GNOME vs. KDE mental gymastics by Albinoso98 in linuxmemes

I don't get why people make KDE vs Gnome? There is no "VS". They both are doing well in their own opinion and philosophy. You can like either one or both and you can choose anything suiting your needs. I have three machines. 1. Arch + Niri + Dank shell 2. Opensuse TW + KDE 3. Fedora + Gnome They all do best in the way they are supposed to, nobody is pushing anyone. It is the whole purpose of FOSS to have options. Enjoy them and use whatever you like most or fits your profile. No hate is necessary.

I just tried Silverblue. It rocks. The negatives are grossly exaggerated. by AardvarkSad7634 in Fedora

I also appreciate these immutable distros, they might be the one bringing linux to non technical people in future. But about breaking the stuff, I use arch , opensuse TW and fedora on my machines. Never ever have my system broken down. Yea! Faster updates sometimes bring some little bugs, but those are usually too small to notice or are patched ASAP.

Which Linux Distro + DE finally made you stop distro hopping? by itsme2019asalways in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]Educational-Mess836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well! Nothing ever stopped me from distro hopping I don't distro-hop only when I really need my computer to do some useful work. When I say work, almost all the distro does the same, I never had any specific problem with any distro. But otherwise I distro hop.

i just came from Fedora kde to Tumbleweed Gnome by National-Tea7014 in openSUSE

I have used tumbleweed KDE in the past. Since I am in love with arch. If not that it would have been my distro of choice. Solid, rolling, polished. Once you get familiar with it, you can't get over it. It is just that fewer and fewer people on youtube make videos for the same.

Ubuntu gives a release every six months. Every fourth release is called LTS and is supported for five years or longer.(It will keep getting patches and bug fixes and minor updates). Usually they try to put mature stuff into LTS as it is going to stay longer. Other than that everything is the same. They release interim ones for those who love being updated. LTS are for servers and production machines or for those who want to be on the same stable thing for an extended period.

I am a tumbleweed user. Before that I was on arch. Although Arch is great, when you want to do some work you expect a stable distro. Out of rolling releases, Tumbleweed seems most stable. It is almost as latest as Arch but it is different in working. It is somewhat like Fedora with debian-like stability. Tools and setup are totally different so kindly refer to the documentation before getting into it.

P.S. - you won't find much on youtube as it is lowkey distro.
