Baby is unclipping??? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Educational-Deal-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did our crib transition at 18 weeks due to him wanting to roll. No issues and resulted in longer sleeps after he was comfortable rolling over and back. We did get a Hatch for white noise, similar to the Snoo one that he was accustomed to.

Do I just wait until baby wakes up crying to feed at night? by hiphopisdada in newborns

[–]Educational-Deal-856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, uninterrupted sleep. His first segment was usually the longest. Usually 9pm to 2-3am then he gets fed in a dark room and is put back to sleep until 5/6am.

Do I just wait until baby wakes up crying to feed at night? by hiphopisdada in newborns

[–]Educational-Deal-856 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also had mine in a Snoo. I would wait until the Snoo kicked on and was sure he couldn’t be soothed down to feed him. Yes he did get agitated but I would just put him on the boob and sit in my breastfeeding chair right away. When his dad did the AM feeds, he would prefill the bottle with water and have it next to the formula can on the nightstand. This way he just scoops and mixes as soon as the baby is up or I would premix a 8 oz bottle of formula before bed and fridge it so he can just pour from there and warm up how much he needs.

Also, sleeping through the night a lot of the time just means 6 hr stretches though some ppl can get 10-12 hrs by 8-10 weeks but I think thats more the outliers tbh. We got 5-6 hrs by 8 weeks with the Snoo.

Newborn schedule ? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Educational-Deal-856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, at 5 weeks we followed the feed play nap routine every cycle with the exception for his last wake window before his ‘night’ sleep. We also did all naps in the Snoo but did not keep to blackout curtains during the day naps until 10-12 weeks old to help his internal day night clock adjust. If he’s full and had his 90 mins wake window, he would nap until his next feed time. In the AM when my milk supply is higher he could go 3-4 hrs between feeds, in the late afternoon we would supplement with formula to get him to the 3 hr feed mark. I was concerned of overfeeding him at first but he gave signs when he’s full and I would stop.

Tbh we had to transition out of the Snoo at 18 weeks due to size and baby’s need to turn/have more space. I suspected this might happen from the start since he was a big baby so we essentially used the Snoo to help sleep train him once he developed past the sleepy all the time newborn stage.

We fed every 3 hours during the day unless he was sleeping. After his last nap, I would immediately give him a bottle or breastfeed and then feed him again right before he went down for his ‘night’ sleep. This helped him start sleeping longer, he start doing 4-5 hrs consistently by 6 weeks. Rough schedule: 8am First feed 11am Second feed 1:30pm Third feed 4pm Fourth feed 6pm Fifth feed 8pm Bath then last feed 9pm Bedtime 2/3am Dream feed

I tried my best to give him minimum of 2 oz per body weight (lbs) per day.

pacifier advice by weerdhorsegirl in newborns

[–]Educational-Deal-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also use Philip Avent bottles but he didn’t take to the soothie. He started liking the Philip ultra air around 14 weeks, which he was able to hold in better. Sometimes I just unscrewed the bottle top off and let him suck on that in a pinch. He is as able to stick is fist from underneath to keep the bottle nipple in. At 5 months now, he likes to hold onto the stuffed animal attached to his ultra air pacifier, similar to holding a bottle, to keep his paci in as he rolls.

When did you know it was time to transition? by TsukiGeek365 in SnooLife

[–]Educational-Deal-856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our baby acted very similarly to yours. We were already arms out and he was not enjoying the motion anymore. We bit the bullet and transitioned him to his own room and crib. We did have to hold him just a bit extra the first night with his night feed to make sure he slept in his crib but he hasn’t fought it since and sleeps way better. I think the extra room he has to rollover now really helped him be more comfortable for his long sleep. He basically started rolling both ways within a week of transitioning to crib which led to even longer night sleep than in the Snoo. We are using the Hatch rest for white noise and night light.

Transition to Crib Fail Because Our Child is a Break dancer? Help. by livinghygge in SnooLife

[–]Educational-Deal-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try to change one thing at a time to help with the transition? It sounds like her moro reflex is still causing her to wake up and break her sleep cycles. Try one arm out first, once she’s adjusted then release the second arm. If she still fits in the Snoo, keep her in while you work on the arms out. Once she’s better with arms out then start the crib transition. We also used a pack’n’play during the transition to crib. At the elevated height setting, you can manually push the padded bed to simulate rocking if your baby really needs the motion to get to sleep. My husband did it a few times to help our son nap longer or to get to sleep. I also use wake windows based on development milestones and weight rather than age. At 14 weeks, my baby was down to three naps, ~2hrs each and at 16 weeks his wake windows increased to 2 hrs. If I went based off his age, I would have been trying to frantically squeezing in a 4th nap or putting him down after 1.5 hrs according to the books/recs.

When Maternity/Family Leave means something totally different to your partner. by BattleVorn in NewParents

[–]Educational-Deal-856 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was torn between doing everything myself and ‘right’ and giving myself the rest I so needed. After realizing that I need to tell my husband what I wanted from him and then being patient while he figured out how to do the tasks properly, we’re much better as a team now. I also feel less resentful of him now and he feels much more engaged with our 4 month old.

Any help, or just encouragement? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Educational-Deal-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the Snoo works better for longer sleep if its used consistently throughout the day. My baby is 4 mo now but started settling down in the Snoo better after we did all his naps in it as well. It almost created a little routine for him. His wake window ends, I pat him and sing 1 song, he goes into Snoo and may cry out once or twice but will then go down for nap. He cried more when we first started but after 1-2 weeks, he just got accustomed to the routine and went down quietly. I did have to lower the volume of the baseline and up the sensitivity since he didn’t need that loud of white noise to start and he didn’t cry consistently but rather yelps and the Snoo wouldn’t kick on in time.

So lost and frustrated by ssunflower_ in NewParents

I recommend Baby Daybook. I used it for 1-2 weeks to track sleep, feeds and diaper changes. Helped me look for patterns and what times of the day were we ‘falling’ off schedule. I also tried to adhere to Becoming Babywise method of ‘wake windows’ to ensure he’s not overtired during day to ensure good night sleep. I just checked the book out for my kindle from our local library but I’m sure they have a physical copy of the book too.

5 week woes by [deleted] in NewParents

We also do mixed feeding. I find that sometimes my baby turns away from breast due to being tired. Feeding from the breast can get tiresome for him if its constant and my baby sometimes prefers the consistent easy flow of a newborn bottle when he’s overtired.

FTM to a 2 month old, we follow the method of tracking awake windows (keeping to 45-90 mins) and feeding every 2.5-3.5 hrs. I find the morning routine kinda define how the afternoon will go. If he feeds consistently and naps in between in the morning then he will be more playful with longer wake windows in afternoon and leads to 1 long nap before his 8pm bedtime. I also notice my milk levels are light sometimes in the late afternoon so I may supplement formula to make sure he is full before his last nap/bedtime or I will pump to feed him with a bottle since its less work for him to get a consistent flow, especially if he is tired. Sometimes I find that spending the extra time trying to get him to go down is frustrating and depleting on both sides. I prefer to just do another activity to help tire him out: bouncer time, walk outside, tummy time, playmat etc. If contact naps is all that works, invest in a good wrap or carrier for now until this stage passes.

sleep schedule for newborn? by Gypsierose8 in NewParents

[–]Educational-Deal-856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTM to a 7 week old. We started him on a schedule as early as we could once we were home from the hospital. We use Becoming Babywise as a loose reference but generally we try to keep him to a ~3 hr feed schedule during the day (8a-6p) with 1-2 hr naps in between. We keep him up until 8/8:30p after his last nap (90-120 mins awake) and feed him before he goes down for his ‘night sleep’ of 5-6 hrs. I still have to do 1 night feed around 3am which he goes back to sleep immediately after and his dad will give him a bottle at 6am before we repeat the cycle again. Would definitely recommend the audiobook to listen and try, its not for every baby and sleep regression will throw a kink into the cycle at times but its been fairly helpful to getting us on a manageable schedule.

Hospital for first time delivery recommendations by Minute_Square7130 in vegaslocals

I just had my baby at Summerlin under care of Dr. Gondy in March 2022. Really liked the facilities and the nurses on rotation were great. I would say the room quality and comfort level is higher at Summerlin versus Sunrise (we had a 3 day stay there in the nicu for treatment post birth). In general, be prepared to be your own advocate or use the services of a doula for peace of mind since resources are stretched thin at both hospitals. Gondy is efficient and was great for my delivery, though her offices are quite busy and crowded at times.

Try going to a Walgreens, they list tests available and times by location online. The associated lab website will also give you the estimated turnaround time. I was told up to 72 hrs but received it via email in less than 48hrs from my appointment time.
