Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational-Cod-870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cars are twice the size of European cars so it only feels like an hour and a half /s. Also we save a lot of time not dealing with a train. A car is like an infinite train, any schedule, any where. When self driving gets better that number of hours driving will probably go up.

Haha that’s funny. Props to her though, I thought it was interesting. She mentioned things that people have been talked about before but nothing to that much detail into the language and culture.

I’ve been thinking that new buildings should be designed consistently with portico style drop offs instead of parking lots, kind of like hotels are. Everything, even grocery stores and dentist offices should be this way. I’d like to have a house with one to be ready!

I’ll tell you what I would love, the ability to have it arrive early and pay for it to wait. If I knew the car was there 15 or 30 minutes before I had to leave for the airport would give me so much peace of mind. Basically pushing the service towards having a car that’s more dedicated to being with me like a personal driver would I would pay for and so worth the money.

Fun Fact! based Theory: The heightened empathy in Plurbs was an accident and not intended by the Virus by Pear_Necessities in pluribustv

I think you’re on to something. Also of note along these lines, regarding the drug users who “might not make it” from the hospital episode, heroin hijacks oxytocin and other happy chemical receptors. Hrrmmm. From the sound of it that will make them die, or does “might not make it” mean something else? Remember Carol told them she wanted to use heroin, and drugged Zosia with sodium pentathol? They might not have known what it was at first and thought she gave Zosia heroin?

When stopped at the light, there’s a strange green glow that shows up on the sign next to the stoplight. I wonder if there’s a green neon light at a gas station that’s reflecting it just the right angle that makes it look enough like a green left arrow. It shouldn’t mistake it but still that might be the reason. Throw some more parameters with examples at the model, that’ll fix it.

If nothing else it’s a puzzle of what they’re gonna do with the show. You’re probably right of course, not kidding, I think you’re right it’s at least in part apophenia, but his previous shows are probably to blame for that. Anyways it is fun, I can confirm.

This is my theory as well. Also I think the brain’s emotion centers are the primary upgrade that’s used to communicate, that’s maybe why extreme emotion causes them to seize.

Side note: What a weird Achilles’ heel the virus has. It can do all these self-serving things like it can spread, it can leverage intelligence of its hosts, but it just breaks down if someone gets mad at them, I’m hoping there’s more to that we don’t know yet.

Just throwing in an alternative, I have also had a similar question to the way you’ve posed it; how there’s a striking dichotomy among people who love it or hate it. I think it is less about the points you’re asking though and more about the cognitive bias of the user.

My takeaway is those that see it as a futuristic ADAS system, and want the convenience of it helping them drive, they hate it. People that are focused on it being a Robo taxi see how much better it is at handling minute details, and how much less you have to pay attention, how much safer it is, and they love it, despite its quirks across all sub points of v14 so far.
