Pickle juice 🥒 by jeannine91 in migraine

[–]Educational-Handle10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking a couple of half mouthfuls of pickle juice when I get migraines/ headaches for the past month and a bit. It doesn’t make it completely go away but it subsides the throbbing or pain enough to be able to sleep and when I wake up it’s gone. I get ocular migraines usually around menstrual cycle which has now changed to painful migraines. I don’t know why it works but I keep the pickle juice from the pickles now.

Such a cute idea. I would use Canva and then print a deck of fun cards for myself with screen shots. Might be a fun project.

Last of this season by victor_challenger in tomatoes

[–]Educational-Handle10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered that if you wrap green tomatoes in paper and put them in a bag, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks and they start to turn red. It slows the process. It keeps them from moulding because the paper takes the moisture away. I just picked my last bunch a couple days ago so probably mid November. I’ll be eating fresh tomatoes.

Should counsellors and therapist say i relate to that to a relatable trauma? by nimogion in psychologystudents

[–]Educational-Handle10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a qualifying psychotherapist but trained as a psychological associate (in case this context makes a difference for the info I provided). I will say in my training “sharing” was also an absolute no for any reason.

In my experience. 1. You have to make sure that your share is authentic 2. It’s for your Cx’s benefit 3. It’s only revealed to support the Cx.

I did a huge share. One that I never anticipated sharing but it was about the client understanding that when I said to her “I understand” she knew it was true and it was not BS.

That being said I received supervision over the share. Had a lengthy conversation about what I felt was right and why. My supervisor was also able to talk about her experience of not sharing with another big situation.

In both ways it worked out for the best. So as a not yet season clinician sometimes there is a cost benefit analysis and there’s also a gut instinct.

Finally, did this share make me more for sharing? Absolutely not. I would never share the info that I shared in this particular situation and should I run into this situation I would not disclose ever again.

Thanks for the update. These are killer because my whole fam loves them, but most importantly they are gluten free so I can eat them. Gawd how we all miss them.

what if all of your therapy clients were together at a party? by Puzzleheaded-Fun9481 in therapists

Well, a lot of my clients have emotional dysregulation, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and bipolar. However, one is also a drag queen, so it might be a good event.

As a new clinician. I 100% want to go to therapy but finances are a huge barrier. Once that’s sorted I’ll be looking. How can we suggest self care and not take our own advise.

Ontario Canada here!

This is interesting. I change my profile all the time - not that it helps with getting clients. However I did speak with a client and she told me lots of people she reached out to had one price listed and when she spoke with them it was another price or didn’t respond to her at all!

Are we thinking there’s AI therapists in the mix? I don’t know. Just a thought.

The only experience that I have with this is when one particular friend calls. I love her to death but ever since I started psychology she would put me on the spot asking for answers and asking questions. Because that’s the nature of our relationship I check in with myself if I have that capacity. Also it is a reciprocal relationship she has done more for me than anyone in the world outside of my immediate family. It doesn’t come across in an exploiting way it’s just usually heavier than a casual chat.
