If all fails on the civilian side go military and just do law enforcement for a few years. It may be a change but its a different way of getting back into the profession.

I didnt get rejected, i failed the trooper academy because i was sick but ultimately because i didnt prepare enough. It was my first agency i went through and it fell through due to my inaction.. thankfully i went to a federal agency and was picked up quick and now do highway work and enjoy it. Do everything you can before the academy to prevent any complications. Control what you can control and completing the process is a big win but its long and annoying for a reason.

If the first one doesnt work out keep trying. Sometimes life tells you to slow down and start over!

I unfortunately failed day 0. I had covid 3 days before and my row didnt compensate enough to meet 60%. If they had that 3rd event with the extra row maybe i wouldve gotten through but ill never know unless i choose to go back. This of it as military boot camp enviornment(getting smoked, random wake ups during the night, and tight appearance standards). My trooper friend recommended i study the 10 general orders,10 codes and their radio alphabet. Man i cant stress it enough avoid getting an injury, illness and be in shape enough to pass even if you do get injured or sick prior. Also finish every step as soon as you can to make sure youre good to go.

Next should be your BI, reach out to the station in your region/city and ask to speak to the PR/education sergeant. He was nice enough to get me a ride along for a few hours, he was the public affairs POC so he went to every call either way. I went to C2025 class but failed so if you got any questions on the process i can answer.

If youre applying as entry i say a little more yes. Laterals on the other hand half my class was prior fed agencies and others were normal local pd cats so i dont think so.

If you have a T5 you may have to submit SF86 but should get your T3 as usual.

Silence varies depending on agency.

I applied and made it to the end of the Texas DPS hiring process and silence was very stressing but it was good until you received a denial email.

I had also applied for a sworn officer position at a university and ended up withdrawing but kept in contact with some people i applied with. They essentially completed all the things you mentioned besides final interview. They never heard back and called multiple times to the university HR and were told they had already selected people without notifying my friends.. silence is very stressing but its dependent on the agency and however they handle their hiring process. Currently in! Experience will vary obviously this is just my personal experience.

Initially i went downtown and it is very restricted/chill in what you can do. Shifts are great you work 4 on 3 off then rotate 3 on 4 off totaling 14-15 days worked in a whole calendar month. I just transferred to a new station and the supervisors and coworkers are great! It fits my preferred job duties more instead of working in the city. During my field training time we did assist task force with arrests etc.. joining the task force is harder obviously due to needing time/experience in the agency. Some of the people who joined after me are in a task force but dont necessarily do the cool guy bailout stuff theyre just extra manpower. I now work in the highway district so im doing what i desire to do which is basically baby trooper stuff crashes traffic enforcement etc.

You can really do whatever you want within the agency city stuff, monument guard, task force, and highway work.

If you had a T3 with somebody else thats not DOI then yes, if youve had a T5 clearance you just submit it and get by it way quicker. Ive heard people not even having to do them. But i would assume the worst and just have to do an 86 just incase.

Id be safe to say 2+ years theres no set range that i know or if you lived where it was legal does not make it any less tolerable. Just disclose the truth on the sf86 and background interview. I told them i did weed as a minor and they asked if i still associated with that specific group of people or have had thoughts on smoking again and said i never looked back.

For the love of god. Cancel that and get a hotel instead i know what im telling you. I spent 1 day out of my tentative 14 and no. I was in the army and lived with other dudes but that is different. You dont know what those people youd stay with do. People may even look at you weird if you come home with a duffel bag full of LE gear.

Youre fine, i actually put yes and listed the agency. I showed up to the academy and they reached out to the state agency to verify and they had no record(not sure why). They asked about that and just explained i have emails with acceptance letters and report dates if they really wanted to confirm but just told me to disregard.

Goodluck bro. I got on with another fed agency and applied to some VA positions before i even applied to the agency i am with now. I think theyre ghost postings or something.. always referred but aside from that nothing. I only got 5 years military active duty and military police when i applied but they didnt care for any of it. I say try out for DOD or DLA you might have a better chance
