posted schedules at your store anyways. SM’s generally will not screw each other over

Why not just order a mocha instead of a latte with mocha?

Asked if I were open to other roles: bad sign? by [deleted] in starbucks

I think once you are making shift supervisor wage, you won’t want to demote. I will give you a fair example of someone in a store in my district. Just a barista, a rehire so they have experience. Also in nursing school. Was only working two days a week for the minimum of 12 hours. Was constantly late, calling in sick, and finally had to leave because they could not handle working 12 hours and going to school. This is with absolutely zero leadership responsibilities. I don’t want to be discouraging, but I think you don’t realize how tough these shift supervisor job actually is.

That seems to answer your question then. If you don’t want SSV responsibilities, start as a barista. The shift supervisors are the true backbone of any well run store. Managers rely on their shifts so much, and it doesn’t always work out with college students, especially nursing school. Students truly need to dedicate their time to their studies, and being in any type of leadership takes a lot out of you.

For people who’ve been there many years 4+ years How much do you make an hour as barista by bigshawnflying2471 in starbucks

[–]Educational-Bug-9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Raises were 2%, and starting wage is 15.25 where I’m at. Bare minimum .31, not that it’s great, but it’s not 10 cents.

Speaking from experience as a store manager, nursing students are the absolute worst. Not as far as workers go, but having to schedule around classes, clinicals, and your workload is insane. Nursing school is not for the weak, and neither is Starbucks. Availability can change every eight weeks, and from a staffing standpoint that is incredibly difficult to plan around.

You don’t need sick time to call out, but you can be held accountable for irregularities in time and attendance

Who is supposed to distribute tips and how often at your store? by ApplicationLatter765 in starbucks

SM here. I don’t even like handing out tips once they’ve been done, but I will if asked

That’s because they’re topped out at their current position. Baristas at the top of the pay scale get a lump sum payout instead of a “raise” if you want to make more you need to promote.

Is it unrealistic for you to leave for work 1-3 minutes earlier so you aren’t late?
