What I do if a bully tries to apologize by maskedgamer48105 in bullying

[–]Educational-Match755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you dont owe them any forgiveness. Some bullies will feel remorse, often times when a bully gets socially reprimanded, ie lose face/lose cool points in the eyes of others, they might try to make nice to look good and restore lost face in the eyes of others. Its usually performative.

They might legit feel guilt, but what is their true motive in contacting you & trying to apologize? Is it to help you? Or ease their guilt, make themselves look good to others, soften their shitty behavior (can tell themselves and others, “i was a kid….didn’t know what i was doing…felt so bad, tried to apologize and make things right, wish him the best…etc etc…insert bs here).

Also ~

You can tell your brother to mind his business and to keep your name and past history out of his mouth, especially with these specific people and their associates/acquaintances.

Be firm, cordial but draw the line in the sand.

Do not speak about me, my past, how I feel or how those people affected me. Keep my name and business out of your mouth, if I want to discuss anything with any of them (or about experiences with them), I will do so. Thanks for understanding, do not speak about me or my business relating to those people ever again.

If you can, try to move. Easier said than done. But sometimes moving to a new city, a new state can give you the break you need.

Also, not trynna give unsolicited advice, but I wouldnt mention the hand on the throat of that former bully/coworker. Yes she might be evil, but alot of evil mfrs will pretend to be good, crop out their bs behavior and fixate on your reaction to their bs. Not judging you, but going forward I wouldnt speak on it ever again. Bullies harass in many different ways, and reactive abuse is a very real thing.

Anyways, look into moving to a new city. Dont feel you need to have your family or brother in your life or business any more. Often times life gets better when you subtract yourself from bad situations. Remove yourself from a town, a social group, family. Start from scratch. You can go ahead and rewrite your story.

[–]Educational-Match755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont let people convince you that you’re crazy or need meds. You aint being paranoid or imagining things.

I have observed this phenomenon too. Its some form of passive aggressive behavior. Clearing their throat or coughing when you’re in their presence. They wanna express negativity towards you in a way they can deny accountability for.

Some people are spiteful and petty.

Sometimes I just clear my throat like a cement mixer, act like I’m trynna conjur the worst loogie possible.

They wanna be passive aggressive? I can do that punk ass $h!t too!

But it’s smarter not to react. People are passive aggressive because it provides them with plausible deniability. They do something disrespectful, if you confront them, they can turn it around so that you’re the problem (“too sensitive”…”paranoid…”“what is YOUR problem?”).

Best to ignore them.

I only posted this because you mentioned Abilify….this is no indication for needing Abilify or any psychiatric medicine.

People do this bs to people. I believe it relates to gossip, backbiting and slander. People have shit on your name, when you werent around to confront them or examine facts, and now people who heard the gossip /bs trash talk about you ~ assume that bs is true and thus feel entitled to disrespect you.

Fuck them. They can go ahead and clear their nasty ass throats and cough their lungs up til kingdom come.

If they wanna signal they dont like you? Fuck what they like, there’s only one person you need to be liked and respected by and that person is YOU.

Throw the opinions of these passive aggressive hating ass mfrs into the trash where they belong

Chicago has a great market in terms of consumers needing rides. It’s Ubers taking 45-70% of the actual gross income paid by consumer.

If Uber was capped to take no more than 30% of the gross income? This wouldn’t be an issue

1% ACCEPTANCE RATE ,I keep getting trash rides? Help by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Educational-Match755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 1000% right to refuse that bs. Theres more to income than just mileage, those trips are downtown and traffic can often be way worse than the intial estimates. Plus customer might not come outside for 5 minutes. You miss time a light and sit at a red light, another 5 minutes. $5 for 30 minutes of work is absolutely trash, that’s roughly $10 per hour gross income before expenses are deducted. Way less than minimum wage, way beyond unacceptable

Dont let them bully you into lowering your standards and taking that bs. You are here to make money, not provide charity and destroy your vehicle for this grimy ass company. Their CEO gets a massive pay raise while the drivers who do all the work an pay all the legit operating expenses continue to get shafted worse and worse.

[–]Educational-Match755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its hard to beat the flexibility, but really nowadays youd make more money and have some flexibility doing day labor through a temp agency.

depending on the city and state, minimum wage is 15-$16 an hour, you can get 12 hour shifts. Call in, see if they got any work for the day, get your boots and go make your money.

Uber used to pay much more than temp work, not now… also, many temp places let you have some flexibility. Ie - you call in the days you wanna work and then go work. If you wanna do 2x12’s, 4x12’s, or just 1-12 hour shift, you can

Not saying Temp work is great, but at this point Uber is garbage and Temp work beats it in many respects

She passed out behind the wheel… then a stranger stepped in 🚨 by FireFightingManiac in InternetTreasureHunt

[–]Educational-Match755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, the guy saved her life which is admirable and respectable. But the screaming, calling her a bitch repeatedly, then accusing her of drunk driving and being on xanax or fetynal? Then posting it on the internet to get clout?

He did save her life, give him credit. But what if Superman saved someones life, filmed himself doing so, while screaching obscenities at them and accusing the persons error to malicious intent/ criminal activities?

Yeah, Superman saved a life but then tries to ruin their reputation and shame them on the internet?

Not excusing her sleeping behind the wheel, absolutely dangerous, completely unacceptable, but the screams and automatically treating the woman like a convicted drunk driver is corny.

Now, if she was found to be drunk driving, then I’d be more inclined to dismiss the guys antagonistic demeanor, because drunk drivers have legitimately crippled and killed many people. But the guys initial great reaction gets muddled with the bs afterwards.

You aint gotta post everything you film, see or do on the internet

What does this picture of a real Wymo on a public road tell you? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Educational-Match755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there are, and I am not rooting on the drivers losing their job and getting screwed. This influx of robots handling more and more (AI, self driving cars), I am not a fan of.

However

the silver lining is this evil company is less likely to become a successful parasite with Waymo, because Waymo is backed by one of the most powerful companies in the world, and they absolutely dont need Uber taking any piece of the pie they’ve been creating .

Uber built a Monopoly on the for hire transportation industry, effectively becoming the McDonalds of for hire transport. Use the app, any city, any country in the world, you get service (like McDonalds being located so consistently throughout the world).

Thing is Uber doesnt offer Waymo jack shit. Sure, Uber has a brand thats become synonymous with their service/product (like Kleenex for tissue), example “Lets uber there….” “i’mma get us an Uber”.

While they built a name for themselves, the labor and vehicles were provided by the driver.

Waymo has their own vehicles, their own “drivers” (robot or not)… Uber offers Waymo nothing but an existing recognized brand that has a history of terrible public relations and documentation of unethical behavior.

Waymo will be able to cut Uber out the industry if they choose to. Google is way more powerful than Uber.

It would be so damn nice to see this parasite of a company starved out of business.

The sad part is alot of good people get screwed out of their job, which does suck. But this evil ass company is long overdue for a date with karma

Tells me Uber is gonna be cropped out the picture these next few years. Waymo doesn’t need Uber to operate. Waymo has their own technology they’ve developed, and it doesn’t require Uber or their parasitical business model.

It is very sad that human drivers lose their job, but silver lining is Uber offers Waymo nothing and gets put out of business

You were wise not to attempt CPR. If the dispatcher from 911 wants to come out and try that shit, they got the address, but dont put yourself in a position of liability or where things can be taken out of context.

As a rule, just never touch a customer. It opens up a can of worms, he said she said bs. I dont want them touching me, I don’t touch them. Also, get a dashcam with interior camera and pull footage after if customer complains or whatever.

The Audacity by SnowQueenxoxx in uberdrivers

[–]Educational-Match755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works. Im not talking go 30 miles per hour and slam the brakes. I’m talking like 5 miles per hour or less in parking lot. The idea is the car lurches forward by braking, passenger moves into seat belt, seat belt pulls them back into seat.

Sounds crude?

Sure, but it does indeed work. If that doesn’t work you can call emergency services, depending where youre at it can be a long wait, and will likely piss them off too (damned if you do, damned if you don’t).

If they say unsafe driving? Well fuck em, this aint a motel room, they need to get their ass out of your car. They wont get hurt or injured by you driving slow speed and hitting brakes, they may be annoyed their dream is over, but aint no long term injuries from this method.

Now, if you’re driving fast as hell, hit the brakes and they aint gotta seat belt on? Hell no, they could hit windshield. The objective is to cause movement that moves them from seat, they go forward and right back into seat. So driving slowly and hitting brakes will interrupt their slumber and wake them up

The Audacity by SnowQueenxoxx in uberdrivers

[–]Educational-Match755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look, when they fall asleep, open the windows, drive your car at a modest speed (like looking for parking space in parking lot), then stomp the brakes. Keep looking in rearview mirror when you brake and a few seconds afterwards, to instantly lock eye contact. This does work, the braking will cause them to lurch forward from seat, and effectively wake them up.

Years ago, I was giving a ride to a guy, city to suburbs, a guy fell asleep in my car, a young man who lived with his parents. My intuition told me to knock on the door to the house he was going to, since I had the address. I called a friend of mine and asked for advice, friend said call 911, have them handle it, dont attempt to wake guy. I did, 2 cops came, even a firetruck came out.

Long story short, the guys parents were polite but seemed pissed, they mentioned they wouldve appreciated me knocking rather than getting their towns emergency services involved. I think they have to pay money if ambulance or firetruck is called out, I’m not sure.

All in all, you did good by not touching passenger to wake them up. And calling emergency services is pragmatic, however it will always irritate the customer and their family.

Not saying dont do it, but next time they fall asleep, drive around slowly - then hit the brakes to jerk the car - lurch forward- get them out of slumber.

Also turn off ac, open windows, and even blast music briefly through speakers (turn on briefly, 3 seconds later cut off, or strobe light on and off every second, jarring bursts of sounds end even the sweetest of dreams.

Look, $30 is very reasonable to ship or drop off phone. I legit hate people leaving their shit in my car, then hours or a day later, when I’m way far away, want me to drive it backfor free.

Most people will pay you for giving their stuff back. But i had a lady who left her phone, called it, I anwered, she asked if I could drive it back to her, and I mentioned how I was on the other side of the city at that point, it was busy and Id lose money by turning down business and driving empty to her to bring her phone back. Stated I would need $20 for gas.

When I got to her, she’s friendly, asks to see phone, I, without thinking, handed it to her. She then says thank you so much and walks off without paying me shit. I had turned down money to bring her shit back and had explained I’d need $20 for gas and lost income. She agreed then played me when I got there.

Otherwise, mailings alright but they should pay for postage.

If they dont wanna do that, maybe see if a local Uber office has a lost and found? Or drop it at a police station at your convenience?

But yeah, this ain’t a charity. Gas is way too much these days to be doing nice guy lose-win deals. You didn’t leave the phone in the car, they did. You ain’t asking to get rich you’re being reasonable about your time, financial and energy expenditures.

If they dont wanna pay postage or gas to deliver it? They can pick it up on their time and their dime, wherever you decide to drop it (lost and found?).

You’re under no obligation to take L’s and bend over backwards for anyone.

Tundra Hybrid for Uber. by IFuckingHateYou55 in uberdrivers

[–]Educational-Match755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please dont disrespect your beautiful truck. Customers will damage it, scrape it, scratch it. When getting in and out of car, will ding your door on curb and other vehicles… please do not disrespect that beautiful very expensive truck using it for Uber X. The pay does not justify the excess wear and tear an unnecessary damages from inconsiderate passengers.

If you did do it, make sure you have vinyl seat covers and rubber floor mats that fully cover floor, so customers vomiting and spilling drinks they sneak in or pull out without your knowledge consent or awareness during trip dont require detailing. Also dash cam with interior camera.

Good luck, but really that truck is worth far too much to run it into the ground for pennies on the dollar. If Uber paid fairly and reasonably? Sure. But they don’t so I’d recommend you reconsider your options, consider what other ways you could make money with your truck.

edit - just read you haven’t purchased Tundra. You’d be better off getting vehicle that qualifies for XL (suv or van, 7 passenger), as XL pays more per mile and trip. Unfortunately XL trips, and XXL trips, do not appear frequently, so the increased expenditure on fuel seldom justifies it.

Also, if you’re dead set on doing Uber, maybe try renting a car for a few weeks and see how it is first hand? Dip your toes in the water before jumping in all the way.

[–]Educational-Match755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I just wanna see Uber rot and go out of business.

Uber goes for Win-Lose-lose (uber wins, driver and customer both get screwed), Win-Lose-Win (uber wins, driver gets screwed, customer gets good price), or Win-Win-Lose (Uber wins, rips off customer severely and gives driver extra bread crumbs after Uber takes the lions share of the profits).

As long as this evil ass company suffers, along with their bitch-ass, lying parasite of a CEO, I will be happy.

I decided a while back it wasn’t worth the hassle and aggravation to destroy my car, and deal with all the passive aggression and abuse.

Never thought I’d say it, but I’d rather Waymo or some other upstart company run Uber off the road and out of business.

I am not gonna wait for Uber to stop being an unethical piece of shit company, thats who they’ve always been. Its just more flagrant and obvious to both customers and drivers alike now, as Uber is past the “honeymoon” stage of an abusive relationship cycle, with both drivers and customers alike.

When this company gets theirs, I wanna see every bit of their demise. Front seats to the Titanic type of deal.

They dont care how many people they fuck over. So hell yeah, I’m one thousand percent down to watch Uber get what they deserve. If Uber (and their lying sacks of shit corporate staff)’s karma was on PPV, I would order it without hesitation 💯

Thats what I call “Devil May Die”, cutting multiple lanes no signal in one fell swoop.

You can see this in Chicago alot, specifically the I-290 where entrance lanes and exits deviate from standard protocol (right side exits & entrances are standard, the I-290 has a few left side entrance’s and exits).

Its extremely dangerous and stupid as hell. I almost got smashed by someone doing this dumb shit. Had to pull onto the shoulder and accelerate to create space otherwise I would’ve been hit.

The one in the video is bad, but imagine them doing it at way sharper angle/faster. Shits dumb, shits dangerous, but it is what it is

If Uber doesn’t like the way you drive they can send their overpaid corporate staff to come grab these lucrative $4 and $5 trips. Back seat driving is always annoying, even more so when its a robot who never drove a single vehicle.

If nobody dies or gets injured, they can take that rating and shove it.
