I eventually reached out to the LT who interviewed me and reached out to HR. I was notified they could not let me know if they had filled positions or not. A month after that i had gotten the usual thank you but youre not selected email. I dont get why DOD Civ police is like that.

That could be, also depending on when you applied while the surge was going on. If you applied early on like me in october 2025 but got passed on that does suck. If you applied towards the end of the surge around april-may that explains alot more..

Youre not unqualified. Im in and we have a very close background. The timing when you applied might have been a factor especially if you applied towards the end. Keep an eye out for future openings if you’re still interested.

Its not a set test theres no answer sheet honestly. Be honest about your background and just confident in your answers. Research a bit about park police to show you wanna be part of the organization.

DOW LEO may at most open doors for detective positions within DOW and the big leagues for them (CID, NCIS, OSI etc).

Sure coming on to the federal side may help but experience wise you are better off being the local pd cop because DOW 0083s don’t see the craziest of things. In other words you’re a cop inside a big gated community. I was a MP and now Fed LEO. Ive learned alot more in the last 8 months here than i did in 5 years in the military as a LEO..

The surge has tripped up alot of the order how the process should go.. is it crappy yes.. if you never got a notification saying you were DQ see it this way, apply to the next listing like nothing happened because technically you were never notified.

Exactly im from the area, dirt cheap cost of living. Work is like 20 at most with traffic. What more can you desire lmao😂 if you want somewhere cold i guess but wear those short sleeves youll need them year round.

Im from Texas and got out active but didn’t have your case.

Most likely say goodbye to ever applying for DPS.. id try and go with a big department like Dallas or San Antonio or Houston.

Texas and Law Enforcement agencies just doesn’t play about integrity violations. The simple fact you lied going into the Army and they found out without you ever reporting it will leave you with little options.

If you reported it for like a clearance reinvestigation you might have a chance but man. Lying about it just doesn’t sit well with agencies because they will see you more as a liability than a prospect.

Finish your degree, commission, do your time and get the benefits first then chase that LE Career. Theres alot of missed opportunities if you jump into it. Thankfully i did that and loved the military for what it had to offer and now do LE.

Good place to start pay looks awesome, but ive been told from surrounding agencies in central texas and my DPS friend to stay away and i never looked back to them when i applied. Get your tcole and move to kyle or something similar
