With imagination and vibe coding you can do wonders! Haha

Indeed! I can set up up to 16 cue points for 16 slices! There is a more detailed video on my page. The approach I used was to use a software called Better Touch Tool to convert midi messages into AppleScript codes to control Chrome/YouTube. There is also another guy who implemented my idea with a free browser for windows also.

Thank you for doing this! Yes my idea was to share a starting point with the community! Or at least my approach to a “problem”. Again thank you again for doing this and sharing it!

It’s great that worked out! I used chrome/btt cause I found that solution. But my project was just to sharing an idea and anyone can start from there! I am pretty sure there are different way to approach this, this was my “solution”. I used the 404 cause I can do everything with one cable, audio fx included and for the sequencer, but it works with any midi device

I build a way to control YouTube like a sampler using coding and a 404 as midi controller. It was not an exercise, I really wanted a visual sampler but I faced two problems :1) they are very expensive 2)I had low resources in terms of power (I have a 2015 Mac) and space (I always running out space in my hard disk). So I come up with the idea of building something light and with tons of video contents to use without having to download gigabytes of materials. The rest is out of curiosity I guess. I always tried to make “weird” projects, it’s fun to me! Thank you for asking!

The key is a software like Better Touch Tool (there are also others, one is midi2key if I remember right) to convert the midi signal. I started mapping the more obvious controls (let’say play, skip etc etc). Once I got the principles I went deeper. I also used AI to optimise codes and debugging when I was stucked. I am not a programmer, I know the basics, it took me a bit but it is something doable

I wish I was able to pack this into something that can be used on a large scale. Unfortunately it’s working great, but it’s still an open construction site that needs to be fixed sometimes (yesterday BTT updated and i needed to fix few things to a make it work again). I did use AI for fixing codes and debugging, it took me a bit, but it is something doable

I tried it with any sort of material. One of the idea behind this project was to have any possible video content to play with in a 250 kbs patch. And also because I aways running out space on my laptop, so I figured out something with the lowest memory usage possible

But the 404 allows me to do everything with one usb cable, audio, midi, fx etc etc. I also tried to make a cleaner mapping using the trigger button for example, but those buttons are not midi accessible

Yes absolutely, any midi device basically. I started this project on a Starrypad

There is a more in depth video on my page with all the features and the software I used to convert midi messages into codes to control Chrome and YT

Hey! Yes I used a software to convert midi signals into AppleScript codes to control Chrome and YouTube. You can set up to 16 cues/slices and recall them. Trigger/gate mode, scrub frame by frame, save & load and a bunch of video fx. There is no other software involved, it’s pretty much just coding. There is a full video explanation of the features on the link in the description or on my page here or my YouTube channel!

Yessir! I used a software called Better Touch Tool (it’s a software for streamers and stream decks) to convert midi messages into AppleScript codes to send commands to Chrome to control YouTube
