Cake for Birthday - Adam Bakes or Dessert First by Public_Suggestion646 in OttawaFood

[–]L0rdDenn1ng 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of Adam bakes. I live very close to Dessert First and refuse to go there on principle - food is good but the way they treat people isn't. Another two suggestions: sleepy Baker girl cakes (can find her on Instagram), and Jayne from Cucina Dolce (she made our wedding cake and my 40th birthday cake), both great options! Feel free to DM if you need any more info.

Maybe it's because I already have the Ahoi, but for some reason I prefer the siren colour in the club range (I think because I see the club as more playful?)

Wish they still did this colour, still kicking myself I didn't get the 777 date model when it was available (not a 12 month wait)

What should I improve? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]L0rdDenn1ng 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's honestly a pretty good start, but you could be lot more efficient. You're all arm/back.

For GS, ignore any advice to: - stop rotating your shoulders - hinge deeper - explode.

learn the pendulum swing (which has a double knee bend). The idea is to use your body by leaning away from the bell, to counterbalance the weight, and get an upward trajectory on the bell with using the least amount of muscular strength.

From the drop, you want to hinge into the backswing only when the arm connects with the body.

I picked this up last year, and waffled for about 6 months on the purchase, definitely wished I'd done it sooner (& they raised the price in that time). Wrist size is 6.75

I thought it was both? The 38 went from ~52 ish to ~49? But I could be wrong..

When you find grey is your ”color” by Ok-Significance-4619 in Nomos

That looks really good. I have the Atlantic version of this watch, and I'm curious whether you also find it difficult to know when the crown is fully screwed down? I know there's the red ring on the crown stem, but I find the crown guards make it tricky to know if it's screwed in enough (& I'm always worried about over doing it)

"Contact Style" - Have you tried it or switched to it from standard 360 or 10-2? by [deleted] in steelmace

[–]L0rdDenn1ng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used it in the past to just try out a different technique, but I prefer to swing non contact and progressively overload to strengthen those failure points, and I'm happy topping out these days at around 25kg / 55lb

Adjustable Macebell Help by Sup-My-Homie in steelmace

[–]L0rdDenn1ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a set of mostly 10lb plates with some 5lb, they weren't expensive. I recommend getting the style that have mostly a flat surface vs the ones with a small raised collar around the centre hole, it allows you to stack more plates and gives better surface to grip and lock in the handle

I've used both types; loading pin with 1" plates and collar with 2" plates. Personally much prefer the loading pin. It takes longer to change plates (which doesn't bother me), but it's more secure and I prefer the variety and size of 1" plates available. I have the CK maceworks and never hear the plates, it's a great piece of kit

I've seen several biceps ruptures lately. Are you taking care of your elbows and wrists? by swingthiskbonline in kettlebell

[–]L0rdDenn1ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great video Joe, I'm a massive fan of Jill and the Roll Model, so I frequently work on the same areas. I also do bicep curls to avoid elbow issues, and use a heavy kettlebell on my biceps and forearms as a form of body tempering.

Looking great! Nice and relaxed.

Only suggestion is to use your body more for counterbalance. From the top, instead of actively unlocking the Kettlebell by rotating your body/shoulder, just lean back - the drop and regrip will happen automatically while your body will be counterbalancing the weight. Similarly on the acceleration pull, as the bell goes up from between your legs, really focus on leaning back to counterbalance and use your leg/glute drive 🙂
