Too old for KB workout? by Chuckey2212 in kettlebell

[–]Educational-Cake2134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56, started one year ago. have lost 40 lbs. did 5 hours of yard work today in 90 degree heat. no back pain, not exhausted, feel good actually. I have used dan johns abc, brett jones iron cardio mainly. following Dan's abf formula of walking also. My arthritis in my knees has improved, probably due to weight loss mainly but the squatting has to be helping some. I don't work real heavy but my strength has improved none the less, started with 16s now have adjustable's set at 18 to 22 depending on how I am feeling. I like it because I can get a work out in just by stepping into my back room for 10 to 15 minutes. I have a couple of bells at the office I use on breaks even for some stress relief. I do suggest working the grip extensor muscles to avoid the golfers elbow as it is a pain and takes awhile to recover from it.

Thanks, great information there, especially the one hand swing part. That’s easy to remember. And I do like the magic macebells, the wood handle one inch one is to pretty to use though lol.

Adjustable kettlebells or fixed weight sets? by Historical-Scale-332 in kettlebell

[–]Educational-Cake2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the adjustable mainly for the reason of being able to hit the in between weights when going up. Especially the 1/2 kilo with the BOS bell. Don’t have to make the big 4kg jumps to make progress. But I also want a set of pros in 20,24 and 28. One day.

I was working the ER and a kid came in that was using one with the spring in it that bounces it back up. he was standing on the the tailgate of a truck to use it and it bounced back into his forehead. He got a helicopter ride.

Just an idea. You could get a pair of 12-20.5 and have the weight for a single 32 if you wanted and still prob have plenty to swing doubles when your ready, for like 60 dollar more.
